  • i never get tired of watching this!

  • wow hes soooooo smooth

  • This video is my dance Bible.. I stole all the moves from this guy (also a few from the woman) and have definitely set myself apart from the same old, same old moves most people are doing on the dance floor..

  • ok I sooo want this guy to be my lindy hop partner like ASAP!

  • WOW, you can dance more please

  • the music of johnny hodges and duke will live forever as long as the kids can move

  • class!

  • Finally, real swing with proper music, not some ballroom showcase with music by some 90's pop starlet.

  • @theartema Search for videos of "Lindy Hop" and you'll find what you're looking for. That's real swing dancing.

  • 24 missed the LIKE button !

  • Such a joy to watch! I'm so inspired!

  • They are good - and look they are both in tennis shoes, do you know how hard it is to dance to this kindof music in them. Fantastic

  • I'm absolutely mesmerized by these two.. This is the way I'm going to do it from now on.. Lindy + Street = Wow!..

  • I love New York City!!!

  • DOOOOOPE Lindy! .. 4 real. PLaying with music like this.. wow.

Lots of Hip hop moves come from lindyhop so one might read some things as hiphop.. To me this is pure swing.. This style should be back on top!

    ,One

  • I couldn't see any hip hop movement. Fortunately, this is just swing. And it's so much better than hip hop

  • @Pabloprock I agree!! Todays black kids have sold out their culture for that mess!!

  • @bgroupie so true

  • Good Stuff(!!) I sure would like to know what song / track / album they were using.

  • John Dokes and Denise See, job well done. Too smooth. Love the dancing. Keep it up. Looked at this video 4 years ago. You both are an inspiration. Swing daddy oh!

  • This is great but if you want to see how it was really done check out:

"Two can have a party ... Tammi Terrell"

Thier Jitterbuging will make your jaw drop

  • why cant we have more outdoor locations in england where we can just go out on say a sunday afternoon and dance????

  • Wow! This 2 are so GREAT!

  • Fantastic!!!

  • They did great!!!

  • you both are insperation

  • so cool

  • I would sell the wife and the dog just to be able to dance like that! Brilliant.

  • This guy is one of the best dancers I have ever seen in my life! He holds himself like a coiled spring; his movements are so economical, he doesn't waste a gesture. He makes his partner look good, yet he's obviously doing most of the work. God, he's great--and he makes it look so effortless!

  • The foot work at 0:35 and way later at 4:05 is just unbelievable to have that much musicality and talent to nail that. What is that step he pulls? I just can't put it together.

  • Funky!

I also liked when @ 3:47, the kid in the background starts dancing with the sister:)

  • This video just makes me so happy. Thank you so much for posting it.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

    Where can I take lessons?

  • i really do love these two and how they make it their own! so much fun to watch!

  • Lindo Vídeo !!!!!!

    O pessoal dança muito !!!!

  • Kewl.

  • i love the dancing, so awesome

i love this type of music too, does anyone know any good songs that sound similar?

  • Try a Swing favourite.

Sammy Davis, Jr. - Love Me or Leave Me.

  • lol, nice improv with the Lindy Hop and the Charleston and shag add -in too, though that black guy is kind of making it into a break dance then a lindy hop, but still looked good and complimented the dance which is all that matters

    Awsome vid, 5 stars

  • I agree. It is everything it should be. Spontaneous, Fun, w/ heavy accent on the rhythm, and not smooth. I can't stand the things they are calling swing these days at the Comps. They all look totally gay.

  • What's wrong with that?

  • After a very unscientific survey of, I declare this the best example of lindy hop on youtube. It swings. Baby.

  • What? The black guy fell into a lot of patterns... But you are right it was swingin and fun to watch.

  • @Tadhg64 best lindy on youtube? wtf? hellzapoppin?

  • Fun to watch - Hard to do.

  • It is with that attitude.

  • хорошо ногами дрыгают. гыгы

  • Awesome !!!!!!!

  • Dude they're dancing on stone floors. I certainly don't do lifts/flips other than on wood floors!

  • social dancing is fun... not necessarily for the watchers but for the dancers.. looks like they both enjoy dancing together n having fun! simple is sweet in social dancing, they are not performing any show.. so no complaints! i love their musicality!

  • they are marvellous dancers and sooooo cute. Look at her and at him, they have so much fun in everything.

Great, thank you for sharing, they look fantastic dancing, please go on like this and enjoy life!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • why? if they're having fun and living life, I don't see why anyone should give that up to spend 8 hours a day doing some boring job. It takes work to get this kind of rhythm! (btw, they probably do have jobs, and just enjoy swing dancing--what's wrong with that?)

  • trinkiboy's just hates his job, so he wants others to suffer with him.

