False equivalence - Islam does not equal terrorism.
Terrorism does not mean 'One guy making the decision to go ballistic' it denotes a systematic conspiracy to terrorise, not an individual instance of violence.
part2. thier are plenty of rightwing christian nutjobs out there that would love to start the next "holy war" against muslims to either exterminate them or bring in the inquisitors to convert them. my call on it all is the real bane to existence and society is religion itself because all of these religious people are mental to a greater or lesser degree. the extremist ones in any religion will do anything to support thier views up to and including murder....
about the only thing i agree with in regards to the colonel is about political correctness. which i think is the bane of society today. but the problem is with these nutjobs at fox news and these people like the colonel they interview is that they are every bit as extreme as the muslims or terrorist they claim to be against. and christianity is not without it's own bloosshed. inquisitions, witchhunts crusades etc. part2
As an Atheist I think all you god people are nuts to some degree. But then degree is the key word isn't it? You name one guy, I can point to thousands. Christianity teaches forgiveness, Islam teaches conquest.
I will fight with the Christians to achieve a 'final solution'
Christianity is responsible for most of the worst mass-murders in history. If it weren't for Christian aggression there would be no 'fundamentalism' in Islam. The very term is borrowed from Christianity.
Islam teaches respect for other's beliefs and tolerance - Mohammad himself lived among pagans, Christians and Jews - many of whom converted to his ways because of his example, but none of whom were forced to. Religions can be twisted to justify anything - there is nothing inherently evil there.
Muslim arabs invaded "Christendom" (and Europe) long before the crusades. And the two greatest mass-murderers in history were Mao and Stalin, neither of whom were christians. I'm no christian either, by the way.
The inquisition, the witch hunts, the slaughter of Pagans throughout Europe and then the French and British Empires, spreading Christianity, 'civilizing the natives' - slaughters of thousands at a time, of pagans, of jews, of blacks, of women, of Muslims in the Crusades.
I didn't say 'Mao and Stalin were Christian' I said 'Christians are responsible for most of the mass murders in history'. Besides, many of the followers of Stalin - and Hitler - were.
@FDASARO You liberals are the terrorists and terrorist supporters. You support the Fort Hood shooting, murder of the Arkansas recruiter, and animal rights extremists who firebomb research labs.
god. there are so many white supremacists in the army. click on some of these survivalists youtube channels. lots of ex army good ol boys with favorited white power metal etc.
Many different religions kill in the name of God. Christians killed in the name of God for centuries. It just goes to show that when irresponsible demagogues preach hate and violence in the name of God, there will be hateful and violent consequences. Let's learn that lesson rather than learning more hate and fear towards Muslims.
Hmm, he has a point. I think his religious idelog has less to do with it that u'd assume. He is a coward, just happens to be a islamic coward with homicidal tendencies.
im tired of hearing people say they feel for the muslim community bc their scared of a backlash. why are we worried about them? there havent been any instances of muslim soldiers being targeted and killed, only the muslims killing innocent people in the name of their false god. time to start protecting our people and stop kissing up to the muslim world. so many warning signs of this dudes radical view, and yet no precaution bc of "political correctness".
Muslim soldiers have died for this country. Jewish soldiers have died for this country. This is not a Christian nation, anybody can sign up to die, despite their beliefs. It is fair to say that most soldiers are Christian, therefore most of the murders committed while at war in Iraq and Afghanistan were committed by Christian people against Muslim people. We need to protect the Muslims from Christians if you ask me.
dood theres a big difference in a soldier being at war killing the enemy than a soldier going to base in our homeland killing young men, pregnant women, all innocent people while yelling praise allah.. i mean seriously. im sure he was just visiting radical islamic websites bc he was curious, had nothing to do with his faith that promotes killing. his religion had everything to do with it.
Christianity is one of the most violent books ever. Read it sometime. And for your information we aren't over there killing the enemy because we don't know what the enemy looks like. We are killing civilians! over 100,000 Iraqi civilians have died since we've went over there. So technically the Ft. Hood shootings are more justified then the killings in Iraq(for the record I do not condone the killings) but according to your logic its ok to kill when we are at war. we've done 9/11 times 1 million
know why civilians get killed? cause they are cowards and dress like civilians and set up ambushes in highly populated civilian areas. shame on you for even saying or implying in any way ft hood was justified. and ive read the bible, read it every day. im christian. christianity is peace and love. doesnt promote violence. please know what your talking about before you speak.
