  • My name's Chantal Lacey... I think my mom had this in mind when she named me..

  • February 3,1959

Pilot one ear deaf, no instruments exams, no pilot license for flying at night, bad orientation.

Justin Bieber and One Direction should've been on that plane instead of The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens!!!

  • Hellooooooo Baby !!

    RI.P. BIG BOPPER..

  • This man is actually Newt Gingrich.

  • i have a feeling that this song isnt about anything but for some reason i cant stop listening too it XD i dont know if its because i like the big boppers singing voice or if its because i think the guy is hilarious with his artist name and so on

  • FUN SONG !!!

  • Did you notice who did the introduction? That's Dick Clark! Watched him last night on his New Years Rockin' Eve - timeless!

  • Yeah the music today sucks, I have no desire to purchase any of today's music, but the older music I will buy because I want good quality.

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 All modern music is nowadays is soccer music!

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 who cares how old you are? Get your thumbs up for saying something intelligent not posting something that nobody cares about

  • @7556Andrew you feel the irony? :)

  • II have this song on my Ipod, is that weird (I'm 10)?

  • The Big Bopper is my gamertag and when people message me i reply saying YEAH THIS IS THE BIG BOPPER SPEAKING (try me if you don't believeeeee)

  • THE BIG BOPPER OWNZ! Greetings and I wish you a merry christmas!

Tadeáš Horák from Prague, Czech Republic!

  • i wish it soulda been justin bieber or lil wayne

  • @ease3joser

never ever compare any of the modern day losers to the superstars of yesterday.

  • @Holler973 what the fuk are you talkin about retared looser i meant it as i wish it coulda been justin bieber or wayne that died

  • @Holler973 Do you know what's even sadder than that?? Imagining how much worse the stars of the future are going to be compared to the ones today. Hope I'm dead by then.

  • @pedalpunk57 pedalpunk, I have to say I compltetely understand that. Well i'm gonna have to survive on my oldies cd's and my record player.

  • i used to listen to more modern music a lot. i still do. but once i randomly started getting into older music, i enjoyed music a lot more. this kinda song makes me want to dance...

  • (Playstation3Gamer10 was my old account)

I love, according to the comment section, the people listening to this bless him etc..

He was awesome and he is my biggest personal hero.

I will visit him in heaven, if it exists.

  • Oh dear God, how I love that laugh at :12 and 1:53. And his expressions are just great. What a wonderful performer! They sure as heck don't make 'em like that anymore!

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 I hate this modern culture, we're stuck in, I just plane ole hate it, can't stand it. The 50's (54-65) were the absolute best!

  • @trippberry hahaha you said "plane" instead of "plain." That's so funny, now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go cry now...

  • @trippberry yes.Yes.YES!!! If we could only go back again....I hate how complicated the world has become.

  • @trippberry

why'd u stop at '65....66-69 were some of the best years for music too! it really ends somewhere in the 70s

  • @KIDAmnesiacBends well those too were pretty good years, and I do like them alot too, but my personal favorite is 54 through 65, which is during the time that 50's rock n roll was in its prime.

  • @trippberry ... "I just plane ole hat it." no pun intended?

  • @trippberry Why do you people glamorize the 50's and 60's? Sure the music was good but that doesn't mean it was the best of times. Have you seen the propaganda films from the 50's? Blacks had no rights, gays had no rights and women were still kept down. The 60's saw us through the JFK assassination, the Vietnam war, the Manson murders and a ton of other crap. I don't think any black person over the age of 50 would agree with your glamorization of those decades. It's PURE BS.

  • @CainmosniMirrored Let put this short for you, you are simply just into the mainstream history, and there are always bad things going on at anytime, it doesn't matter when and what decade. I have to talk to a very large extent to people that lived and grew up in the Golden Era of America, both black and white that enjoyed, and many of the blacks have told me that it was only that bad in certain cities and regions but not every where. That is only a fraction of what I could say

  • @trippberry You can live in la la land all you want but the 50's and 60's were no better than today.

  • Comment removed

  • @trippberry I am very sorry about saying plane instead of plain, I made a mistake and I regret it highly.

  • why cant JB die in a plane crash?????

  • Wow!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG FUCK IT THE BEST ONE MY MOST FAVORITE!!!!!

  • The Big Bopper himself!

    Incredible!

    Thanks!

  • But? But? But? Aw baby YOU KNOW WHAT I LIKE!!! God bless his soul. RIP February 3, 1959.

