Lol a five seven or a glock! Both not a good choice. If you have the money five seven is ok because the gun and ammunition is expensive. glocks aren't that great. I would recommend a h&k p30 or a h&k usp 9mm. Those are nice handguns!

Im a 11 and i have my own .22 but when i get bigger and have a gun for target practice (i love pistols) or house protection i want to step it up a bit i personally like Glocks the most and that is what i want for first gun i want 9mm but which glock 19 or 17?

The first and the last gun you buy should fit your hand. For some reason most people don’t care. If it don’t fit then it is harder to use. Harder to hit what you need to under a panic attract that you will be going through.
Second get lessons and then practice every day 200 rounds. Dry firing if nothing else. Build your trigger finger strength. You should beable to balance a coin on the end of the barrel and dry fire the gun 100 times with dislodging the coin.
when I buy a semi-auto such as a Glock or a Springfield XD, do I have to strip all the factory lube off and re-lube it before I shoot it, or can I just shoot it right out of the box? Which is the best approach to caring for a new gun?
@jsriley3245 M4 is higher quality more customization less recoil aww wtf am I sayin M14 all the way it will get there from here with no questions and has more power than an AK not to mention it comes in a mini 14 in .223 but M4 would be second with reliability the only time the M4 has problems is user error or manufacture defect its locking bolt is better than AK and its strait back stock helps with recoil to stay on target plus it reloads faster and the AKs barrel moves 0.o so M4 or M14 ftw
@jsriley3245 Glock they dont jam simple as that very little rust after 6 months at the bottom of the ocean can be dropped from a chopper ran over by a ford bronco many times left in the snow buried for 2 years and clear the barrel it will fire and be fine every time Glock perfection
A 22 revolver like the one in this video is never a bad purchase. When out plinking and everyone has gone through the more expensive ammo, break out the 22 and a brick of ammo, much fun. Also a great hunter of small game, survival gun.
I heard a story about a guy who shot his brother in a domestic dispute with a .22 handgun. (This is from a police officer) Upon his arrival to the scene, the paramedics had told the officer that the bullet had entered through his belly button, and that there was no exit wound. The man had complained of a heavyness in his scrodem.
@optionsupdate The revolver probably because the barrel is fixed where most semi automatics have barrels that move around. Really though, it's splitting hairs because I've fired many semi automatics that are very accurate.
22's are the most deadly wepon so dont ever underestimate someone u can get shot in ur leg and have ur heart hit because a 22 bounces arround in u and hits ur arterys like really and 1 head shot ur dead u aint surviving other guns like a 9mm or 45 u have more of a chance surviving a head shot with those other then a 22 the 22 ur dead if it hits ur head
@stacks6969allday The 22LR is not the most deadly cartridge. They are defiantly deadly but statistically you are most likely to survive being shot by one than any other cartridge.
@whothaplaya not in the head if ur hit in the head by a 22 ur more likley gonna die nomatter what because it bounces all over were ever the bullet hits u would have a better chance to survive a 9mm shot to the head then a 22 in the head cause atleast the 9mm go straight through but 22 its bouncen everywere in ur brain and will then lodge into one of ur main vains
@stacks6969allday I'm starting to think you're speaking from experience, I think you were shot in the head but survived. Any shooter knows that the ".22 bounces around the skull" bullshit is impossible, the bullet would not have enough energy after passing thru one layer of bone and hitting the other to "bounce around dozens of time". Also, do you truly think that a 230 grain hollow point .45 ACP round would honestly have a lesser chance to incapacitate w/ a head shot than a .22? Come on man
@Pill88Dickle plenty of euro people have used, have exprienced guns before I can even name a few major incidents mainly WW1 and WW2, irish civil war, irish war of independence, spanish civil war, russian revoltion,
I think a handgun is the most ready to use and most effective form of defense even though I never used one but to see it in action in GTA 4 because that game depicts it accurately and its the most handiest and reliable gun in the world except for big war situations
@irelandcool1 As far as the handgun being the "most effective form of defense", well it is an effective form of defense. But every weapon is an effective form of defense, be it a .308 WIN, .223REM, .45ACP, 12 ga. Shotgun, Knife, or even a fire extinguisher. But all weapons have a specific area that the gun/weapon excels in. I mean, one would not try to take a target out at long distances (100+ yards) with a pistol. There are better weapons for this.
