I had a similiar experience once, as I collected some train guides ("Zugbegleiter") at an Intercity train ending at Berlin. They usually stop for a while at the terminal, but in my case the train immediately left for the train depot at Rummelsburg some 5 km outside. So I had to climb down, look for a safe walk by the depot site and go back with S-Bahn
I heard that at the last station, the intercom DID state in plain English that the train will not haul passengers past the last station. You rode the train to an unauthorized section of the line that was not open to the public.
@benobve Yes, and it could have been a mishap on the system. It should have annouced it before the doors closed. Now with me as a transit ambassador, when I spot something not right, l look for the car number and the run number it's on. That way it's easier for the maintenance guys to track it. Next time if that happens again, get down the car number you were in, and get the run number once you do get off at. The run number should be located by the windshield wipers and report the train.
The same thing happened to me in Stockholm! The intercom said something in Swedish which I couldn't understand and a few people leapt out of the train. Those trains do have drivers but you can't walk between coaches. Eventually the driver walked through our coach on the way to the other end of the train in order to reverse it!

Where I am, a fw years ago, I acidently boarded a Train that Terminated at Government center thinking it was going to Bowdoin, only to realize once the doors didn't open at Bowdoin station that it was out of service, and I went through the turning Loop. I got lucky at that time when I boarded that I wasn't told to get off. normally on the MBTA when people don't get off at the last stop, the driver makes an additional anouncement to leave the train.
Line 14 is so cool, I stood at the front window and felt like I was driving. I was wondering what happens if you dont get off that automatic train. Now I know. :) Did you get fined?
at the last stop the train dosn't give you long to get off. I think people accidently go past the last stop quite often.
This video is of Saint-Lazare. I also went beyond the last stop at the other end at olympiades. but that time I wasn't filming and the train just went back as usual, rather than going all the way to the end of the tunnel.
@benobve Since this was an automatic metro, I don't know if there is any way of preventing someone from staying on the train after the last stop. On the MBTA in Boston, the drivers make an effort to make sure everyone is off the Train when it goes out of service. I mean since Line 14 of the Paris metro is driverless, how do they make sure everyone is off the train before it goes out of service? you could have been trapped if you didn't do something.

nobody checks to see if there is anyone still on the train before it goes out of service - I don't know how they get away with this.
benobve 2 years ago
@benobve They should add motion detectors in the trains to see if there is someone inside...