Wow I was raised Christian. It is very violent, actually it doesn't get peaceful until the new testament. There were killings all over that book. You must have skipped over those parts. Shame on you for justifying the killing of civilians. We don't know who we are fighting so lets just shoot everybody
first off i never said we should just kill everybody, what im saying is civilian casualties will happen with tactics like those that the terrorists, yes i said terrorists, use. secondly, no ive skipped nothing in my bible. its everyday life for me. i know the lord and what the lord says through his word, and its not violence. btw, jesus said no one comes to the father except through him. islam wont get you there.
See thats the problem there. Your views of Christianity have pinned you against other religions. And how did you miss the murder of babies in Exodus, the murder of all those people who weren't with God? Hello thats called Genocide. Anyways there isn't a point arguing with people who believe in wtiches and talking snakes. 100,000+ civilian casualties? thats not something that just happens. And these people aren't terrorist sorry, they are freedom fighters.
@crtnyevans: It's quite tiresome to see the finger pointed at Christianity whenever Islamic terrorism occurs. While it may be true that there is violence in the OT (as well as the NT), I would challenge you to cite relevant sources (i.e. commentaries, dictionaries, theological papers) that interpret specific passages to do violence on non-Christians today. If you do not have them, then please exegete those passages using proper grammatical-historical and redemptive-historical methods.
@crtnyevans: With regard to those examples that you appear to cite from the Pentateuch, do you know their historical and literary contexts? Why were such people killed? What were these people like? Who gave the commands to kill them? Does the person giving the commands have the authority to kill them? Do you know the Creator/creature distinction? Do you know the attributes of God? What's the relationship between the people of Israel and God, who delivered them out of Egypt?
Just Fox stirring the pot again. This is the red meat their audience wants. They want to hear about all his "arrongant Muslim-ness" that way they have a justification for blowing away the first Muslim they see look funny at them.
Would not be surprised to see this situation end up like the Dr. Tiller saga. Granted Hasan doesn't elicit my sympathy but it's all the same. Fox does this all the time. They're more descrete with their black and gay bashing but they know their audience's prejudices.
While I don't know whether or not this should be tried as a terrorism case and I sympathize with American Muslims bracing for the ignorant backlash, I have seen my fair share of PC liberals who avoided the most obvious theory about what was going on with this guy (Radical, anti-American) in the name of not seeming bigoted. And yeah, that probably played a part in no body noticing any of these red flags.
people need to step away from these stone age myths and these idiotic ideas of salvation.... it doesnt matter its Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, or Scientology... it all ridiculous
We are all American, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhists, Atheist, Agnostic and every other heretical and demonized group on the face of this planet.I may not believe what you believe in but I will defend with my life your right to say it.This Fuck was just that, a fucked up guy,no matter the reasons he did what he did.If anyone else had done this we would not be blaming Christianity, and there is no reason to blame Muslims for this mans crime. and whoever believes sins are inherited fuck them
that asshole is retired he has no idea what really lead to what happen. what lead up to this horrific incident and start acting racist on national. then he sticks up for white supremacist.
I think conservatives have a legitimate point on this one. Why is everybody so afraid of saying the truth, that this was a terrorist act? Just like that kid in Pittsburgh who killed 3 cops, and the white supremacist who killed a guard at the holocaust museum in D.C., and like Columbine and Oklahoma city, they are all acts of terrorism. What's the big deal about calling it what it is? It is terrorism and in this case the guy was influenced by his religion, you can't deny that.
When did the shooter say that he was influenced by his religion. He was pissed that he was getting sent to war. He didn't want to go, could that not be a reason? We don't know the reason so stop making shit up based on religion
Again, you evasive idiot, the god that this man referred to was the Islamic one. All three religions are exclusive in their dogmas, so don't give me this bullshit about all worshiping the same god.