@SupremeAmerican , thanks, I've got my eyes on a browning 12gauge scrub-gun that used to be my dads but when the laws came in he gave it to his mate and he said I can have it as soon as my license comes through.
I'm looking for my first hand gun but a 22 is a bit to small, I work alot in the scrub and need something that's capable of taking down anything from a water buffalo, camel, scrubber bulls down to feral dogs and kangaroos
@lachlanthiesfield Yeah... i'd stick to shotgun with slugs for that. I dont think even a 44 mag is enough for a water buffalo. maybe a 454 but i wouldnt bet on it lol.
Actually, what a new shooter should do is get a semi-automatic 9mm, preferably something idiot proof that is affordable, reliable, accurate and well proven. That would be a Glock 19 or Glock 17, but also a Springfield XD or S&W M&P would work.
After that, you can buy a .22LR conversion kit for it, it's going to end up costing the same as if you bought that Ruger separately, but you get the benefit of now practicing with one gun in both 9mm and .22LR.
Great video mate! I am an Australian who has never even fired a gun before. But I am in the process of joining a gun club for sport shooting. I have zero experience with guns and videos like this have been a great help. I'm still a long way off buying one, but it's good to know what I should be looking for when the time comes. Thanks again.
It is one thing only ,shot placement. The SPEC-OPs used .22 for close quaters eliminations. You are launching a projectile at a volacity far greater than anything a person could do yet slingshots were used very effectively for centuries as a first step towards the firearm.
@vinegaroon1 If I was robbing a home and I heard gunshots and felt pain, I wouldn't know the caliber and wouldn't care. Instinct is to get the heck out of there.
@alexcowart woman near me woke up to find a big home invader in her bedroom. she had a small .25 caliber. he grabbed her and she shot him four times in the chest during the struggle, but didn't faze him. she said his grip on her never even relaxed. she said he finally began bleeding so much that he relaxed his grip. you're you, but this man was more typical of home invaders.
Home robbers prefer to hit an empty house, if someone is home that is usually deterrent enough. If that person has a gun (of any caliber) I would think that is more than enough of a deterrent.
If someone breaks in with intent to rob (not rape or murder), a .22 would be more than sufficient I think.
@MrPitseleh Yes. Neighbors heard the pop-popping and her screams, and called the cops. Turned out someone who had done gardening for her and knew her situation (older lady living alone, etc.) tipped off the thug, who felt she'd be a pushover and came one night high on something and looking for dope money. He still had her in a bear hug when the cops showed up and her gun was empty, but he didn't last long after that.
I would recommended the CZ-75 9mm pistol. Simply because CZ has a .22LR conversion kit for it (CZ-75 Kadet Conversion Kit) and it only takes 5mins to convert it to and from .22LR. This way you have two handguns in one. To add to the Revolvers being a good choice. If you like to reload your ammo shell casings, a revolver doesn't spit them out all over the place making you have to look for them after wards. Simply open the cylinder and dump the shell cases into a bucket.
For the vast number of people gasping in disbelief that this man so highly recommends a .22 as a first handgun, you should pay closer attention. He never advises the .22 as a defensive weapon, only as a range gun. Truth is, a gun is only as effective as the person shooting it, and the ONLY way to get good, is practice... lots and lots of it. and just like everything else, practice happens on a budget.
what's the idea behind talking bad about a .22? i sure as hell know that i wouldn't want someone pointing a ruger .22 at me. and if someone thinks they can walk all over someone who is armed with a semi auto .22 then they must have brain damage. sure, there are much stronger calibers but damn, a firearm is a firearm...
@The615LOVE yea the reson why they do is 1 they are jelous 2. the compard the 22.cal bullets to stuff a a 30-06next thing you know they start (TRYING) to play airsoft gun fight with them like to see that
For me, a stocky revolver like a .45 is the best choice, because I've never owned a gun and I want something easy and reliable that can kill and destroy fast!
I did a lot of research and it came down to 3 guns. all in 9mm
Springfield XD
Sig P250
Glock 17
I went with the SIG and it's been a great gun for several months now. Put 400 rounds through it with only 1 fail to feed (was a reload and it had 2 bends in it after I looked) It is also VERY accurate. I can already get 8/10 in the black at 25 yards. and it is REAL easy to take apart and clean. I like the look of 1911's but they are not beginner guns.
