  • Bruckner: Half simpleton, half god. How did he do it?

  • ...estoy escuchando esta 8va Sinfonía de Bruckner y ....me asombra....la veo,

la siento majestuosa, profunda, con sentido, .....como en la mejor época

    clásica.....

  • I love the way girl in blue stands her head up right at the moment where recapitulation starts; 5.44.

The whole passage by 4.35 is I think other worldly.

  • flashes of magic and its so frustrating

  • in my opinion, bruckner is - together with Beethoven - the greater composer of the 19th century. after him, no greater composer has emerged. but few people can understand this, because his music is very difficult even for classical music lovers...

  • @anastassisphil

Mate, are you not forgetting Mahler, Wagner? Stravinsky, Schoenberg, Bartok, Ligeti?

And hes music isn't hard at all to listen to, It is very consonante.

  • A performance of radiant beauty, divinity, spiritual strength. The playing of the Vienna Philharmonic is beyond reproach, beyond praise, beyond human.

  • SUPER!!!!!!!

  • This movement is a journey into your soul. This is absolute music absolutely. Close your eyes as this movement transports you into a mystical demension, a calm hypnotic state while time remains suspended. Bruckner's last three symphonies are the seal of a late bloomer well waiting for.

  • my favourite part: 8:38

  • This must be Heaven, as my beloved Grandmother smiles, laughs, sings, dances and no longer has pain nor sadness.

We will celebrate together again some day, this movement will accompany me as I journey towards you Gram.

I weep as I miss you, my beloved Grandmother.

  • I often wonder what people who cannot stand Bruckner's music would say if you just played the first 30 seconds of this clip to them.

  • I have no words... PERFECT...

  • The horns around the four minute mark are completely outstanding.

  • And Brahms didn`t like Bruckner`s symphonies. He was the Bruckner`s enemy in Vienna in that time.

  • That's not true. Yes Brahms was Bruckners enemy in that time in Vienna but in his diarys he conveys his respect to bruckner

  • Can you imagine being in that building, with Bruckner buried under the organ, listening to playing of such utter magnificence? The audience sit there like stuffed owls, I would be a sobbing, tear-drenched wreck. Glorious, indeed!

  • The Bruckner 4th Symphony was a revelation to me.

I cried when I heard the Schubert 8th Symphony.

The Bruckner 7th Symphony was incredible.

And now I'm discovering the 8th! It is so good, completely new to me.

And that church! WOW! THe video is fabulous. I've got to buy this? Where? What do I look for?

  • amazon

  • For me the passage from about 6.25 to 7.47 shows Bruckner, Karajan & the VPO at their very best.

  • 3:53 God Speaks.