Wow you keep showing your ignorance about religion. The main difference between Christians and Muslims, their beliefs about Jesus, not God. Sorry to break it to you but Muslims believe in Jesus to. You won't hear a Muslim say anything bad about Jesus. They just don't believe that he is the son of God. But they do believe in the same God.
You are really fucking ignorant, aren't you? Let me make this simple for you: the Muslim "jesus" is different than the Christian one. Two differences are he wasn't crucified, and he ISN'T GOD --in Islam.
Here is another try to help your dumb mind understand:
1. Jewish god would not accept Christans/Muslims according to their doctrine.
haha totally agree. Only people who believe Islam is violent are Christians. I've never heard Atheist or Agnostic make such dumbass remarks. I'm Agnostic by the way
Smh...Where in the Bible does it say I will send Jews/Muslims to hell? It doesn't, it says I will send non believers to hell. The non believers are made up in your head according to what you believe. If your Muslim, the non believers are Christians/Jews. If your Christian the nonbelievers are Muslims and Jews and everybody else. I already said that Muslims didn't believe that he was the son of God but that doesn't make him a different person.
actually muslims believe that jesus was a prophet and that the prophet muhammad was also a prophet and the last one. jewish people believe jesus was the crazy man on the street corner. christian believe that jesus was the messiah.
hagia sophia a church in turkey which was once known as byzantine attest to this fact. when the muslims took over they did not destroy the christian artifacts.
According to articles on CNN, ABCnews, CBS, msnbc and Huff post, among others, the feds have been tracking this guy for some time, he had expressed he didn't want to go fight against other muslims because he was muslim, he had praised suicidal terrorist attacks as heroic, and the more details come out the more clear it is. I'm not saying all muslims are like this guy, what I am saying is that this was an act of terrorism and the army looks foolish trying to influence our perception on this.
First off it seems illegal that everything he did in privacy is now known and was being looked at. And the fact that he didn't want to fight other Muslims doesn't mean anything either. If he was influenced by his religion I need him to say it and I need more evidence. These are suspicions man
Because of people like you is that this things will continue to happen. Now go and tell the families of the 13 American soldiers this scumbag murdered that it is "illegal" to look at what this monster did in his "private life" ! Are you serious? Let just leave it at that, ok....
Ok great so lets just invade everybody's privacy so we can catch somebody. He has less than one percent chance of being a terrorist. Yes I am very serious, and I would tell it to the families face that these things cannot be stopped. Look at the man in Orlando, where were his warning signs? He wasn't a Muslim and didn't look up things online. Yet he still committed an act of terrorism. He probably was a Christian
I am a Muslim and I have to agree with you on this one. There are some crazy Muslims out there, I come across them from time to time online. We have very strong disagreements about religious issues. But, from knowing as many Muslims as I do, I know they are not in the majority. So I don't know what the right answer is. It's not so extreme as kicking out every Muslim in the military or viewing your Muslim neighbor with suspicion, but on the other hand, there are things people need to look out for.
So a day later a man ran into an office building and killed a person and shot 6 others. He was a crazy person. His actions weren't influenced by his religion that we know of. But at the same time nobody is even thinking maybe he is a terrorist. why not? Because he isn't muslim. Virginia Tech. Not a muslim, not considered a terrorist. Columbine. Not muslims not considered terrorist. Get where I'm going
The word terrorism used nowadays is a way to provoke fear in the public. Yes, Islam is an extreme religion -- let's not pretend it's a religion of peace, but at the same time, try not to get manipulated by these people. The bankers, corporations, and the politicians who are owned by them, are the biggest terrorists, and they use Islamic terrorism as a diversion to keep people from knowing the truth.
No Islam is no more extreme than Christianity. Sorry I won't blame an entire religion for what only a few people have done. Even if a million muslims went on shooting rampages they would be in the minority
Personally, I reserve the term "terrorism" for ORGANIZED acts of killing for a political or religious cause. Not spontaneous ones, whatever their motivation at the last minute.
Atta, McVeigh...definitely terrorists. Their acts were planned and designed to intimidate and have a political impact.
Poplawski, von Brunn...crackpots.
This guy? Too early to tell, but I'm thinking with the kind of access he had, he could have done a lot more damage if he'd been planning a terrorist act.