I agree on a 22 if you are a brand new beginner. But most men should shoot a 9mm with little recoil. For kids yes 22s. My first time shooting was at boot camp with the 9mm and shotgun. The 12 gauge now that's recoil. Does anybody know what load they use in the navy I assume buckshot. But what size...Brand? Thanks.
@gumby1008 Derringers are SO Useless...1 shot? what if there are two attackers?..and ALMOST no one was stoped from a SINGLE shot (thinking ppl on pcp..coke) unless it was a head shot.
@xeanth still doesnt stop derringers from being cool, also i live in aus where people dont shoot each other, therefore just the appearance of a gun is enough. also there are some 4 barrel ones
I have yet to find a volunteer to stand in front of the muzzle of my .22 handgun.
Handguns are the toughest firearms to shoot. Most first time shooters shooting a handgun with any kind of recoil put the first round relatively on target. After that they start shooting low because they start anticipating recoil. If you eliminate recoil as a factor you can develop proper trigger control and sight alignment before moving on to a larger caliber handgun.
You shouldn't use earplugs alone when shooting firearms, the sound can actually penetrate through the skull bone around the ear and damage your hearing.
Yeah, in war pistols/revolvers/handguns are pretty useless, but they are the basic weapons. If you run out of ammo with riffles and shotguns, you will always have your pistol with you.... and pistols for self-defense are perfect.
I started out with a .22 pistol that a friend owns and I got a 1911 that was handed down from my family. The way to practice shooting pistols is to shoot a .22 first to know what you need to fix because there is no recoil. Then you can go to a big gun like my .45, which youll be much better at. Of course you can skip the .22 recommendation and buy a "Dirty Harry" revolver which is bad ass, dont get me wrong, but you won't be as accurate as you could be.
@FrikkenVV They are great for the gun-shy new shooters who have had there heads filld with crap form anti-guners and hollywood. almost no recoil, and so easy to manage that a 3 yo girl can handle it.
They're easier to shoot, have a larger magazine and have cheaper ammunition?
They're pretty much the perfect weapon choice for target practice, they're a great entry level firearm to get people used to concepts like gun safety, posture, target acquisition, etc.
As a side note, a single shot from a 22 can be just as lethal as a larger caliber bullet if the shot is well placed. I wouldn't say a 22 is a good self defense gun, but they're no pellet gun...
@FrikkenVV Barring law enforcement (which is responsible for a very small percentage of shootings/deaths anyway) more people will be killed in the next 10 years with .22LR ammunition than any other. .22JHP is devastating to the human body. I know a lot of people like the feel of a .45, and they think the extra numbers are going to save them. In reality, smaller ammunition is just as effective when used correctly, and the affordability of the .22 makes it easy to practice with.
Records of actual shootings show that using the CCI Stinger 22lr round, there is a 34% chance of stopping a opponent with the first shot. Not the best performance for self-defense purposes, but enough to prove that the 22lr has plenty of ability to kill a man.
Of course, if you live in a cold place, you arent even going to penetrate the bad guy's sweatshirt. Never get anything smaller than a .45 or if you're shooting revolvers, a .357.
I would recommend that you not waste your money on a 22 cal pistol. I would suggest that you take a quality handgun training course and, if you are looking for a defensive weapon, I would recommend that you purchase a double action only semi-automatic. I've got a couple of 9mm weapons, Glock and Springfield, but I also have a couple of 40cal weapons. The 9mm is nice, but the 40 gives you much better knock down power and the recoil is only slightly more than the 9mm.
i started with a beretta 92fs. its awsome. i only shot one other, a Colt Python, .357 magnum. its has to much recoil for me. only thing about the beretta is it jams alot.
I disagree a 38 snub is fine for woman, nothing a little training and range time can't solve.
Than he recommends a semi auto 9mm for woman? Since he says get a 22 to 1st practice, I don't know why he puts down 38 special/snub nose. He goes on to praise how simple and reliable a revolver is, than recommends a semi auto?
There are nice sub compact semi-auto 38ACP's out there. 9mm ammo is cheaper. Try different guns. Take a safety class which is needed for a CCW anyway in most states.
i bought a .40 for first handgun. It was a glock 23 and I sold it because I couldnt hit anything with it. I bought another glock 23 later and It shoots perfectly. I think sometimes they screw up the fixed sites but when you find a good one, its a good one.
Lol a five seven or a glock! Both not a good choice. If you have the money five seven is ok because the gun and ammunition is expensive. glocks aren't that great. I would recommend a h&k p30 or a h&k usp 9mm. Those are nice handguns!

