ha I remember as a little kid running around my grandmothers house singing this song :). my favorite part was and still is "OW BABY THAT'S AWHAT I LIKE!" at the end :)
Today's the 53rd anniversary of the tragic, horrible plane crash. RIP Big Bopper,Ritchie Valens,And Buddy Holly. ..... man, I HATE airplanes!!! What a shame! They had great futures but it turned out to be a waste of talent .... so sad :'(
i have a feeling that this song isnt about anything but for some reason i cant stop listening too it XD i dont know if its because i like the big boppers singing voice or if its because i think the guy is hilarious with his artist name and so on
@Holler973 Do you know what's even sadder than that?? Imagining how much worse the stars of the future are going to be compared to the ones today. Hope I'm dead by then.
i used to listen to more modern music a lot. i still do. but once i randomly started getting into older music, i enjoyed music a lot more. this kinda song makes me want to dance...
Oh dear God, how I love that laugh at :12 and 1:53. And his expressions are just great. What a wonderful performer! They sure as heck don't make 'em like that anymore!
@KIDAmnesiacBends well those too were pretty good years, and I do like them alot too, but my personal favorite is 54 through 65, which is during the time that 50's rock n roll was in its prime.
@trippberry Why do you people glamorize the 50's and 60's? Sure the music was good but that doesn't mean it was the best of times. Have you seen the propaganda films from the 50's? Blacks had no rights, gays had no rights and women were still kept down. The 60's saw us through the JFK assassination, the Vietnam war, the Manson murders and a ton of other crap. I don't think any black person over the age of 50 would agree with your glamorization of those decades. It's PURE BS.
@CainmosniMirrored Let put this short for you, you are simply just into the mainstream history, and there are always bad things going on at anytime, it doesn't matter when and what decade. I have to talk to a very large extent to people that lived and grew up in the Golden Era of America, both black and white that enjoyed, and many of the blacks have told me that it was only that bad in certain cities and regions but not every where. That is only a fraction of what I could say
I had some health issues when I was a little one...my Mom and Stepdad were huge music people, they used to even go to this place in town on Saturday nights that played "oldies"...so to get me to walk my Mom would put this song on and I would walk around the coffee table holding on and singin' my preschool lungs out
@Playstation3Gamer10 I'm 14 too, and recently I was having a conversation about music with some people. They were saying about like JLS and basshunter and stuff then they ask me what I like, I say "Quite a bit of music really." they asked for an example.. I said "The big bopper." They said "Who?" Big bopper is beat. And he also sounds like a black man!! It's great!
Is it just me, or can anyone else tell that this isn't him actually singing, but it's just lip syncing? I mean... he doesn't even have a microphone... and towards the end he's not even playing the guitar... and he has no one else playing in the background... funny how we get pissed off nowadays for these kinds of things...
@Christoph56 Yeah on a lot of these variety shows in the 50's and 60's the artists would just lip synch. Not because they didn't play their songs, but because it would be too loud in the studios. It sucks
He died over fifty years ago, after a short carear in music. But, when you hear: " Heeeelllllloo Baaaaabbbyyyy! You know EXACTLY who it is!! Rest in Peace, Big Bopper!
What kinda freakin' world am I livin' in where a great song like this doesn't have at least a million views??? Oh that's right...the one where total garbage gets 100 million views.
@MacAggy What are you talking about? This is a generic rock 'n roll song. There are countless better ones from the 50s and 60s. Sorry that you'e so sentimental about it, but that's just the way it is.
@zeppelin0110 Sorry, you may look at it that way but to me that's not 'just the way it is'. The chord progressions may be ones that are used over and over again but what he did with the lyrics and vocals make it NOT an average generic rock 'n' roll song. That's all I'm gonna say. I'm not gonna argue with a fellow Zeppelin fan.
@MacAggy Fair enough. I'm certainly no expert in old school rock 'n roll. To me, though, Everly Brothers, Beatles, Elvis Presley come to mind first when I think 'Rock 'n Roll'.
I think long-term Richards would of had more of an impact in other areas of the music business. He may even have gone into the acting business. He's got a great personality and seems like a pretty funny guy.

My condolences to you, taylorswiftmusicfan5. I lost my grandfather on my father's side of my family on Saturday, June 4th 2005 and I lost my grandmother on my mother's side of the family on Saturday, April 16th, 2011. Hang in there taylorswiftmusicfan5.
when i was a little kid about 3 or 4 my uncle always used to play this song over and over and say hello baby just like bopper and i had no idea what he was doing and i used to laugh and i thought it was the most funniest thing in the world lol RIP Bopper Buddy Ritchie :)
I thought my Grandma wrote "Love Me Tender" because she would take me in her lap and hum it in my ear every Sunday. That was 40 plus years ago and I never forgot.
Why is everyone feeding the troll @dangerousnigger? If you do that he'll just keep talking. Ignore him. He obviously doesn't have a brain, probably just some loser behind a computer with nothing better to do. I mean, look at his name. Ignorant. Sometimes i think i'm the only with sense on this youtube thing, and i'm only 15. People like that don't deserve replies. Anyways. I feel weird to love this song, since it's so old. I heard it on dancing with the stars and now it's on my ipod lolz :P

My Grandpa used to sing this, he died on July 4th of 2008 though, I miss him.

Hey, Big Bopper, your son's going to have your body exhumed in about 49 years and put the casket up for sale. Have fun on AB now.

@1234deedeeramone Amen.
