  • oh the epicness

  • We all got fucked being born in 21st century, medieval days would of been way better perhaps shorter but better

    A knight and his lady

  • A M A Z I N G !!!!!

  • why dont they have a tournament with jousting knights?

  • We have that in Tiel, If I remember correctly this was in Nijmegen.

  • 素晴らしい!

  • I would like to see more historically performing street musicians in costume, not playing for special events but routinely and displacing those modern street-entertainers. People, who for whatever reason make no criticism of ridiculously dressed pop-stars, should be more accustomed to this--especially when the dress has a historic and aesthetic purpose.

  • You are absolutely, 100% right.

  • @dolofonos well said

  • I like it! Made me happy! :D If you meet them again, tell them; they did a great job!

  • give them greetings from Rainfist

  • good. congratulations!!!!

  • Sorry for asking but what are the names of the instruments used? I recognize the drum and tamborine, obviously, and the hurdy gurdy, but what's the stringed and wind instruments?

  • wind instrument is a shawm. The stringed instrument looks like a cittern

  • kokiri987 the name of the first song is called la rotta but this song is completed with the lamento di tristano...I mean...the both songs are one lamento di tristano and la rota and it is medieval music from Italy

  • what's the name of the song? i need some songs of this kind of music, i would really appreciate if you could tell me some names of songs... please.. i really really need them.

  • Well, if you think every comment someone makes should change something, then I think life will have plenty of disappointments for you.

  • thank you you must be a good man...

  • Not really. You just suck.

  • Wow

  • awesome music

  • what is the name of the wind instuments is a type of flute?

can i buy it on any part of networld

  • amocualli, its called a long shawm

  • It sounds similar to an Oboe. I'm not familiar with this instrument but the oboe is a double reed instrument which makes me think that THIS instrument may also be a doubled reed instrument. It certainly has a double reed sound to it.

  • It is shawm - double reed instrument of the oriental origin and the predecessor of the oboe.

  • This is like ancient black metal

  • This is melodic and feels happy. How is that like Black Metal in ANY way?

  • You obviously do not listen to much black metal.

  • No. You've got me there. I don't really listen to much black metal.

  • +1 for honesty!

  • black metal is more rougher

  • Epic!

  • Very!

  • Very, very epic! took the words from my mouth. :p

  • LoL. Troubadours are badasses. Fuck yeah!

  • Great love this kind of music, more!!!!

  • What is the wind instrument called ?

  • Very well done!

  • nicee btw i heard this music in the game stronghold 2

  • nice lute

  • i=t sounds like something done either before a battle or at camp after the battle, to boost the spirits of the soldiers

  • Sweet! reminds me of war

  • this music is fantastic can anyone tell me if that long pipe hes playing a crumhorn or some sort of shawm?

  • It's a long shawn :)

Greetings from medieval folkgroup Slag ende Stoot

  • What wind instrument is that?

  • Isn't that a shawn?

  • It's a replica of the medieval shawm which was introduced in this part of Europe since the time of the crusades.

  • isn't that a shawn?

  • Hmm never heard of that word. Will have to look it up.

  • Ohhh, a SHAWM. Thanks for the info, I found it. I like the sound.

  • Hmm I looked it up and it doesn't sound like this, must be something else. Some kind of flute maybe, the end looks like a trumpet.

  • It's a replica of the medieval shawm which was introduced in this part of Europe since the time of the crusades.

  • i lv those times the music and the life brilland 10/10

    I love the medieval music

  • this is realy good! ill be doing that in a years time :)

  • i feel as if this is the inspiration for today's many degrading rap beats....haha =p

  • OMG i Love in brasil do have music like that

    =/

  • Awesome! Is that a Shawm? I want t play on of those... How different is it from your regular recorder?

  • Basically, heavier and louder. It just is mighty overpowering. Good for the environment as no amplification is needed.

  • this is absolutely majestic!

  • protect the land we own!!

  • yeah I love the medieval week in Gotland! :) It's seriously the one thing I live for.. O_O I'm sewing a dress :)

  • This is weird, but this music makes me want to pick up a sword and fight.

  • Isn't the stringed instrument some sort of mandolin?

  • I bet it's a cittern...

  • Oh, not sure of it, just asking really, i'm not a real scholar in medieval instruments, to be real, I only truly know the Cor Anglais, the Lute and the Mandolin.

  • Yeah, an octave mandolin (bigger, and tuned an octave below the mandolin)

  • It's a cittern

  • it's a cittern

  • That music is beyond description! A toast to the Netherlands from across the Atlantic!

  • Thanks!!

  • The stringed instrument is clearly not a lute, as there is not a backward sloped headstock. It is a Cittern.

  • Nice one good to hear this stuff ,it surprises me how much similarity there is to Balkan music .

  • Nice fantasy. Sounds nice too! But, I notice that the "shawm" the guy is playing is actually a south Indian nadaswaram, and the accompanying drum is a djembe, ubiquitous today but certainly unknown in the middle ages (especially playing the syncopated rhythms heard on the video.) But we shouldn't be too fanatical about authenticity. After all, we'd then be forced to not allow anyone over 60 to attend, the costumes would be filthy, the food rancid and everyone would stink!

  • The shawm is a replica from the medieval shawm which was introduced in this part of Europe since the crusades. And it's certainly not an Indian nadaswaram. We don't know anything of the used rhythms in the middle ages: there's no music notation as nowadays. During all the ages musicians have played the music in a way they like most.

The outfits are 15th century replica's.

In the M.A. the people washed themselves and also their clothes. The food wasn't rancid at all!

  • The Swedish Medieval Week In Gothland is way more cooler... Its awesome as hell .. theres medieval resturants, medieval football also called Munk Ball .. and The Knight Games .. and other kinds of very fun activites .. and everyone wears medieval clothing

  • lol the music is so real lol.....more please :)

  • Thanks!!

  • there's a new videoclip on Youtube of this group (medieval Folkgroup Slag ende Stoot)

  • Excellent Music!!!! Can someone get in contact with the band to upload some more music here?

  • Hi, I am the singer of this band. We are medieval folkgroup Slag ende Stoot. Since short we have uploaded our new videoclip "marching up the battle" on youtube. The melodie is original medieval, the lyric has been written by myself. It describes a medieval army of knights and their men, who are going on their way to a battle.

  • wot instruments are they using

  • The woodwind is a Shawm, the strings a lute, the instrument with the handle is a hurdy-gurdy. obviously the others are the drum and tamborine

  • Cool ty

  • The outfits are 15th century replica's

  • The outfits are 15th century replica's