Yeah sure the guy was born american in VA, "Muslim terrorist" yeah sure, how about 4million american muslims decide one fucking day to blow up your nuts. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN "TERRORISM" they not even asking the real question, why he did, what what was the reason behind it. Fucking idiots,
Note that this same book-promoting scaremonger was trying to say that the fact that some interns on Capitol Hill happen to be muslim was a sneaky spy plot by terrorists.
People like this can't accept that everyone in the US isn't a christian. And note also, the things he said about CAIR can also be said about innumerable christian groups who proudly proclaim it is their mission to fill the halls of DC to promote christianity...but that's ok apparently.
This dude, however messed up in the head, is a member of the human species, whether these guys like that or not. He was an American, and entitled to go around town dressed HOWEVER THE FUCK HE WANTED. I don't recall there being an American dress code.
That this guy flipped out and shot people while being a muslim is no more Islamic terrorism than Timothy McVey was Irish-Catholic terrorism. He was a disturbed individual who flipped out.
Its become a national pastime...You know, disturbed individuals hitting the shopping mall, schools, churches, and even military bases...And, may I remind, they come from all "species". Was Columbine H.S. a terrorist attack? Why are US Americans so deranged?
it's all relativism. Palestinians shooting rockets into Isreal killing dozens civilians is terrorism, the US shooting rockets from Predator drones into Pakistan killing dozens of civilians is collateral damage.
I mean, I get it, people are jumpy about Islam, and a muslim who goes postal leads people's heads to spin on their shoulders. But it should be processed as a crime, which is what it is. Not some protracted tribal insult requiring a violent response in kind.
I don't know if I would call it terrorism. I thought terrorism was directed at civilians, this guy attacked soldiers on a base. Rupert Murdoch, now that's a terrorist.
Obama didn't have the facts when he gave his speech about Fort Hood...he hadn't even been told about it but approximately forty five minutes before the speech. It was longer still till the fact that he was Islamic had been released.
Secondly, this is all a bit jingoistic. Pretty soon you'll see the racist red neck sob's and the GOP calling for Muslim member of the armed forces to be banned.
Typical logical fallacy. Most terrorists are Muslims is not reversible to most Muslims are terrorists. If there are 10 Muslim terrorists in this country and 4 million Muslims, that would mean 0.0000025% of Muslims are terrorists.
Not only that but, numerically speaking, the majority of suicide bombings in recent history have been carried out by the Tamil Tigers in Shri Lanka. They're Hindus, but (for some strange reason) you don't see people going around claiming Hinduism is a dangerous religion that inspires suicide bombers. Ditto for the Basque suicide bombers in Spain, who are athiests.
As we saw with Christianity in the middle ages, any religion or ideology can be turned into a violent cult by demagogues.
I'm a Dem and I agree with Fox and this guy 100%. The incidents with Muslim military members are numerically disproportionate to their size in the armed forces. From the reports I've heard about this guy, there were definitely warning signs. My guess is that everyone was too scared to be "the racist" in the room and call him out on it. Being sensitive and progressive is one thing, allowing a group to repeatedly kill our soldiers is something else.
That example doesn't apply at all here. This isn't Christian vs Muslim. This is a disproportionately high number of fratricide incidents involving Muslim members of the armed forces. There is a trend and it should be investigated. I'd rather hurt some feelings pulling someone aside and having a frank discussion with them then to allow something like this to happen because I didn't want to appear insensitive. This is life and death.
So we should also pull aside all black people in the military because the number of murderers disproportionately favors african americans? Man we didn't see the signs coming. And we should also pull aside every white male because they committ most of the rapes that happen on military bases?
wow hold on buddy what kind of homicide are you talking about when reffering to so called african american? And what statistics is that? can i have the website?
You can google it I don't know the exact numbers, but that wasn't the point I was making. I'm black and I have never murdered anyone, but according to his logic we should purge people based on trends and numbers..pretty stupid
"A disproportionately high number of fratricide incidents involving Muslim members of the armed forces."
You consider TWO a disproportionately high number? What are you comparing it to? What other types of fratricide have you considered?
I'm not going overboard with the PC, here. Some considerations need to be made. ie-there was a reason why the 442nd Nisei Regiment was sent to fight in Europe instead of the Pacific during WWII. But there is no TREND of Muslim fratricide in the army.
