Very Good job! Please tell me where you learned the song! Any advice would be a big help! Ive been looking everywhere and found nothing, Please reply! Thanks!
Fine picking mate. With no disrespect to Ian who clearly devotes a lot of effort to JM stuff, you have the right hand technique nailed better than anyone i've seen. Cheers for posting the videos, always worth watching.
Brilliant picking - (and great to see youve been let back into the community from the secure John Martyn Nuttas hospital wing :-) ) And- many thanks for a great view of the fretting- this is the best one around for that. Total coincidence- I just worked this out after -oh- about 37 years- but I will also be examining one or two bits you're doing here, cos' you nailed this. You *def* got the 'JM right hand' too..needed here don't you reckon. Back with a vengeance -very very nice. -Ian
@ianmcgeachy hi m8 soz i aint been more active, not had much spare time for guitar. had child no.3 recently so even less time (and less hair..lol). managed to get kids off the comp long enough to make this vid tho, will try and post a better version when i get time. been watchin ur stuff tho m8, very nice indeed. how do u record ur audio? i'm usin a guitar hero usb mic but its very harsh and doesn't seem to pick up all the tones especially on the rolls when the guitar gets busy.
@johni2bad I use a Tascam recorder, & a *condensor* mic..also use the 'pod' (non amplified) output from the guitar amp if I use pickup signal (eg delay stuff)..my voice 'isnt exactly' JM-& can be shit, but with the mic: a) Its 'warm' shit b) It picks up good guitar tones. Cheaper Chinese mic- but ok. Def get a condensor mic -needs phantom power too. I record straight into recorder- less messier than computer-'live', (not track by track). Your guitar would def *sound great* with good mic.-Ian
@johni2bad PS: you can now get condensor mics with USB, so can go straight into computer, I think, so dont have to get a recording unit (tho' they've come down alot in price-say a little 4 track)
If going to record 'guitar only', then can use 'pencil' condensor mics-look on ebay first-I just got 2 Samson mics like that (came as a pair). Congrats on 3rd child by the way, aye- time- my hair now thinning well too. (old geezer, see)- Ian
@johni2bad Nice name. Had a mate who obsessed about Ms Harris (from afar!)..always been quite 'appealing' and a great singer too. Sound stuff- what I picked up thats all- but condensor mics I got put onto by another utuber (electricragtime-Kev)..big difference to me. Saw one today in a general electonics shop (bit like Dixons in UK)- it was only $45 Oz!! (But be careful-'music ones' are ok- the one today I saw had low freq of 80Hz- not okay for picking up low tunings-but ok for regular)
