The double langes messer fighter was good, don't get me wrong, but i have a feeling he was the elite compared to the other two which factored alot into the epicness involved lol
@Orowam They're letting him 'live' on purpose of-course. In a real all out fight you'd just close as soon as his back is turned and that be the end of it. Training like that work to build reflexes and confidence, not to simulate how it actually turn out if everybody tried to murder each other.
If you try fighting a friend with a couple sticks you're going to get some bruises because you try to control your weapon with sheer strength alone. All three of the guys in here however know what their doing, they know where their blade is going to go, and they've practiced their forms enough to know how to block. Even with that in mind, you can tell throughout the video where they stop and slow their moves down TO MAKE PERFECTLY SURE they don't injure each other.
i got an aluminium Langes Messer myself. Its great and it even didnt rusting! Well the Crossguard and the Pummel if you let it to long in wet weed...or else
the pair could have done alot better. First off the guy with the shield and swords should have been up in his face so then the guy with the katana could stab his back easily. But the katana guy kept moving too close and the guy with the shield was really passive. This fight could have ended alot quicker for the pair if they knew how to work together. I dont mean to rag on this video its good but the teamwork here wasn't good
Is it just me or is the guy with the katana overextending himself a lot? he keeps on trying to poke with it and his right hand leaves the grip a lot. seems like a easy disarm in one on one fighting.
@zukuru even with loads of training you can miss and mess up and than some one gets A SWORD IN THE CHEST even real solder at their time used wood swords so if they messed up they would be fine and wouldn't kill the guy their fighting with
@dragon2060 : It really depends on the era and location as to whether soldiers were trained with wood. Wood can never replace to feel of a steel weapon.
@dragon2060 Not like they put any power into these blows, as far as sparring goes I'd not be surprised if people in the old days even sparred with sharp weapons. If you read about early knight tournaments you know just how insane the violent nobles of Europe really were. People just agreed where to meet and played a game of 'kidnap anyone you can beat into submission' holding each other for ransom unless they got killed in the process. A Tournament were like a agreed upon mini-war.
@dragon2060 back in the day they used wooden swords just like the american military used wooden guns because all the real swords and guns are being used to fight the war.
@Halofreakanoid let me swing a blunt sword at you and see what happens and the tips are still sharp and shit happens you dont need to be an ass hole i was just asking
@dragon2060: I do it all the time. It's called Historical European Martial Arts. I wasn't being an asshole, I was telling you what they are called. Also the tips are rounded.
The guy duel-wielding, are you ambidextrous? Just curious how difficult it would be to train up if a person is either right/left handed. If you are not naturally ambidextrous, how long did it take up to train to be able to duel-wield comfortably?
And where are the good old messer-specific techniques? They have apparently fallen victim to the coolness factor of dual wield, haven't they? :sarcasm:
I agree with earlier comment. Nice to watch, but main error is the defender is mostly running through the middle. He needs to attack one without leaving his back to the other, in reality the second guy would simply lunge and stab. Also he could do with being more patient. Just observations
nice... but the single person opened himself up a lot, would've been better if he made them get in each others way rather than going between them so much.

i like this kind of training, its much more "finishing moves" oriented, not just sword-tapping

@Halofreakanoid true that like spartan training was brutal as shit so i bet they used the real deal in weapons lol
dragon2060 1 month ago
@dragon2060 : Steel training swords were also used in medieval europe in many occasions.
Really most Greek training was rigorous because they were standing armies.

I'm not familiar with german...What is a langes messer? Some kind of katzbalger or something?
Delroxorz 2 years ago
@Delroxorz
Langes Messer literally means long knife.
It was a single-edged sword with a curved blade.
Meant for cutting.

very impressive really if anybody tried taking on any of these three guys i think it would be a challenge
jbzism 2 years ago
Honestly i cant see anyone of the three is using a typical tatctic for each weapon, looks more like a Brawl in highschool....
The double sword guy is allways open on his back and the Katana guy dont know how to handle a katana...the buckler&Sword guy is just ridicullous......

It's also good tactics on the pair's part. They're coordinating their attacks from both directions.
CountArtha 2 years ago
possibly, but I do not see any footwork that shows the defender attempting to do otherwise.
kjax2008 2 years ago
Well, maybe if the gym were a bit larger he'd have a better time of it. It's hard to keep them on one side of you when there's nowhere to run.
Or he might just think it's cooler to run down the middle and take them two at a time. lol
