@gators288 na man in queensland we are all paid except for the rurals and they drive yellow trucks and you certanly wouldent see a yellow ladder truck!!
Drive hard! Live Fast! lol IMOP driver did pretty well in controlling the truck those things weight tons it takes alot to flip one maybe if the house was on a hill and it 3 wheeled it would possibly roll if he wouldnt of braked he would of slammed into the first truck. Good handling! ;) Drive it like U stole it! haha
Down here in Australia we con't call them ladder and engine.... The appliance the braked hard (But was no-where near rolling or flipping) is a Heavy pumper. The only reason it went up on three wheels is due to the first appliance stopping so close to the corner. If this heavy didn't brake hard, like he did, he would've gone up the back of the first appliance. It had nothing to do with speed.
The drivers of both apparatus should never be allowed to drive anything again, and the officers need to step in from the start of leaving the station. I am sure they drove that way all the way to the call. So the officers of both vehicles had plenty of opportunities to tell them to drive like professional servants to the public.
The officers of that company need to have disciplinary action taken on themselves for approving someone to get behind the wheel like that. Im sure everyone took notice to the pedestrians just walking around the road earlier. That would have been real nice if a child would have run out into the road when they came ripping around the corner.
That officer better lay into the driver. There is no excuse for poor, reckless driving. Your number 1 job as a driver is to get your friends there and back in one piece so they can go home to their families. I wouldn't let that driver anywhere near the front seat if he was on my company.
Nice one. Quite a bit too fast coming out of the corner. Either that or he didn't anticipate the truck in front of him stopping just around the corner. Good recovery.
being a firey as well and recently having done my response/offroad course, i sure as hell wouldnt have been going that fast, or that close, the trucks we drive are top heavy with water so you take a corner too quick or get over 13 degrees tilt you'll put it on its lid pretty soon,
and the other thing is yes, we are answerable to the road rules, we have minor exemptions but if we cause an accident enroute to a incident, expect to atleast do a please explain or front the courts for neg driving
Jeez, imagine he would've crashed the engine and injured FF and spectators. What for? There was nth to save, only protect the other buildings.
To all fellow FF out there: Keep a cool head out there even - or especially - when responding to calls! Ppl need you to get at the scene safely, otherwise you're not helping anyone!
Actually they can get pulled over. Under typical code 3 rules, we're required to drive with "due dilligence" for others' safety. We also can't go more than ten mph over the speed limit or an absolute 15mph through a red light.
The rules are ignored sometimes, but every so often a cop gets a bug up his ass and hauls a firefighter/EMT off to jail.
Then he gets reprimanded for being a dick and starting a turf war with the fire dept.
also, in the state of florida, he have DOT squad cars that can pull over anyone. they can pull over other cops, highway troopers, ambulances, firetrucks, semi-trucks. they dont care.
yea they suck haha, but our DOT are usually on the highway focusing on semi's. im not sure but i think the dot have the right to search trucks without reason.
He may have been driving a bit to fast, but it also looks like the engine in front of him stopped short and he had to swerve to go around him at the last minute.
this should be what not to do, we need to save people yes, but tipping the truck and injuring our firefighters in the process isn't going to help anything, it just means that the mutual aid is gonna get the credit for saving the house while our guys are in the ambulance, lol
I've been told that motor vehicle accidents are the second leading cause of 'in-the-line-of-duty' deaths for fire fighters. There's no reason to be tearing around that fast, and endangering the lives of residents.
no its a ladder truck its got more weight to it so he should have known better...there just idiots all that rushing and they couldnt even save anything
Actually, I'm starting to think the guy in the 2nd truck driver did a good job. He made the turn at the same speed as the first one, but had to turn harder to avoid crashing since he probably didn't realize the other firetruck was going to stop right there.
Im starting to think the person filming this set the fire. Not to mention, that department is irresponsible to be driving that fast, and not even slow down for the turn. Good thing all those people werent standing in the road when they came flying up. And yeah they prolly were racing each other to be the first one on the line. The second in truck should have caught the hydrant, if there even was one.
