@luv4cookie1 politics.....shannons should have been a 10 and she would have won the AA.....her form and landing on the first one were prefection. even in slo mo you can really find anything wrong.
i still always wonder either, "how did gymnasts in 91 and 92 always stick there yurchenko fulls" and/or "why can't gymnasts today ever do it like that" any elite gymnast i've ever watched of today cannot make it look like that, with the stretched position, the perfect landing every time. idk, maybe it has to do with the fact that they didn't use ridiculously enormous-thick mats
Do many girls at top international meets even compete a Yurchenko full anymore? It's been so devalued in the code of points that I usually see athletes attempting significantly more difficult Yurchenko-styled vaults. I suspect that's why no one today can put the extra polish on their vaults . . . everyone's too busy trying to add one or two more extra twists. The flare and stick just isn't as easy on today's monster vaults as it was on this relatively simpler vault.
at this worlds, there were many yurchenko fulls. (Porgras, Tsurumi). I think it's because the the 1 1/2 was devalued, so the .3 you get from SV is no longer worth it.
this vault gave the americans the silver ahead of romania. between the 91, 96 & 03 losses 2 the USA, u know those romanians must grimace every time a major meet is awarded 2 the US, lol.
Was this a ten? Is it just me or did she hop on the landing?

@gymnasticsloverxoxo yeah there is a little movement there. This is not "perfect"

how could this vault get a ten and shannon miller's vault in 1992 AA not get one? shannon's was obviousley the better vault!

History shows that this would be the last perfect ten to ever be scored on the vault in world competition.

This was the exact moment of this competition that made me fall in love with the sport! I was only 12.

This was my favorite moment in gymnastics history. Do you have the whole clip of this? I love Bela's reactions after that vault.
