  • may i ask what strings are you using? sounds like brand new strings

  • @MidouBanChan ,

You are right on the spot on that. The guitar had some new John Pearse P.B.lights when the video was made.

  • @greekflatpicker oh nice, i'm using the very same strings on my Gibson j-50. But i actually like their sound only after two-three weeks, it becomes more mellow, less airy, love it.. keep it up :)

  • Thanks.

  • nice tune....

  • Great tune, great playing, great guitar! I'm curious if you have played the newer Legend series J-45 from Gibson. If so, how do you think the Legend compares to the old guitars, allowing for the age difference? Do you think the Legend guitars will be as good as the old ones as they age? Thanks!

  • @GotTheSilver01 ,

Thanks for your comment.Much appreciated.Sorry,i can't be of help,i haven't played the new Legend model yet but i read great things on them.

I used to have two custom shop Gibson AJs,one with Madagascar and one with Cocobolo back and sides.Very good guitars, but they just don't compared with the older ones from '42-'45 era. Those are the best.

  • Don't you luv those Gibson acoustic guitars, yes, it always helps to have a very good musician play a fine vintage instrument. Good job.

  • @Papoliteo,

    Thanks for commenting.

  • I don't know about that...I grew up on bluegrass and there were many Gibsons around. You might have a case of Headstock Label Blindness. I really don't see how you could ever say this guitar couldn't be used for any music. Grow up and get that stupid mindset out of your head that you have to have a Martin to flatpick.

  • @pmscalisi ,

Thanks for your not so kind comment...

  • @pmscalisi Right on.. Gibson's have a much more balanced tone, but there are great guitars in many labels. It's the player not the guitar.

  • Very nice picking. Stop degrading your Talent buy a Martin,Satan Cruz, or a Blueridge is even better. Gibson isn't a Bluegrass guitar.

  • I like this clean way of playing, very good taste to not overdoing it and let the sound of the guitar ring out. My english is not good though...

  • @mandolinlasse ,

Thank you for your kind comment.

  • You are awesome as usual.

  • @Patriksundvik,

    Thanks!

  • Awesome Video...along with an Amazing Guitar!! I happen to own a J-45 Banner Edition, which was handed down to me from my Grandmother. My pride and joy...and it's one heck of a guitar!! Thanks for the video!!

  • @MATTNMISSY,

Thanks for commenting too. Those Banner Gibsons are my favorite acoustics.

  • that git sounds HUGE!!! my favorite type of tone from a flattop by far. Dang sweet sound. I had a few of these banners over the years but only one that sounded this big and pure. you made me miss it deeply but thanks for the reminder. I love hearing you play that beauty!!!

  • Those Banner Gibsons are my favorite flatops. Thanks for commenting!

  • You are so talented!

  • Very nice!

  • Thanks!

  • Nice that guitar was made back when Gibson still cared about it's acoustics. Not like all the dead sounding boxes they make now. Nice playing too!

  • Gibson has started making some very good acoustics the recent years.Especially the ones from their custom shop are good guitars. But still,no comparison with those prewar and wartime ones.

  • muiiiiiiiiiito loko ein!!!

  • Great sounding guitar and great playing! Can you point me to the tab for the version of Jerusalem Ridge you are playing? It sounds much better than the version I have. Thanks a lot!

  • @GotTheSilver01 ,

Thanks alot for your comments.Unfortunately i don't really have a Tab for it,it's just my own version of that classic tune and i play by ear.

  • killer tone!

  • Grat guitar and super guitar player.

  • @otregano ,

    Thanks your kind comments!

  • Great, superb playing and wonderful sound.

  • 1:17 Killed me!!!! WHAT A WONDERFUL SOUND!

  • Superclean tone! Nice guitar aswell. Bought a Martin D16 couple days ago but wondering if i would buy a J45 aswell!

  • Thank you. They sound different for sure. They have a much warmer sound, especially the old ones are spectacular.

Why don't you try a Gibson Advanced Jumbo.Long scale and very loud too. Those are some of my favorite guitars.

  • @greekflatpicker NP :) im not a fan of jumbo. Dread is my fav ;) Dont like to much bling on the fretboard or cutaways for that matters.

  • Very cool! That's a hard tune to play. You have a really smooth playing style, it's pleasant to watch.

  • Thanks alot for your kind words;much appreciated!

    Keep on picking,

  • By watching this video again i noticed that a part of the tune is missing...LOL

I only had very limited time to play those beauties, and i was anxious.

  • That is a beautiful guitar! Great playing too as always.

  • You sure take great advantage of your wonderful collection of guitars. Nice touch. Nice axe.

  • Thanks. Not all of these guitars are mine. Most of them(like this one)belong to a collector and good friend of mine.

This particular J-45 was one of the very best examples i've ever played with a great neck and action too.

  • What a nice rich vintage voice that Gibby has!

  • Nice.

And I'd love to have that guitar.

  • Ωραιότατο!!!!! Το χα πρωτακουσει σε βυνιλιο απο το "Church Street Blues" του Rice με Wyatt στην ρυθμικη!

    Κλασικος ηχος,ωραιοτατο παιξιμο,5*****

  • Thanks John!