So because he wore traditional Muslim clothing he should have been called out. We cannot and shuoldn't discriminate based upon race or faith. He had every right to dress and act how he wanted to. If he wants to look at things on his computer he can. Don't get paranoid and start looking at Musllims weird like we did after 9/11. Until the suspect says what triggered him we cannot use his faith as an excuse. And we cannot start investigating all Muslims either
Good thinking guys, lets turn this into a religious/racial thing!
What they mean is "We only should trust Christians anyways" *_*
Purge everyone who else speaks "terrorist" I mean Arabic/Dhari/Pashto. From a totally pragmatic POV it makes no sense, you need the linguists and understanding of M. E. culture. What a Mike Foxtrot ;)
seriously though, what a hateful goon. Why don't we put all Muslims in camps why we are at it?
It's so sad, because I can't trust what they say anymore. When he say the things this man did prior to the shooting, I have to look it up before I believe it. Why can't they just tell the truth so I can trust them.

Terrorism does not mean 'One guy making the decision to go ballistic' it denotes a systematic conspiracy to terrorise, not an individual instance of violence.

MadDogOfist 2 years ago
Muslim arabs invaded "Christendom" (and Europe) long before the crusades. And the two greatest mass-murderers in history were Mao and Stalin, neither of whom were christians. I'm no christian either, by the way.
seans10 2 years ago
When?
The inquisition, the witch hunts, the slaughter of Pagans throughout Europe and then the French and British Empires, spreading Christianity, 'civilizing the natives' - slaughters of thousands at a time, of pagans, of jews, of blacks, of women, of Muslims in the Crusades.
I didn't say 'Mao and Stalin were Christian' I said 'Christians are responsible for most of the mass murders in history'. Besides, many of the followers of Stalin - and Hitler - were.
Of the two, Islam is less bloody.

Many different religions kill in the name of God. Christians killed in the name of God for centuries. It just goes to show that when irresponsible demagogues preach hate and violence in the name of God, there will be hateful and violent consequences. Let's learn that lesson rather than learning more hate and fear towards Muslims.

im tired of hearing people say they feel for the muslim community bc their scared of a backlash. why are we worried about them? there havent been any instances of muslim soldiers being targeted and killed, only the muslims killing innocent people in the name of their false god. time to start protecting our people and stop kissing up to the muslim world. so many warning signs of this dudes radical view, and yet no precaution bc of "political correctness".
normaspleen 2 years ago
Muslim soldiers have died for this country. Jewish soldiers have died for this country. This is not a Christian nation, anybody can sign up to die, despite their beliefs. It is fair to say that most soldiers are Christian, therefore most of the murders committed while at war in Iraq and Afghanistan were committed by Christian people against Muslim people. We need to protect the Muslims from Christians if you ask me.
crtnyevans 2 years ago
dood theres a big difference in a soldier being at war killing the enemy than a soldier going to base in our homeland killing young men, pregnant women, all innocent people while yelling praise allah.. i mean seriously. im sure he was just visiting radical islamic websites bc he was curious, had nothing to do with his faith that promotes killing. his religion had everything to do with it.
normaspleen 2 years ago
Christianity is one of the most violent books ever. Read it sometime. And for your information we aren't over there killing the enemy because we don't know what the enemy looks like. We are killing civilians! over 100,000 Iraqi civilians have died since we've went over there. So technically the Ft. Hood shootings are more justified then the killings in Iraq(for the record I do not condone the killings) but according to your logic its ok to kill when we are at war. we've done 9/11 times 1 million
crtnyevans 2 years ago
know why civilians get killed? cause they are cowards and dress like civilians and set up ambushes in highly populated civilian areas. shame on you for even saying or implying in any way ft hood was justified. and ive read the bible, read it every day. im christian. christianity is peace and love. doesnt promote violence. please know what your talking about before you speak.