For me, a stocky revolver like a .45 is the best choice, because I've never owned a gun and I want something easy and reliable that can kill and destroy fast!
CleverDjembe 1 year ago
I did a lot of research and it came down to 3 guns. all in 9mm
Springfield XD
Sig P250
Glock 17
I went with the SIG and it's been a great gun for several months now. Put 400 rounds through it with only 1 fail to feed (was a reload and it had 2 bends in it after I looked) It is also VERY accurate. I can already get 8/10 in the black at 25 yards. and it is REAL easy to take apart and clean. I like the look of 1911's but they are not beginner guns.
Brantoc 1 year ago
Yeah in the navy we wore earplugs AND ear muffs which made it hard as jell to listen to instructions(they had to yell)
Caretika 2 years ago
I agree on a 22 if you are a brand new beginner. But most men should shoot a 9mm with little recoil. For kids yes 22s. My first time shooting was at boot camp with the 9mm and shotgun. The 12 gauge now that's recoil. Does anybody know what load they use in the navy I assume buckshot. But what size...Brand? Thanks.
Caretika 2 years ago
I carry a derringer. Thats not a revolver or a automatic
GlaBurnzUrHouseAK47 2 years ago
@GlaBurnzUrHouseAK47 derringers are SO COOL
gumby1008 2 years ago
@gumby1008 Derringers are SO Useless...1 shot? what if there are two attackers?..and ALMOST no one was stoped from a SINGLE shot (thinking ppl on pcp..coke) unless it was a head shot.
xeanth 1 year ago
@xeanth still doesnt stop derringers from being cool, also i live in aus where people dont shoot each other, therefore just the appearance of a gun is enough. also there are some 4 barrel ones
gumby1008 1 year ago
@ninja6kid

