Usually you should shift at the redline. Even though it probably gives less power then than at, say, 6000 rpm, it is still more than it would give if you shifted up to the next gear.

I dont know if you have realized, but german people are a little bit fucked up! Building an SUV, oh pardon me, a car, oh shit, it's not a car either; yeah whatever, whatever that FUCK that is, is crazy on it's own. When driving it, it gives you the sensation that it's useless and hard and slow, and threatens to kill you at the same time. Now putting a crazy engine and FIERCE transmission on this thing is like putting a rocket engine on a B52 which already has bloody afterburners! Good job by BMW
