  • Very informative thx

  • I got a pasta machine for 30$ At Pat Catans. If you have that art store near you check it out. It is way more inexpensive than Micheals or Joannes

  • I was reading through your comments and seen the one person talking about the high price of a pasta press. I get this offten with my tutorials as well. I dont get it most of the time the price is not truely high and the investment is well worth the time you save. My dremel alone costs way more than a pasta press ,but i have had the same one for 10 years. I can't imagine doing all it does by hand sheesh.

  • I love this. There is no end to what you can make into a texture sheet! Thx so much for sharing this technique!!

  • Is this mold putty food grade? I want to use it to make chocolate texture mats.

  • @cakeillusions2010 Yes, Amazing Mold Putty is food grade. You can find more information about that on the Alumilite website. Keep in mind nothing is considered food-safe after it's been used with polymer clay, though.

  • really informative,thanks

  • Tip:

Some people showed concerns about the "Conditioning Machine" or Pasta machine", from my experience on doing the same with foundant for cake decorations, you can use a simple rolling pin. No need to expend money to simply roll such a soft consistency dough.

  • Thanks for the comment, FiatLux1000. Many people do use cheaper options for rolling out polymer clay: a glass jar or an acrylic roller, for example. Clay tends to stick to the wood on a wooden rolling pin, so that's a consideration. And you definitely shouldn't use a rolling pin for polymer clay that you plan on using for food again. For the project shown where clay is pressed into the extruded lines in the mold, a pasta machine works best since its pressure forces clay into the impressions.

  • @craftygoat If the Amazing Mold Putty is food grade I don't see any problem with using the same rolling pin you use on your food.

  • @Frozenboy212 The Amazing Mold Putty is food grade. Polymer clay is not. For this project I'm having people use their pasta machine not only to roll out the Amazing Mold Putty, but also to force the polymer clay into the mold's impressions. As I've already mentioned, the rolling pin is an inferior option... but any tool you use with polymer clay should no longer be used with food.

  • why is someone going and putting negatives on all the comments and questions?? Geez chill out only one person said something bad.

    An informative video ty

  • That didn't turn out very good at all! Oh well...

  • thats so cool!

  • How expensive are pasta machines?

  • I just did a review a few days ago on my blog of the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine, which is about $25. There's a wide range of prices. Try doing a Google search for "pasta machine" or "clay conditioning machine."

  • you can go to royal free clip art, enlarge the pattern and save it i use it alot

  • awesom video, where can i find royalty free pattern

  • Look for clip-art books published by Dover Publications. There are all sorts of royalty-free patterns in their books.

  • that is a great wasy to make a mold. Much simpler and easier then using rubber :D

  • awesome!can't wait to try this myself!!!

  • I've just started having fun with polymer clay and this is a great video. I love new ideas! Thanks!

  • wow best crafting video ive seen

  • Great video. Where did you get your clay extruder? I have not seen one like that.

    Carter

  • It's the Makin's Ultimate Clay Extruder, and I know it's available at Hobby Lobby & Michael's. I'm sure there are various online sources, too. It's a wonderful tool (easy to use AND easy to clean) -- so much better than the old style clay gun!

  • Thank you answering my question.

  • where can I find the putty and how do you call it? Great teacher!

  • It is called Amazing Mold Putty, and you can find it in most major craft stores. It costs about $20 for the size I show in the video. You can also buy it online at various places. I even sell sampler sizes in my online store. My blog has lots more information about Amazing Mold Putty -- just follow the link under this video's "More Info" description.

  • This is a great vid. Can I post it at pcp?
