I have a easy suggestion for those of you that are afraid of the criminals committing a crime against you using a gun. Get your own gun, preferably a shotgun. When a criminal, armed or not, hears that the person that he is going to rob or commit any crime against hears you racking that shotgun he will definitely think twice about proceeding with robbing you.
The "gun show loophole" is called freedom. The ability to buy and sell private property without gov't intereference is freedom and guns should be no different than automotive tools, computers, kitchen items, etc.

Some people buy or sell a gun or 2 every few weeks at shows not to mention all the private sales. It is just stupid to make then do a background check over & over & over. The vast majority of people would never knowingly sell to a criminal. It is a very small % of sellers that do it for a business and sell to anyone. Mandated checks would be a huge hassle, costs $, and wouldn't help crime.

There is not a "loophole" as these anti-freedom guys want you to think. This is in fact a "right" to sell and/or trade a common good, in this case a gun. I can legally sell my gun to my friend, relative neighbor, etc, if I reasonably believe they are ok to have it. Heck, I should even be able to give one away if I so desire! I mean, these shows are rediculous. Check out "Gun Show 2006" and see what this guy walked out with at a Virginia gunshow. and the 72-hour background check became the "instant.". I was always flagged on the 72 hour, but when 72 hours was up they couldn't provide any reason for denial so it always went through. Now with the instant I'm always denied and the appeals process is RIDICULOUS! The majority of people using this LEGAL "loophole" are like me, they're being denied for no reason, and when we appeal, we are denied and still not given a reason, and the appeal to the appeal is near impossible.

Let's be honest about what this is, it's about closing the only LEGAL means to purchase a firearm without the federal check. If they succeed, soon after they will begin denying in masses. I have bought about 20 firearms since age 21. I have to apply for a "permit to purchase" from my county sheriff each year, which I always receive, and then do a federal background check during the transaction. Up until March of 2004 when Bush was in office mind you, the "assault weapons ban" wasn't reinstated

Not sure how to feel about this. In one hand, there are our rights, and the real truth that criminals and cops will kill you if certain situations occur. That is unquestionable. The line between those 2 groups grows thinner every day. On the other hand a guy selling drugs for a living can walk in, buy one then shoot innocent people trying to uphold the law, or even worse innocent civilians. Life sucks and you need to defend yourself either way. Not sure how to feel.

If it was legalized people wouldn't have to go to shady ass dealers who charge whatever they want, and don't pay a dime in taxes to the government. Dispensaries DO have to pay taxes, because they're legal under state law. It should be regulated by the FDA just like zanex and lipitor, or any other pharmaceutical.
