Thankx for posting this vid. For years i've been searching for it since I last saw it on M-tv (when m-tv was still what the name implies and Maiken Wäxø was still hosting her show) .... so I guess that indeed that was 23 years ago... great!
Even after watching this 50 times I don't get bored. The editing must have been a nightmare with U-matic technique back then. I hardly ever use the term "pioneer" but Holger Hiller definitely is one. And in his home town Hamburg he is even sadly unknown.
Have they used the title "The Three" on the DVD? (They didn't contact me this time, so I wasn't aware it was finally included in the #2.) The correct title for this piece is "The Two" - and "The Three" is one of the re-mix audio tracks on the original CD-Video & 12" singles. I guess it's our fault for coming up with such confusing titles!
The video was shot and edited (and the additional audio tracks mixed) in 1988, then released by Mute in 1989.
i just realised this is from 1984 according to Holger Hiller's website and I remember seeing this on TV possibly on ITV's The Tube but have only realised now that Karl Bonnie was part of this...
one of the best music videos ever made and no-one knows about it ! Karl 'Jackal' Bonnie is a gentleman ... I used to drum for a band on a Mute satellite label and lived in a squat on Walterton Road opposite 101 [ where Joe Strummer's 101ers were born] ..near Mute office/studio so I used to drop by there to blag records and one day post LSD trip met Karl who took me home for some soup and gave me a copy of The Phantom [RSW] which I still have... What's Karl up to these days ?
Have an old old copy on VHS recorded frpn MTV 120 minutes.... This is perfection

PS. The audio remix track "The Three" was later included in a Mute compilation album, and you'll find a great fan video on YouTube, if you search for

Awesome upload. I had recently just found this track on a compilation tape covered in dust and knew nothing about them.
