Vlingo 2011: The Future of the Virtual Assistant

Just been using all the various "SIRI" alternative on Android over the last couple of weeks. I've found this is by far the best one - it's way better even than Google's built-in voice control system

If you go into Settings>InCar Settings>Customize Main Prompt on your Android phone you can have Vlingo speak back to you anything you want.

@VlingoVoice Also add some Android phones like the HTC Desire have a default to google already set so when Vlingo is installed you must select Vlingo to be your new voice recognition device then simply add your name or what ever message you wish, I enjoy this software

@AlmightyKush666 We sure can. On BlackBerry and Android. Unfortunately, limitations within iOS do not allow us to read messages aloud on iPhone like we can on other platforms.

Can you do a video on vlingo on the blackberry 9900 (thats what i have). I had this app about a month ago and it totally crashed my Berry. I really want the features that it promises and am willing to give it another try. It would be nice if it worked like it does on the androids.

I just downloaded this in plus version on my blackberry, and it's cool, but I'd like it to response to me. the only way it responds to me it when I get a new email or text. and that's it. it would be cool if after it read it, it'd ask me to respond to the new message or whatever. I don't want be be pressing the button all the time for every movement. also, I don't have the option to text to speech playback to put it on Full so it can really be used.

It`s all getting creepy. I thought this kinda thing was just Star Trek but I reckon give it 5 years and we`ll all be talking to our phones, maybe even other stuff like TVs.

I`ve being using a voice program on my android and it really makes life quicker and easier. Again, creepy.

@MotorStorM93 Thanks for the question. Yes, it is similar to SIRI. We are available today across iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Nokia phones. On the iPhone, our Virtual Assistant works with both the old 3GS and 4 models (not just the 4S like SIRI).

Can you change vlingo virtual assistant to your default voice talk app. like when you double click the homescreen button because now mine is voice talk powered by vlingo which does nothing like this, only the basic commands? Samsung Galaxy s2

@VapidFlame9 Thanks for the comment. Wanted to quickly clarify - We're just showing that Vlingo can handle multi-modal input (voice or type). In practice we're working to make both possible in all use cases. So if you find typing to be a pain, you won't have to. But sometimes it isn't convenient to speak (on a noisy bus, for example), so we want our customer to have options!
