While a dish with this meager amount of powdered peppers, beans and other vegetables called Chili con carne is unknown in Mexican cuisine, the real chili con carne comes from Mexican women who lived in San Antonio, Texas, on the beginning of 19th century. And never cooked with beans.
Odds are that the Sonoran version of "Carne Con Chile Colorado" which is made with powdered chiles, is a precursor to today's chili con carne. And again no beans in the same pot. Beans are served as a side dish.
hehe im make some like this just now but on a crock pot i got for christmas..and im happy i did come here i knew i forgott something "paprika powder"...and i used some beer instead of red wine :)
Have you ever tried other spice combinations? In my chilli I usually use termeric which is like a middle eastern curry powder that looks yellow. I do like this recipe though I'm going to try it tomorrow especially with the cinnamon stick that is brilliant
chef ive now watched 6 videos of yours in a row.all great.as for the people that give you the thumbs down, their sick & twisted.i no you put a lot of heart & effort in to this,so its a thumbs up from me!
I followed this recipe to a tee. The consistency was great, but we were all a bit disappointed with how bland it seemed. I would say it needs either more chili powder, more salt, both, or something. So I give it a thumbs up, just not the right spice combo.
FYI, Chili DID NOT originate in Mexico, IT IS NOT a Mexican Dish ! It originated in San Antonia, Texas in 1731, created by a Spanish Nun , Sister Mary of Areda, Spain. It consisted of Meat, either Beef, Vension, or whatever stew meat was available, and onions, tomatoes, chili peppers.
Very nice. Since we had kids who did not like spicy hot foods, I came up with a mild but full flavored chili. The adults add red pepper flakes and hot sauce at the table, the kids eat theirs without the fire. Everyone is happy! Really like this recipe of yours and I want to give it a try. Thanks for a great video!
@OriginalNakedChef I like to think I do cook a nice chili (dicey doing this as a British guy) and I've had lots of good responses on my own version but I decided to check out what other options were available on youtube. I have not made a video for "Phall"(Very hot curry) as yet. You do like fiery hot curries!!
I do have a curry video recipe "Spicy lamb recipe" It's a nice lamb curry and easy to put together but probably not hot enough for you! You need more chillies!
When I make the recipes I try and make them to suit the majority.
Next time I make a curry I will keep in mind fiery hot!
I must admit there have been a few videos that I have made when I have felt tired or had a cold/flu.This could have been one of them. I think the Red Thai Curry video was another one I made when I had a cold.
Maybe I go for the hotter dishes when I have a cold/ flu to try and shift it :))
I am amazed that you have watched & cooked so many of my videos. I really do appreciate that. I hope you have enjoyed most of them.
Just made this a few hours ago and its DELICIOUS!! I'm 13 and made it for dinner today, and my whole family loved it. I'm definitely making this again! BTW I left out the cinnamon and red wine and it still tasted fab!!
You can take a bowl, fill the rice in the bowl until its all filled ( a very small bowl ) then u take a plate u put the bowl in the middle then u put the perfect bowl of rice in the middle of ur plate, verse chili all around it , and persil on the top of the rice or fresh corriander.
good vid dood...im a CCC addict...what ive been doing lately which works well is to begin by frying a chopped dried/smoked Italian/spanish salalmi sausage type thing...lots of jummy smoky spicy oil comes out and gets the CCC off to a great start...and to all those who dont cook, get off your arses and start, its great! i dunno why ppl think its so difficult...if it tastes like shit, dont do it again,if it tastes good, try to make it better! its that simple...
I really love your recipe, it's almost exactly like my own!! @OriginalNakedChef Hey, I ended up making it. I used a slow cooker. Overall it was okay, but a bit liquidy. Reason being the recipe I used said add liquid stock, I don't think I will next time. I'll try your chili recipe this weekend probably.
You are the man!! Me and my roommates are students, we cant afford lush meals every day but once or twice aweek we pick a random video of yours and try to reinact! brilliant recepies mate!
I make a similar one, but wo the meat, just add corn, lima beans and mushrooms instead:)

@OriginalNakedChef Hey, I ended up making it. I used a slow cooker. Overall it was okay, but a bit liquidy. Reason being the recipe I used said add liquid stock, I don't think I will next time. I'll try your chili recipe this weekend probably.
