  • I make a similar one, but wo the meat, just add corn, lima beans and mushrooms instead:)

  • The best recipe :)

but i didn't add chocolate to this, but this is the best chilli i ever made :P

    Greets from Poland :D

  • @yamakashi07

    Well done chef!

Glad you liked the recipe and I appreciate you giving it ago!

Try the chocolate next time :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • BTW cross out chocolate, try caramel ;-)

  • Can you add beer instead of the wine? I guess it would give a nice taste to the meat

  • @alasstair

I think given the choice I would prefer to use wine :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @alasstair I usually add beer to mine and it does add a nice taste to it. :-)

  • That looks so nice. Ive heard cocoa powder works as well instead of chocolate.

  • @Coffeeandasliceolife

Nice of you to drop in. I have never tried cocoa powder but does sound like a good alternative to the chocolate.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Red wine and chocolate in chili con carne?!!!

  • @peterahjorter

Some how all the flavours come together to make a really nice chilli con carne.

You don't really taste the chocolate.

This dish is defiantly worth trying :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Sorry to tell you, but Chilli con carne is not by any means MEXICAN!! It's more a British/USA bad interpretation of Mexican food.

  • While a dish with this meager amount of powdered peppers, beans and other vegetables called Chili con carne is unknown in Mexican cuisine, the real chili con carne comes from Mexican women who lived in San Antonio, Texas, on the beginning of 19th century. And never cooked with beans.

Odds are that the Sonoran version of "Carne Con Chile Colorado" which is made with powdered chiles, is a precursor to today's chili con carne. And again no beans in the same pot. Beans are served as a side dish.

  • @phasianus123

You sound very much like an expert to me and I appreciate you taking the trouble to explain that t :)

    Thanks again OriginalNakedChef

  • @sauruch1

  • Have you ever tried other spice combinations? In my chilli I usually use termeric which is like a middle eastern curry powder that looks yellow. I do like this recipe though I'm going to try it tomorrow especially with the cinnamon stick that is brilliant

  • @mdel310

I have played around with different spices and find the one I have in the video really works well. Good luck when you try it out :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • De donde sacan que el chilli con carne es Mexicano? A veces la gente anda mal informada.... me gustaria ver en algun sitio de Mexico este preparado.

  • chef ive now watched 6 videos of yours in a row.all great.as for the people that give you the thumbs down, their sick & twisted.i no you put a lot of heart & effort in to this,so its a thumbs up from me!

  • @250cosmic

Lovely comment and very much appreciated!

I guess that however good a recipe or the video that I produce, you can never lease everyone. So I guess the occasional thumbs down is inevitable.

Thanks again and hope you carry on enjoying my vids :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • The men do not like the men

  • Great recipe! I always add Star anis as as well. Gives great flavour!

  • @slimfast67

Glad you liked the recipe and thanks for the tip!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I followed this recipe to a tee. The consistency was great, but we were all a bit disappointed with how bland it seemed. I would say it needs either more chili powder, more salt, both, or something. So I give it a thumbs up, just not the right spice combo.

  • @lizbowman11

Sounds like you prefer a bit more kick in yours!

Try adding more chilli next time and taste it every now and again whilst cooking so you can adjust it to how you like yours :)

Thanks for your comment and I appreciate the thumbs up!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I put always champignons in my chili

  • @mistermarcel22

It's good that viewers make the recipe their own by adding something. Sounds good :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • thanks:)

  • @Unawatuna23

    Your welcome :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • you sound like sean lock!

  • @colditz4141

I find sean lock very funny!

    Thanks for that :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @christschool

    Thanks for your tip!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • awesome!!!!! this is the 2nd time I'm making it like this

  • @cookielover1213

    Excellent job!

Glad you enjoyed the first time and I hope you enjoy many more times to come :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I loved this recipe, checked it out instead of making it from scratch like usual. Great outcome! Thanks!

  • @ChristopherLuck

    Well done chef!

It's always better if you can do some home made cooked food!

Glad it tasted good for you and I do appreciate your comment :)

Sorry for the slow reply, I have on just spotted your comm :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • FYI, Chili DID NOT originate in Mexico, IT IS NOT a Mexican Dish ! It originated in San Antonia, Texas in 1731, created by a Spanish Nun , Sister Mary of Areda, Spain. It consisted of Meat, either Beef, Vension, or whatever stew meat was available, and onions, tomatoes, chili peppers.

  • i use cocoa powder instead of chocolate in mine = )

  • @TheFullmoonslight

Thats sounds like a good alternative!

Never tried cocoa powder. Maybe next time I will :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Im not an alcohol type of person.. Do u know any ingredients that can replace the wine..?

  • @BUNNYLOVA23

If you don’t like the idea of wine, just leave it out :)

You don’t taste the alcohol; you just get left with the flavour.

Maybe one day give it a try with the wine.

