  • this movie is ahead of its time

  • Seeing clips like this makes me want to see this movie even more, but I can't find the darn thing anywhere!

  • @obelisk789 if you have a netflix account you can watch it instantly on your laptop

  • @obelisk789 netflix it is a watch now

  • Spell Zeppelin right dude, its on the tv 12 seconds into the video.

  • fuckin piece of art

  • This film has become an obsession of mine. I watched it about a month ago, and i still can't get it out of my head. So many ideas. So many beautiful scenes. Such great music. Such bizarre casting that works!

Bai Ling prancing around is epic.

  • Gah! I'm sure that a continuous shot of a party like that must have been an epic nightmare to make!

  • I love how both DD and ST deal with the exact same time travel rules, except with the Artifact being a person and not a plane engine.

  • Exactly! Speaking of parallels between the two movies I loved how Sean William Scott's character got shot in the eye just like Frank

  • this movie was great but i felt cheated when i saw the movie the box and it was free.

  • The Box is o.k. Southland is Kelly's masterpiece.

  • I will have ta agree with Frank on this one lol love this movie

  • fr600 i said the exact same to my friend the other day!! good call!!

  • the only film i've ever found bai ling attractive. even if its a creepy atraction

  • This is just like the Head Over Heels scene from Donnie Darko. It starts with Boxor Santaros and then the camera starts going around everywhere.

  • that's exactly what i've just realized about it!

someway it remembers donnie darko ending too, gemini movies, i love 'em both.

  • I did not get this movie at all.

  • me too :(

  • you don't get it? the movie is about the end of the world. peroid. it doesn't end with a wimper but with a bang! all because humans tried to play god. but we are not gods.

  • Big stars all across in a movie that barely grossed 300k. Still an amazing movie if you actually sit back with it. Though the first 3 chapters help a lil bit with the understanding.

  • @longhunter84 No idea why it was given such a limited release....could have made so much more

  • i friggan love this song...its very chill i bet the album is good. the whole soundtrack was awsome...the pixies hd a good track on their and we wont even get started on the killers (i know my roomie got sick of me blasten it) good soundtrack great movie!!!

  • I really think I'm going to like this movie, haven't seen it yet. I adored Donnie Darko.

Altough I have to say that I was a little shocked to see The Rock playing the main character... Hope he can deliver the goods.

  • I was suprised by all the performaces from everyone. Richard Kelly knew what he was doing.

  • that's fuckin right.

  • Wow, certain people (who shall remain nameless) are actually going round trashing Richard Kelly on all the southland tales youtube clips......how about letting people think critically and make up their own mind instead of feeding them an opinion, after all personal freedom was a fairly prevalant theme in the movie.

  • The song is "Howl" by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (or BRMC). The extended version is on the Southland Tales soundtrack, but I highly recommend buying BRMC's album called Howl instead, one of my all-time favourites, and the Howl Sessions EP. Some really moving songs on there. The other albums are great, too, but more shoegaze

  • the movie was great

but i still have yet to understand it better

btw:wats the name of this song?

i really like the music on here

  • AHH THIS FILMS PAINFULLY BRILLIANT!

  • for whatever reason this is one of the best scenes in the movie.i have know film making knowledge but i knew when i saw it that they did a great job shooting the whole movie! what is a tracking shot? just when they follow people?

  • I like the comments on here...especially the "steering wheel" comparison. Good stuff.

This movie is misunderstood, and it is going to fuel discussion for years to come. I think it's a masterpiece. 2007 was such an awesome year for film.

  • lmao

  • Holy Taco, the mother of all tracking shots!!!

  • Sure, but you can feel the adrenaline running inside your veins, because you know it's so much to take... just to let you know, life has no steering wheel, and the crash it's what makes it even better, i can relate with the way RK thinks, but i'm not capable of creating such great stories cause i'm crap, RK is not.

BTW it's a good thing not a lot of people understand this movie.

  • Richard Kelly as a filmmaker is like a high performance car with no steering wheel.

Loads of ideas, original voice, very intelligent...and no idea whatsoever of what to do with it or how to use it to make a good movie.

It's so hard to watch him flounder around like this and make incomprehensible, unfocused crap. Just like watching the race car fly around a track with no steering or control, knowing there's nothing you can do and just waiting for it to crash and end it's run permanently.

  • Has got to be one of the best tracking shots since Henry Hill at the Copacabana in Goodfellas

  • Wallace Shaun in a cape. Who could ask for anything more?

  • That's me with the brunette up-do and green dress that they pass when they get out of the elevator. =)

  • you hot if it is u lol

  • as confusing and insane as this movie might be. it's still beautiful to watch.

  • I LOVED this movie. And the music, especially from this scene, was phenominal!!!!!!!!

  • great tracking shot...very nice work by the actors with their queue's as the steadycam tracks along this dreamy/twisted heaven of freaks/celebrities.

This film is different...kudos to richard kelly.

its not that great, but its very different and that I like.

  • Reminds me of the hallway scene in Donnie Darko. Very well done shot.

    Thank you for posting.

  • i loved this movie and this song!!