    That was groovy

  • It's so nice to see this traditional African American dance being performed by them especially since they created it in Harlem N.Y. Like the polka- even though I enjoy it - but imagine if African Americans all danced the polka and never mentioned or showed Polish people.

  • They make a lovely dancing couple =]

  • je je je, that'z worth the watch! saMooth!

  • Love it! I would so join in!

  • Beautiful stuff, inspirational

  • John Dokes is simply amazing. you can learn so much just by watching him.

  • awesome groove and great partnering. I like the modern/freestyle moves thrown in here and there. makes you unique.

  • You guys are amazing and inspiring! Love everthing about the way you dance.

  • AMAZINNNNNNG :)

  • fabulous

  • What is with all those people walking past like nothing is going on, I could never ignore something this good! Dancing is so great.

  • they are new yorkers duh!

  • thanks god for this fabulouses dancers i hope one day perhaps do the same things really beautifull whithout comments abdel...

  • i'd hate to make big generalisations

  • Watching this just makes ya glad to be alive!

  • the brother have his shit right they look great

  • my god that's the most retarded comment I've erver read on you tube.

  • ive watched this sooo many times and it gets better every time =) very fun to watch and i wish i could dance like that -- good fun -- swing dance is the best

  • That music is Duke Ellington from his Blues In Orbit album, which is out of print (unless they reissued it which I kind of doubt). The song title I just can't remember. I'll have to check. But it's Johnny Hodges on alto. Obviously great to dance to!!!

  • I like the fact that his partner was not at the same level and still they BOTH enjoyed dancing together. The most important thing is having fun and I think they both did.

  • Yeah, and you're a expert on this how? moron.

  • One 'Hep Cat'. :)

  • love this, looks like so much fun

  • love it..good rythm

  • sweet Geeze

  • 3:48-3:54

Haha in the backround the little kid wanted to dance.

    I love this video.

  • Great dancing! great music! What is the song?

  • great

  • groovy!! That guy really got the swing!

  • i love these two

  • lol hahaha keef haha

  • Everybody looks great; How many years it takes to perfect

  • Great Musicallity!!! Absoluetly fantastic Well done. Great Lead and Follow Connection. All through the whole song it didn't seem like there was any real repetition. Well done.

  • Awesome! Awesome! Looks like lots of fun.

  • puttin the soul and swagger in the step. brilliant

  • Nice dancing ole man. Denise weren't too bad either!

  • Wow. He's smooth.

  • Soul nice!!!!!!

  • Wow, he's really good. A lot of people who watch dance say you've got to watch the feet as well as the body. In partner dancing you've also got to watch something else: the hands. Check out his hands.

  • spot-on. he's always there

lovely to watch - great chemistry!

  • That couple really had the moves!

  • Who cares, good dance is our best, new lesson...

  • :-D I have a feeling that guy's heard the song before.

  • i cna't think of a better example of good, solid casual social lindy hop. it's all here.

put it in the time capsule.

  • They looked like they were having a good bit of fun! It would have been nice to be there.

  • Wrong band for this style of swing dancing try Count Bassie...sorry no offence just try and see!

  • Fantastic performace.

Please post more videos of you

  • one doesn't have to be dressed a certain way to move and groove. i'm a biker. a guy once told me "i can't own a harley, i want to wear a helmet & if I ride a harley, i'd have to ride without a helmet"..caught up in the look. these two dance fantastic! you can't get with their dancin'cuz they're not "dressed" for it. you're not seein the skill. You're lookin' for fashion. I always admired this dance. when I saw this, I didn't think of clothes, I looked at how cool they were dancin'.

  • I think I pretty much said that they have skills. My point was (obviously missed by you) that it could have been better if they weren't dressed so casually.

When in Rome and all that ya know?

  • no i didn't miss your point and i apologize if it's not respected...i do...it's casual dancin' fun at central park. folks simply comin' out to do the dance. to some it has even more appeal if the attire of the era was there too. You say they had "NONE of the style".. I beg to differ...the MOVES you say they had down IS the style! ok, i respect your point, hope you can respect mine which is if you have the moves down, who cares what you're wearin?

  • the music is by ellingon orchestra with the following soloists: johnny hodges, ray nance or may be clark terry on trumpet and maybe harry carney . What do you think?

  • that's a dyno mite music jam....my friends and i reeeally like it...is is available on a cd?

  • i listen it again and i 'm not sure : it's not jonnhy hodges anyway maybe you can send it to isartolie (a member of youtube), he knows everything about jazz and he can telle you sorry again

  • thanx for trying...i was able to track it back to e & d blues and you're right, ellington orchestra. it was mentioned earlier in this forum..take out the ella and it's all the same instrumental. smoooooth and perfect beat for the lindy.

  • Some awesome moves there- Some of the people look like there are dressed for hiking rather than swing. What happened to the sexy suits and dresses?