    OriginalNakedChef :)

  • only real Mexican food is only made by Mexicans...

  • loveleh!

  • @MrSw44t

    Good to hear from you!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Very nice. Since we had kids who did not like spicy hot foods, I came up with a mild but full flavored chili. The adults add red pepper flakes and hot sauce at the table, the kids eat theirs without the fire. Everyone is happy! Really like this recipe of yours and I want to give it a try. Thanks for a great video!

  • @AnotherAmateur

Glad you like the recipe and I really appreciate your comms :)

If everyones happy then I am happy too :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • i tried it..............wow best ever and ive been a food critic before

  • @TurboCharizard

Great comment especially from a food critic :)

I guess once a food critic always a food critic.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef thank you

  • which cinnamon stick do you use? Cassia or Ceylon?

  • @icegoguma

The cinnamon I used was Ceylon cinnamon from Sri Lanka.

  • @JustinH73

    Nice one!

    I hope you enjoy :)

    OriginalnakedChef

    Thanks for sharing!

  • @blutey

    Hi blutey,

    Good to hear from you.

I ought to make you my official taste tester as you seem to try most of my recipes and kindly give me some feedback on the dishes :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef I like to think I do cook a nice chili (dicey doing this as a British guy) and I've had lots of good responses on my own version but I decided to check out what other options were available on youtube. I saw a bunch of Texans who didn't know what the hell they were doing, a bunch of people who were clearly a bit disturbed and a bunch of people who were a bit half assed. This looks fantastic though!! The cocoa is a nice touch though maybe not for me. Love the fat drain!!

  • @sagamigawaville

I always like dicing with fire :)

I hoped that my chilli con carne would be well received even if a British guy was making it, luckily for me alot of viewers do like it :)

Ref the coco, as long as you don’t use too much chocolate you don’t really tastes it.

I appreciate you comments and for those kind words.

    Drop in again sometime.

    Have a good week OriginalnakedChef

  • @MizAngelwingz

    Nice one!

  • Great vid dude. You dont half sound like Jamie at times !

First one ive watched.........gonna check out some more.

Tell me tho please, i like really firey hot curries.......you got any vids bout Phal ?

  • @phalhot

I have not made a video for "Phall"(Very hot curry) as yet. You do like fiery hot curries!!

I do have a curry video recipe "Spicy lamb recipe" It's a nice lamb curry and easy to put together but probably not hot enough for you! You need more chillies!

When I make the recipes I try and make them to suit the majority.

Next time I make a curry I will keep in mind fiery hot!

    OriginalNakedChef :)

  • You can take a bowl, fill the rice in the bowl until its all filled ( a very small bowl ) then u take a plate u put the bowl in the middle then u put the perfect bowl of rice in the middle of ur plate, verse chili all around it , and persil on the top of the rice or fresh corriander.

  • i hate the peppers and tomatoes..can ii ue it without them??

    will iit make a diffrence

  • Good job! I made it and it was amazing, thanks for posting!!!!

  • good vid dood...im a CCC addict...what ive been doing lately which works well is to begin by frying a chopped dried/smoked Italian/spanish salalmi sausage type thing...lots of jummy smoky spicy oil comes out and gets the CCC off to a great start...and to all those who dont cook, get off your arses and start, its great! i dunno why ppl think its so difficult...if it tastes like shit, dont do it again,if it tastes good, try to make it better! its that simple...

  • @neilus

    Hi neilus,

I like the idea of the smoked salami style sausage to get things off to a good start. It’s all about getting good favours into the dish.

Thanks for your comms and tips.

    OriginalNakedChef

I add a can and a half of lager instead of wine...and some cayenne pepper and some Frank's RedHot Sauce, I love the way making chili makes my house smells!! I put it on potatoes, hot dogs, you name it. Thanks for the vid and recipe, I enjoyed it very much.

  • @hunclemike

It's good to hear that you like the recipe. Chilli con carne is one of those dishes that people can make their own. Your additions sound good to me.

Thanks for the tips and comms!

    Greetings from Germany!

  • @MCBorschti

That’s really nice to hear. I am glad that you and your family enjoyed the food especially after all your effort for you to cook it :))

The idea of letting it rest is a good one. Some dishes are better the next day and I think this is one of them.

To eat three servings!!! Thats pretty good going :))

I am glad you enjoyed and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @emjaiz

Yes If you dont have a cinnamon stick, you can use ground cinnamon.

Good luck today. If you get a chance, let me know how it went.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef Hey, I ended up making it. I used a slow cooker. Overall it was okay, but a bit liquidy. Reason being the recipe I used said add liquid stock, I don't think I will next time. I'll try your chili recipe this weekend probably.

  • @emjaiz

Good luck on the weekend and I hope it comes out nice :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @emjaiz you dont need to use cinnamon, I never use cinnamon and its really good.
