My creative persuasion teacher showed my class this. I liked the song, and it made a Toto fan out of me. Also, I did some research and found that Kilimanjaro does in fact rise above the Serengeti.
Just finished reading "Rock And Roll Will Save Your Life" and LOVED IT!!! Got a kick out what I did watch of this video (just keeps cutting out so I gave up watching it). Not sure I'm quit a "DF" but I have been a self proclaimed Music Junkie for years. To find out if you might be a "DF" or WTF a "DF" is for that matter - READ THE BOOK!!!

Who is this boring idiot? Someone sent me the link but I wish I hadn't come here. It was painful to listen to. If someone wants to humorously "deconstruct" a song, poem, book, or whatever, then he/she should ensure that he/she can do so without having to read every line from notes, and should be able to do so with more fluency than Forrest Gump trying to read a Linux manual out loud.

Dude -- you are so boring. It was so difficult listening to you go on and on about nothing. I found myself listening to the brilliant groove of this song. You come off sounding jealous of musicians that actually have talent. Sometimes lyrics don't need to be profound -- they just accompany good music.

"frightened by this thing that I have become"...the whole point of the song and the point you missed...in such a hurry to sound so smart...so powerful..trying so hard to colonize this idea that is your interpretation of this song...you have missed the point...
He looks and talks just like Will Ferrell! If only Will was a cynical critic and not an artist.

Bad call having the song play in the background throughout. Too distracting. Should've faded out as he started talking.

This was good. But I took "she" as a personification of Africa, not the singer's/speaker's love interest. That changes things.

I bet that seemed funny in his head, before he said it. After he said it, not so much. I actually felt embarrassed for him.