  • no he wasn't lip syncing n if he wouldn't of died n a plane crash he would of been bigger then Elvis!!!!!!

  • THUMBS UP!! if you think Big Bopper should Rest In Peace....

  • YOU KNOW WHAT I LIKE!

  • im 22 and this is a tuneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 We were trying to have a conversation. Fuck off and go play your PS3.

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 Heard of this guy through a futurama reference, if you're interested.

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 23 and lovin' it! Love Big Bopper's Wedding too. Thanks Dad for getting me into the good stuff!!!

  • I had some health issues when I was a little one...my Mom and Stepdad were huge music people, they used to even go to this place in town on Saturday nights that played "oldies"...so to get me to walk my Mom would put this song on and I would walk around the coffee table holding on and singin' my preschool lungs out

  • The Big Bopper is my xbl gamertag, love it

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 I'm 14 too, and recently I was having a conversation about music with some people. They were saying about like JLS and basshunter and stuff then they ask me what I like, I say "Quite a bit of music really." they asked for an example.. I said "The big bopper." They said "Who?" Big bopper is beat. And he also sounds like a black man!! It's great!

  • This is my ringtone haha . . .

  • This was my jam back in the day!

  • i always like the background noise that the microphones make. adds to the feel...

  • This is a fantastic fun track and I love it very much. It is superb by the Big Bopper.

aka Jiles Perry "J P" Richardson Jr. This sounds full of fun...the music and the atmoshpere that he creates is simply awesome!

  • Is it just me, or can anyone else tell that this isn't him actually singing, but it's just lip syncing? I mean... he doesn't even have a microphone... and towards the end he's not even playing the guitar... and he has no one else playing in the background... funny how we get pissed off nowadays for these kinds of things...

  • @Christoph56 Yeah on a lot of these variety shows in the 50's and 60's the artists would just lip synch. Not because they didn't play their songs, but because it would be too loud in the studios. It sucks

  • love the big bopper,he sounds like such a funny person. love his deep voice''oh baby thats a what i like''rip jp ''the big bopper'' richardson

  • baby you know what i like

  • RIP Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly

  • Great song. Great video. you know what i like...

  • HEEELLLLLLLO BAAAAAABBBYYY!!! :DDD

  • he really had a theatrical sensibility. you've got to wonder what kind of music he'd have released in the 60s if he had lived.

  • do miss 2pac biggie little richard eazy e :) big bopper and richje valance

  • @jayhamnett lol...

  • @jayhamnett I hear ya man........but Little Richard is still alive.

  • im only watching this for a fiftys music progect

  • thumbs up if u live virginia chantilly

  • The Bopper rocks. This song is kind of like a pre-rap song. He is missed.

  • Is the girl at 1:30 saying "He's good?"

  • Not many songs have a phone call in the middle of them. I can think of this and Alicia Keys "you don't know my name."

    RIP Bopper!

  • happy bithday

  • What kinda freakin' world am I livin' in where a great song like this doesn't have at least a million views??? Oh that's right...the one where total garbage gets 100 million views.

  • @MacAggy i was literally just about to ask that!

  • @MacAggy What are you talking about? This is a generic rock 'n roll song. There are countless better ones from the 50s and 60s. Sorry that you'e so sentimental about it, but that's just the way it is.

  • @zeppelin0110 Sorry, you may look at it that way but to me that's not 'just the way it is'. The chord progressions may be ones that are used over and over again but what he did with the lyrics and vocals make it NOT an average generic rock 'n' roll song. That's all I'm gonna say. I'm not gonna argue with a fellow Zeppelin fan.

  • @MacAggy Fair enough. I'm certainly no expert in old school rock 'n roll. To me, though, Everly Brothers, Beatles, Elvis Presley come to mind first when I think 'Rock 'n Roll'.

  • @zeppelin0110 you are right. the big bopper isnt first choice when people think of rock n roll. he couldnt sing and should have remained a dj.

  • @MacAggy fucking JB.....

  • Helllllllooo Baby! You can't beat stuff like this , it's CLASSIC! Rest in Peace J.P Richardson , Buddy Holly , & Ritchie Valence.

  • Your ignorance is showing

  • @Playstation3Gamer10 no joke.

  • @theblahs Wanker.

  • @theblahs you're another cunt, there's plenty of you out there

  • shakin it 50's stylie!

oooohh bayyybehh youuuu knooooowww whaaaat I llliike!

