  • Should have got Marlon Brando to do the butter commercial.

  • Is it just me or is the subtext of the Granada advert "well, at least it's not a tractor"?

  • 2.57 - is that Ray Winstone??

  • @RedHeadVicky yes it is!

  • @RedHeadVicky - yep

  • If Alan Partridge were real - He'd definitely Have starred in the ford Granada advert!

  • I do not know what brand of butter it is but that springs to mind in one of them from the late 1980s/early 1990s about a young black boy caught in a showery snowflake.

  • Those granadas were good cars. tended to rot around the back arches a bit but fine otherwise

  • bloody rude of that Granada driver to just pull out in front of that tractor as it was pulling out! they give us potato's dammit!

  • ...and he also gave us Isla St Clair

  • car commercials which actually show the car wow that doesnt happen anymore

  • Ray Winstone with a black eye

  • Did you notice the black guy, white a white eye?

  • Tasty tasty very very tasty there very tasty

  • That butter ad seems kinda sinster to me!

  • I have no idea who was behind the butter ad. It may be a running comercial that showed the organistation behind it in some later ads. Unfortunatly I don't have any more ads that follow from these so its a bit of a mistery.

  • @Matty112uk Re: The butter advert - If I recall correctly it was actually sponsored by the UK Dairy industry. This was probably in response to declining sales due to a greater awareness of the danger of saturated fats and the general health / fitness movement of the 1980's.

  • MS were getting quite strong in the business IT field in 1985. Even Word Perfect would have to run on top of MS-Dos.

  • you mean there was a time then microsoft didn't have a straglehold on PC's

  • Yes, this was also a time when we still got snow!

  • Haha! Too right!

  • Re the butter ad, what exactly was being advertised? The Dairy Board? Butter Marketing Board? British Butter? Can anybody recall the exact company/ entity paying for the ad?

  • No thats fine I know your not being patronising. As allways I welcome your comments. Thanks.

Guys with tashes, its funny how you don't see them anymore, except for my dad who's had a tash ever since the late 70's. The butter ad reminded me of that lol.

  • Sorry if this sounds patronising or the like, Janet Dibley was the lead actress in ITV sitcom The Two of Us. She was also in EastEnders about 10 years ago as a drunken girlfriend of Phil Mitchell and also in the ITV series Fat Friends.

  • Lol I have no Idea who Janet Dibley is/was I was only a 7 year old nipper at the time. I recognised Ray Winston though.

  • Is that Janet Dibley in the middle part of the butter advert? Before Isla St Clair.

Hywel Bennett talks up the Ford Granada, and Ray Winstone is the one with the bruiser in the Bran Flakes ad.

  • No, Col, it's the lovely Jill Meager.