normaspleen 2 years ago
Wow I was raised Christian. It is very violent, actually it doesn't get peaceful until the new testament. There were killings all over that book. You must have skipped over those parts. Shame on you for justifying the killing of civilians. We don't know who we are fighting so lets just shoot everybody
crtnyevans 2 years ago
first off i never said we should just kill everybody, what im saying is civilian casualties will happen with tactics like those that the terrorists, yes i said terrorists, use. secondly, no ive skipped nothing in my bible. its everyday life for me. i know the lord and what the lord says through his word, and its not violence. btw, jesus said no one comes to the father except through him. islam wont get you there.
normaspleen 2 years ago
See thats the problem there. Your views of Christianity have pinned you against other religions. And how did you miss the murder of babies in Exodus, the murder of all those people who weren't with God? Hello thats called Genocide. Anyways there isn't a point arguing with people who believe in wtiches and talking snakes. 100,000+ civilian casualties? thats not something that just happens. And these people aren't terrorist sorry, they are freedom fighters.
crtnyevans 2 years ago
@crtnyevans: It's quite tiresome to see the finger pointed at Christianity whenever Islamic terrorism occurs. While it may be true that there is violence in the OT (as well as the NT), I would challenge you to cite relevant sources (i.e. commentaries, dictionaries, theological papers) that interpret specific passages to do violence on non-Christians today. If you do not have them, then please exegete those passages using proper grammatical-historical and redemptive-historical methods.
bigfathairywookie 2 years ago
@crtnyevans: With regard to those examples that you appear to cite from the Pentateuch, do you know their historical and literary contexts? Why were such people killed? What were these people like? Who gave the commands to kill them? Does the person giving the commands have the authority to kill them? Do you know the Creator/creature distinction? Do you know the attributes of God? What's the relationship between the people of Israel and God, who delivered them out of Egypt?
bigfathairywookie 2 years ago
Just Fox stirring the pot again. This is the red meat their audience wants. They want to hear about all his "arrongant Muslim-ness" that way they have a justification for blowing away the first Muslim they see look funny at them.
Would not be surprised to see this situation end up like the Dr. Tiller saga. Granted Hasan doesn't elicit my sympathy but it's all the same. Fox does this all the time. They're more descrete with their black and gay bashing but they know their audience's prejudices.

Wow you keep showing your ignorance about religion. The main difference between Christians and Muslims, their beliefs about Jesus, not God. Sorry to break it to you but Muslims believe in Jesus to. crtnyevans 2 years ago
2. Christian god sends Jews/Muslims to hell
3. Muslim god sends Christians/jews to hell.

I already said that Muslims didn't believe that he was the son of God but that doesn't make him a different person.
crtnyevans 2 years ago
actually muslims believe that jesus was a prophet and that the prophet muhammad was also a prophet and the last one. jewish people believe jesus was the crazy man on the street corner. christian believe that jesus was the messiah.
hagia sophia a church in turkey which was once known as byzantine attest to this fact. when the muslims took over they did not destroy the christian artifacts.
1samothrace77 2 years ago
According to articles on CNN, ABCnews, CBS, msnbc and Huff post, among others, the feds have been tracking this guy for some time, he had expressed he didn't want to go fight against other muslims because he was muslim, he had praised suicidal terrorist attacks as heroic, and the more details come out the more clear it is. I'm not saying all muslims are like this guy, what I am saying is that this was an act of terrorism and the army looks foolish trying to influence our perception on this.
oldtownkid 2 years ago
First off it seems illegal that everything he did in privacy is now known and was being looked at. And the fact that he didn't want to fight other Muslims doesn't mean anything either. If he was influenced by his religion I need him to say it and I need more evidence. These are suspicions man
crtnyevans 2 years ago
Because of people like you is that this things will continue to happen. Now go and tell the families of the 13 American soldiers this scumbag murdered that it is "illegal" to look at what this monster did in his "private life" ! Are you serious? Let just leave it at that, ok....
oldtownkid 2 years ago
Ok great so lets just invade everybody's privacy so we can catch somebody. He has less than one percent chance of being a terrorist. Yes I am very serious, and I would tell it to the families face that these things cannot be stopped. Look at the man in Orlando, where were his warning signs? He wasn't a Muslim and didn't look up things online. Yet he still committed an act of terrorism. He probably was a Christian
crtnyevans 2 years ago
I am a Muslim and I have to agree with you on this one. There are some crazy Muslims out there, I come across them from time to time online. We have very strong disagreements about religious issues. But, from knowing as many Muslims as I do, I know they are not in the majority. So I don't know what the right answer is. It's not so extreme as kicking out every Muslim in the military or viewing your Muslim neighbor with suspicion, but on the other hand, there are things people need to look out for.
