I was reading through your comments and seen the one person talking about the high price of a pasta press. I get this offten with my tutorials as well. I dont get it most of the time the price is not truely high and the investment is well worth the time you save. My dremel alone costs way more than a pasta press ,but i have had the same one for 10 years. I can't imagine doing all it does by hand sheesh.
@cakeillusions2010 Yes, Amazing Mold Putty is food grade. You can find more information about that on the Alumilite website. Keep in mind nothing is considered food-safe after it's been used with polymer clay, though.
Some people showed concerns about the "Conditioning Machine" or Pasta machine", from my experience on doing the same with foundant for cake decorations, you can use a simple rolling pin. No need to expend money to simply roll such a soft consistency dough.
Thanks for the comment, FiatLux1000. Many people do use cheaper options for rolling out polymer clay: a glass jar or an acrylic roller, for example. Clay tends to stick to the wood on a wooden rolling pin, so that's a consideration. And you definitely shouldn't use a rolling pin for polymer clay that you plan on using for food again. For the project shown where clay is pressed into the extruded lines in the mold, a pasta machine works best since its pressure forces clay into the impressions.
@Frozenboy212 The Amazing Mold Putty is food grade. Polymer clay is not. For this project I'm having people use their pasta machine not only to roll out the Amazing Mold Putty, but also to force the polymer clay into the mold's impressions. As I've already mentioned, the rolling pin is an inferior option... but any tool you use with polymer clay should no longer be used with food.
I just did a review a few days ago on my blog of the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine, which is about $25. There's a wide range of prices. Try doing a Google search for "pasta machine" or "clay conditioning machine."
It's the Makin's Ultimate Clay Extruder, and I know it's available at Hobby Lobby & Michael's. I'm sure there are various online sources, too. It's a wonderful tool (easy to use AND easy to clean) -- so much better than the old style clay gun!
It is called Amazing Mold Putty, and you can find it in most major craft stores. It costs about $20 for the size I show in the video. You can also buy it online at various places. I even sell sampler sizes in my online store. My blog has lots more information about Amazing Mold Putty -- just follow the link under this video's "More Info" description.
Very informative thx

I got a pasta machine for 30$ At Pat Catans. If you have that art store near you check it out. It is way more inexpensive than Micheals or Joannes

@craftygoat If the Amazing Mold Putty is food grade I don't see any problem with using the same rolling pin you use on your food.