  • Thumbs up if your name is Chantel, Chantal, Chantelle.....and you've been sung this your whole life LOL

  • True Pioneers.Led ol Waylon on to an excellent career and also a welcome legacy to country music. a sextillion thankyous

  • DOWN ASS SONG ... LO L

  • My Mom used to sing this to me when I was so little...

  • At first when i heard it, I despised it with a burning passion, but now its...its.....so undeniably great! Dang you and Thank you The Big Bopper!!

  • I think long-term Richards would of had more of an impact in other areas of the music business. He may even have gone into the acting business. He's got a great personality and seems like a pretty funny guy.

  • thank you big bopper

  • look whos on tv, momma, it's the devil. whoever got that reference is up-to-date- on the awesomeness meter.

  • LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!!

  • my grandparents always sing this to me instead of calling my name (shantel) lol

  • Pure sound of the 50's,J.P you're a true legend god bless your soul & r.i.p

  • @USgovernmentLies Ok good good ! Be carefull, you'll get traced by the government with your Youtube account so you better hide in the nuclear bunker you dug in your garden :) You can thank me after 2012 for the tip ;)

  • @USgovernmentLies Hey do you believe that 9/11 is a conspiracy by the US government ? ^^

  • @manofthesouth NO BUT GUESS WHAT YOU A OFFICIAL RETARD IF YOU CALL NOW YOU CAN ALSO BE AN IDIOT!!! R.I.P billy mays

  • way before my time but i love it<3

  • @USgovernmentLies Things happen....good and in this case bad. Love them, remember them always, but don't try to lay blame.

  • @USgovernmentLies just because they were famous, that means it was conspiracy? what for? when a plane crashes and 400 people die for no reason, everybody says that it was bad luck, or some problem with the airplane... it was just bad luck, everybody can have it... It's a sad thought that our life can be so easily taken away, but it's the truth... Fortunately they left for us a work that still is nice to listen to :)

  • @DMZBG this guy is just yankin your chain lookin to start a debate he is so full of it yeah they were shot down by Dick Cheney while hunting right!!! don't bother wastin your time w/ these conspiracy nuts..

  • The day music died...the big bopper, rich valens, buddy holly!

  • Had a good chuckle with this one, r.i.p Big Bopper!

  • yaa this is the bi bopper speaking!

along with Buddy Holly and Richie Valens. <3

  • Oh boobies thats what I like!

  • WTF

  • i will answer hello my niggaz

  • ....I see this and don't know if i'm happy or sad

...This was the "Break Out " music for us in the 50's .

...Today ,for the first time ,I have seen him in action .

  • Wow he's awesome.

  • Will I what?

  • Reading a little more about the Bopper dispelled the popular notion that he was just some dope with a novelty hit. Of course, Chantilly Lace is a novelty song of sorts, but he was a pretty prolific songwriter, not a bad singer, and a popular DJ. A real shame that he died.

  • My Grandpa used to sing this, he died on July 4th of 2008 though, I miss him.

  • @taylorswiftmusicfan5

My condolences to you, taylorswiftmusicfan5. I lost my grandfather on my father's side of my family on Saturday, June 4th 2005 and I lost my grandmother on my mother's side of the family on Saturday, April 16th, 2011. Hang in there taylorswiftmusicfan5.

  • @TheBigmovieman Thanks, you hang in there to.

  • Had he lived I think he would've ended up in Hollywood before to long

  • This was my favourite record when I was a kid

  • My wrath will be unleashed if Glee is to cover this song.

  • You think he answered the phone like that in real life lol.

  • Hey, Big Bopper, your son's going to have your body exhumed in about 49 years and put the casket up for sale. Have fun on AB now.

  • when i was a little kid about 3 or 4 my uncle always used to play this song over and over and say hello baby just like bopper and i had no idea what he was doing and i used to laugh and i thought it was the most funniest thing in the world lol RIP Bopper Buddy Ritchie :)

  • @1234deedeeramone Amen.

I thought my Grandma wrote "Love Me Tender" because she would take me in her lap and hum it in my ear every Sunday. That was 40 plus years ago and I never forgot.

  • True romance! <3

  • Why is everyone feeding the troll @dangerousnigger? If you do that he'll just keep talking. Ignore him. He obviously doesn't have a brain, probably just some loser behind a computer with nothing better to do. I mean, look at his name. Ignorant. Sometimes i think i'm the only with sense on this youtube thing, and i'm only 15. People like that don't deserve replies. Anyways. I feel weird to love this song, since it's so old. I heard it on dancing with the stars and now it's on my ipod lolz :P