safiya52 2 years ago 2
So a day later a man ran into an office building and killed a person and shot 6 others. He was a crazy person. His actions weren't influenced by his religion that we know of. But at the same time nobody is even thinking maybe he is a terrorist. why not? Because he isn't muslim. Virginia Tech. Not a muslim, not considered a terrorist. Columbine. Not muslims not considered terrorist. Get where I'm going
crtnyevans 2 years ago 2
The word terrorism used nowadays is a way to provoke fear in the public. Yes, Islam is an extreme religion -- let's not pretend it's a religion of peace, but at the same time, try not to get manipulated by these people. The bankers, corporations, and the politicians who are owned by them, are the biggest terrorists, and they use Islamic terrorism as a diversion to keep people from knowing the truth.

crtnyevans 2 years ago
No one is blaming entire religions-- and Christianity is just as bad.
I'm just saying, Islam is not a benign religion, and it's a false religion.. (just like all the rest of them).
mrblob20 2 years ago
Well if all religions are based upon falsehoods, then they are true religions right? Anyways I get what your saying, but most Muslims are peaceful
crtnyevans 2 years ago
I agree. I don't like the word terrorist, and I don't use it. That doesn't mean his actions weren't influenced by his view of Islam.
safiya52 2 years ago
Personally, I reserve the term "terrorism" for ORGANIZED acts of killing for a political or religious cause. Not spontaneous ones, whatever their motivation at the last minute.
Atta, McVeigh...definitely terrorists. Their acts were planned and designed to intimidate and have a political impact.
Poplawski, von Brunn...crackpots.
This guy? Too early to tell, but I'm thinking with the kind of access he had, he could have done a lot more damage if he'd been planning a terrorist act.
TrollBuster9090 2 years ago

GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago 3

Typical logical fallacy. Most terrorists are Muslims is not reversible to most Muslims are terrorists. If there are 10 Muslim terrorists in this country and 4 million Muslims, that would mean 0.0000025% of Muslims are terrorists.
sparc5 2 years ago 3
Not only that but, numerically speaking, the majority of suicide bombings in recent history have been carried out by the Tamil Tigers in Shri Lanka. They're Hindus, but (for some strange reason) you don't see people going around claiming Hinduism is a dangerous religion that inspires suicide bombers. Ditto for the Basque suicide bombers in Spain, who are athiests.
As we saw with Christianity in the middle ages, any religion or ideology can be turned into a violent cult by demagogues.
TrollBuster9090 2 years ago
I'm a Dem and I agree with Fox and this guy 100%. The incidents with Muslim military members are numerically disproportionate to their size in the armed forces. From the reports I've heard about this guy, there were definitely warning signs. My guess is that everyone was too scared to be "the racist" in the room and call him out on it. Being sensitive and progressive is one thing, allowing a group to repeatedly kill our soldiers is something else.

TheFolkUtopia 2 years ago 2
That example doesn't apply at all here. This isn't Christian vs Muslim. This is a disproportionately high number of fratricide incidents involving Muslim members of the armed forces. There is a trend and it should be investigated. I'd rather hurt some feelings pulling someone aside and having a frank discussion with them then to allow something like this to happen because I didn't want to appear insensitive. This is life and death.
ishmealm 2 years ago
So we should also pull aside all black people in the military because the number of murderers disproportionately favors african americans? Man we didn't see the signs coming. And we should also pull aside every white male because they committ most of the rapes that happen on military bases?

"A disproportionately high number of fratricide incidents involving Muslim members of the armed forces."
You consider TWO a disproportionately high number? What are you comparing it to? What other types of fratricide have you considered?
I'm not going overboard with the PC, here. Some considerations need to be made. ie-there was a reason why the 442nd Nisei Regiment was sent to fight in Europe instead of the Pacific during WWII. But there is no TREND of Muslim fratricide in the army.