  • like the step (rotate) at 0.25 the black gentleman does.

  • i've always admired this way of dancing..these two are fantastic and inspire us me to try and learn. btw..what is the name of that song and the band playing it? is it available on cd? they are "smooooooth"

  • this is not lindy "hiphop", if you check the old videos, this IS how you do it...with style baby

  • Where exactly in Central Park is this?

  • that's wha it all comes own to...suave, jazzy and loveing it..the smiles on this two faces are genuine...keep n having fun with all em moves ; )))))

  • Great!!!really good!!!I love this dance. I wanna practice it!!! I'm Hip Hop and House dancer, but this is really crazy!!!nice!!!!

  • I had my first Lindy lesson last night and loved it. But wow, what an inspiration this is! Sounds like they make a great team and it certainly looks like it.

  • Both these dancers are friends of mine & while the lead is great with freestyling, he's not the best at leading. He's not clear with turns & not generous with music breaks where his follow could do her thing. It's usually his show. But he's great. It looks like he'd heard that song a billion times since he knew all the breaks & nuances of it.

The girl in this video has a reputation for being a great follow, with a laid-back style & great sense of humor. Her dance card is always full.

  • Uh... actually his turns are very clear, and a follow should not have to have the leader carve out a spot for her to "do her thing." A GOOD follower is always able to dance to the music within the context of the lead being given.

Watch the old timers and tell me I'm wrong.

  • I saw these dancers compete at a Harvest Moon weekend in Pasadena several years ago. Goosebumps...Still my favorite Lindy vid on youtube!

  • Dragzai is totally right. XD I wish I could move that smoothly. lol

  • Amazing, I've seen probably every video out there and some top pros perform in person such as Kevin and Carla, when they were together, and Natalie and Yuval, when they were together, and I dance myself. Regardless how many aerials they did or how impressive it was I still really enjoyed watching this more. I love the way they danced together. It was fluent and entertaining. Way to feel it guys.

  • Hey hey, no need to get nitpicky about her dancing. She could probably have a bit more frame and gave a little more weight (kinda force him into leading more), but he also left her standing there several times while he did his own thing. It's hard to be unexpectedly disconnected and expected to try and go with his steps, especially when he's blending hip-hop in there. I enjoyed it...it looked like they were having fun (though she looked a bit lost a couple times :-P)

  • Are you people serious that you can't see the hiphop in there? His movements all have a little more hiphop in them than usual, and if you couldn't see it anywherte else his feet give it away, i love the blend it's great!

  • I agree. The guy has sucessfully blended some hiphop into his footwork, and it works. His lead is very loose. The girl follows , but doesn't know how to turn.

  • Good, Very good!!! Great!!!

  • There's a huge hip-hop influence here - why can't people see it? The way he moves his feet is almost completely different from "normal" Lindy Hop.

    I think I even saw a c-walk.

  • You're right, he did a c-walk a couple times in there. hahaha

  • I love watching this couple dance. Isn't it fun? He's so light on his feet and she's got the greatest smile and you can just see the fluidity between them and their style. That looks like alot of fun.

  • Where was the hip-hop? I missed it.

  • AAA MY EYES THEY BURN HELP ME GOD

  • I don't think swing dancing could ever be hiphop. Now, popping is real hiphop :D.

  • whats hiphop about this?

  • my mom and her sister did this dance at "lakewood" near barnesville pa during world war 2. what a great time. send more.

  • the best of all time------thanks so much

  • I'm enjoy this fusion of Hip Hop, Jazz, and Big band - Dancing.

  • The black guy really has it going on... I can feel his passion! Excellent!

  • ohh i love swing danceing. its even better when you and your partner are so close that you can make improvisation look soo good, natural, and easy. alot of chops to these dancers <3

  • really good dancers

  • Lord, it must be difficult to do those old dances in those tight jeans.

  • It's all improvisation. With a good lead, a good follow, and a good song it may look planned, but they're just working off of each other.

  • That looks so fun. I wonder if its a routin or just improv

  • they dance so effortless...they make it look so easy. wow!

  • Oooohhhhh I love this Man!!!!!!!

  • They look like they're having so much fun. I'd love to be able to dance like this!

  • Cool

  • I WANNA DANCE WITH HIM.........he is smooth!

  • they make such a gorgeous couple!

  • omg they were awesome...i wanna dance like that...

  • Man..I love to watch people dance and have a good time. It's one of the best ways to break down the barriers in this crazy too serious world. I love to watch people cut up and have a good time. Keep dancin' people..keep dancin'.

  • This reminds me of a GAP commercial

  • this video makes me really happy because its not just the girl spinning and the guy doing nothing, its actually a guy who can lead as opposed to a guy who tells a girl to spin. He's great. she followed well.

  • lol white people at their best!
