the Medieval Crusades = to conquer Jerusalem

the Great Crusade = to reunite mankind and conquer the galaxy for man.

the damocles crusade = to conquer Tau space

the Macharian crusades = to expand Imperial territory.

the Mariens never launch crusades into the EoT is my point.

that is how it keeps in a state of eternal war, not to mention the average Imperial world has at least 1 billion people on it, or higher.

well... they had a connection with the eldar webway when the Emperor was still alive, through the gate in the golden throne, but then it got infested by chaos.

the Emperor had to stay on his throne and use his power to block the demons, till the Horus Heresy, after that, the throne was modified to help emperor survive and still use his power to protect mankind.

in the last year of 41th millenium, some equipment on the throne began to fail and couldn't be replaced

No, there have been locust/bug like alien that swarm all over you and have different biomorphes long before GW made the tyranids. Their is very little complete orgininality in science fiction because the stories take concepts from differents stories and alter some things and ad something new.

Their is no orginal concept in any major power in 40k and fantasy alike. They just turned it up to eleven but their not original.

@Terrorkarel Nothing in sci-fi is original but I am not aware of anyone else who's put together so many influences to make such a terrifying concept: Creatures designed to wage war that have a collective intelligence able to design and alter its individual parts all with the greater aim of pursuing its hunger for organic material... I haven't watched the crapper Alien moves (just Alien and Aliens) but I am not aware of them having any awesome motives like that....

Alien hord that destroy worlds in the name reproduction and advancement: Xenomorphes from the alien series and Replicators (star gate, yes their machines but it about the concept)

These are a few examples, they might not be complete like the tyranids but sci-fi has no shortage of all consuming hords of aliens.

And don't forget the borg from star trek.

They're pretty basic ideas when taken apart, my point was that they're put together in the Tyranids and thus, in my opinion at least, demonstrate a terrifying originality, wouldn't you agree?

@Terrorkarel I think I read somewhere that GS officially said HR Geigers Xenomorphs where the inspiration for the nids. I could be wrong although it makes sense. Look at the nid models their exoskeletal structure looks almost identical to the Xenomorphs.
