  • Good memories of childhood -and- of the day my Japanese professor turned this on for a college class. <3 Big Bird -and- Hatakeyama-sensei.

  • I remembered all the lyrics! I sang along and my husband was looking at me like I was a crazy person LOL I'm 25, btw.

  • I rememeber this! I actually have the VHS somewhere! Big Bird trying to eat plastic food...

  • Wow, the actress who plays the bamboo princess appeared on an episode of NCIS once as an extra.

  • This is why I love YouTube. I saw this once as a kid and the lyric "Ohio means good morning, that's my favorite one" stuck with me ever since. That's at least 20 years, until just now I thought to see if I could find the song on YouTube.

  • dozo (sp) is only used when you are offering a gift isnt it? more like "please accept this?"

please should be onegai or onegaishimasu?

  • No and yes.

The paradigm is slightly different but in general `dozo` is the same as`here you go\take this`. `Onegai/Onegai shimasu` is closer to `please give(do for) me`.

Depending on the situation `dozo` could be the equivalent of `please` as in `please take this = dozo, tote kudasai` or if a subordinate offers to do a favor/task for you you might respond `dozo`, (the hidden implication being your giving your inferior the honor of doing said task.)

  • Thank you for clearing that up! I was wondering about that too.

  • i love it!!