Kimber Pro Carry II in .45 <- Best gun ever
armypenguin 2 years ago 3
Well, see it as general advice, I see videos here where people shoot .40 S&W and .45 ACP with ported barrels and muzzle breaks with only earplugs.
Tjita1 2 years ago
You shouldn't use earplugs alone when shooting firearms, the sound can actually penetrate through the skull bone around the ear and damage your hearing.

i guess for me a .44 magnum

Lugers are realy cool pistols.
And whats wrong with a WW2 submachinegun? It's realy reliable.
MiracleKD18 2 years ago
If you ask me, the .45 ACP and 9x19mm Parabellum cartridges are the best.
The Colt 45, Luger P08 and MP40 (I know, its an SMG and not a handgun) are the weapons of choice for me.

my first handgun is i dont like handguns. i prefer rifles and shotguns
lifes40123 2 years ago
But it's mighty hard to conceal a rifle.
HeadTater 2 years ago
@lifes40123
Yeah, in war pistols/revolvers/handguns are pretty useless, but they are the basic weapons. If you run out of ammo with riffles and shotguns, you will always have your pistol with you.... and pistols for self-defense are perfect.
I prefer SMGs and machine guns anyway.
MiracleKD18 2 years ago
spanks alot i needed this, but honestly i think i'll start with the 9mm semi, but i will try the guns out

christlubas 2 years ago
I started out with a .22 pistol that a friend owns and I got a 1911 that was handed down from my family. The way to practice shooting pistols is to shoot a .22 first to know what you need to fix because there is no recoil. Then you can go to a big gun like my .45, which youll be much better at. Of course you can skip the .22 recommendation and buy a "Dirty Harry" revolver which is bad ass, dont get me wrong, but you won't be as accurate as you could be.
KillaCamRon405 2 years ago
.22 is so fucking tiny

I don't recomend starting on a .22 because you will under estimate power of guns I say a 9mm or .38 special.

Simple, easy target shooting. Also, its not loud at all, so you dont need ear protection.
LotusDragon09 2 years ago
@FrikkenVV They are great for the gun-shy new shooters who have had there heads filld with crap form anti-guners and hollywood. almost no recoil, and so easy to manage that a 3 yo girl can handle it.

@FrikkenVV cause there fun
kawasakiman46 1 year ago
@FrikkenVV .22 might be small, but they're devestating if you get shot in the head. They go in and bounce around.

@FrikkenVV i heard .22 will bounce around in the skull...
YipeePabloProduxions 1 year ago
@FrikkenVV as he said, no recoil so, good for a woman for example...
supertenor 1 year ago
@supertenor Women may have smaller muscles than men, but that doesn't justify the use of a .22 as a primary self defense weapon.
stealthbeast 1 year ago
@FrikkenVV
Kirzen 1 year ago
@FrikkenVV low recoil??

pete5668 1 year ago
@FrikkenVV Barring law enforcement (which is responsible for a very small percentage of shootings/deaths anyway) more people will be killed in the next 10 years with .22LR ammunition than any other. .22JHP is devastating to the human body. I know a lot of people like the feel of a .45, and they think the extra numbers are going to save them. In reality, smaller ammunition is just as effective when used correctly, and the affordability of the .22 makes it easy to practice with.

It bounces around your body and messes everything up in its way.

9mm is not recommended for home defense...if you want to shoot em and keep em down you gotta go with a .45.

demosthenets 2 years ago 2
I was taught three simple rules:
1. A hit with a 22 is worth two misses with a 44.
2. If you can't stop' em with your first five rounds, another nine won't matter much.
3. Revolvers never, ever jam!
Sooner or later, ALL 1911's, ACP's and Semi Auto's Jam. Once; during an emergency, I had not one but two autos jam on me... Never again!
Remember, 357's never, ever jam,

Having a 22 around is a very good idea, for those of us who are concerned about ammo prices!
armsvault 2 years ago
Records of actual shootings show that using the CCI Stinger 22lr round, there is a 34% chance of stopping a opponent with the first shot. Not the best performance for self-defense purposes, but enough to prove that the 22lr has plenty of ability to kill a man.
SilientShadow 2 years ago
Of course, if you live in a cold place, you arent even going to penetrate the bad guy's sweatshirt. Never get anything smaller than a .45 or if you're shooting revolvers, a .357.
AnnaNicolesDeathbed 2 years ago
It's hard to go wrong with a 22. Cheap ammo, little recoil, and really fun to target shoot. I know it's off topic, but 22. rifles are cool too.
fetalalien1369 2 years ago
Get a .22 LR to practice with every week, and also buy a .45 ACP loaded with segmented hollow points in the nightstand.

XBOXDECENTRECRUIT 2 years ago

I think sometimes they screw up the fixed sites but when you find a good one, its a good one.

blackrifle556 2 years ago 2
why do you cringe? is it taboo to do that or something? or is it just the sound??

Because dry firing alot damages the firing pin. However, he is only doing it a few times so it doesn't really matter.