Koushiro4Eva You can use any excuse you want. I am a fire fighter and i have driven a fire truck. Going to fast wont pay in the long run. Its called mutual aid. You cant get it out call some one else to help. Dont kill yourself for a fire. Yes if there are people in there do your best but its not fun and games when your fire truck acutaly flips. I have never sceen it but I have heard of the bs there is.
Ok this truck was not made right. Who ever wants a frightliner FL80 to have a ladder on it is fucking stubid. Get a real chassie for it. Next is that guy was racing the engine and they both came real hot though the intersectoin. Slow down and save your life. Dont die over getting there fast. It dont pay out.
you know honestly i agree brother...they should have slowed the fuck down. The fire aint goin anywhere. And also about putting a ladder on the Freightliner. Bone Head Move
lol Queensland Fire & Rescue Service at the Gold Coast, Australia. I think the main thing is that he didn't roll it over. The bystanders certainly enjoyed it.
that shouldt have happened. i mean when u notice that ur r coming on scene or coming a round a fucking turn u NEED TO SLOW THE FUCK DOWN sorry 4 my language
Have you ever turned out???? your bloody flying and if the truck infront of you turns than your going to turn too. The peron in the passanger seat should have warned him but it happens, whats worse than that is when people don't get out of the way!
If you can't drive under control then you have no business driving that fast. You are a danger to your crew and the public watching. I hope the engineer (was that a pumper, I couldn't tell from the undercarriage) left a big crap in his pants so he never exceeds his driving capabilities again. The first engine was just as bad.
It is not a matter of who stopped where, or if the house was a total lose already. SLOW DOWN. Everyone goes home. This video should be used as training to show what not to do.
I'm also a firefighter and I agree with this video being used against the driver that was just plain stupidity. As for the comment being made that the engine stopped too fast A) no apparatus should be going that fast around a corner and B) no 2 trucks should ever follow that close especially running hot. So no the driver didn't do a good job of not hitting the engine they never should have been that close.
I am a firefighter, and have no problem with this film being used against the driver of the truck. If it were your house on fire, yes you would want a fast response, but you also want trucks to actually ARRIVE at the fire in one piece, with firefighters ALIVE. Its not a mistake it is a driver who is allowing his adrenaline levels to get the best of him.
The engine stopped abruptly in front of the ladder. They were both driving a little fast, but the ladder driver did a good job not hitting the engine.
dude reading the coments i have came to a response ok now first if he ws driving like that ya suspend him then why would he hurry now? look at the house is gone theres not a thing left. i would be there and be like guys dont spray it let it burn then i wont have to clean up
dude, like quit smokin pot, then like, dude, shut the fuck up! If like, dude, your trailor was like, burning, then like you would want a fast response, like fast, dude, from these guys, so like, chill!
NOBBY shut the fuck up any buff can film a fire but you know that the driver is a fuckin dumbass to take a corner that fast its not safe and compeletly retarded
If it was your house burning down with your loved ones inside, would you want them to drive quickly or slowly. This is just a part of their jobs. But it doesn't need to be shown across the world, and getting them in shit.
A working fire apparatus on its wheels, or a truck on its side because the driver "hurried." Which would you rather have at your burning house? There's no excuse for any wheel to leave the ground while a truck is moving.
Do you all understand that this video has sparked an investigation into the driving habits of that vehicle operator. I am not sure that you all understand the impact that a bit of harmless filming can have. A lot of fire fighters don't appreciate this filming, so I think it is high time that you gave them a break without filming this sort of stuff and getting one of them temporarily suspended from duties. Please just bear that in mind next time you go to do this.
That's right, nobby, blame the person who documented the reckless driving. It SHOULD have sparked an investigation. That's like blaming the guy who films the cops beating a guy when the cops get in trouble.
I'm glad it sparked an investigation. I'm a firefighter and the last thing I need to happen on a fire call is the driver killing us because of his crap ass driving. In the United States, fire apparatus accidents are the second leading cause of death for firefighters, the first being heart attack.
