  • A Voice of an Angel! Love this song and the way he sings it..

  • Whether it is Kirk, Mack, Ernie or my personal favorite Danny, there is no doubt that the Cathedrals have been blessed with some of the greatest tenor voices in the history of Southern Gospel music. Voices like these along with Larnelle and David Phelps show the glory of God every day and that is what is truly important. These men are using their gift to gorify the wonderful Creator and Sustainer of life.

  • Kirk what a singer

  • I love this song!

  • Wow! Awesome tenor!

  • Man that Kirk Talley still has a magnificent and thrilling voice. Keep up the good work Kirk!!!

  • @rcayers3yahoo Matt 7:2-5 "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged [if we judge with an evil heart or dark intent, His judgment of us will reflect it; if we judge nobly with honesty and justice, His judgment of us will reflect that, too], and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you"

He overcame his bout with homosexual tendencies, and its been well documented. My point is basically enjoy the music and shut up.

  • I love this song.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs and I love hearing Kirk Talley sing it. I miss the Cathedrals very much. Thank you for sharing. God Bless You. Gwen Weaver

  • Beautiful song . Love it god bless you. Thank you gwen for sending this video to me.

    god bless you always gwen.

    Thumbs up and stars*****

    wayne...............

  • i love this song

  • Why would a person that uploads a video want to argue with people that comment on the video but never say anything bad about the video? Some people just can't help themselves and justr love to argue..

  • espectacular este primer tenor

  • Kirk Talley is the best tenor that the Cathedrals had or could ever have hope to have. My opinion and probably thousands of others also.

  • Sorry all, but five years ago I heard a young girl sing this acapella with ten times the amount of emotion, and we were just sitting round the kitchen table. The version above is just a performance. Not exactly a singing hymns "Chained to the wall scenario".

  • @gregfortruth Just because you heard it sung what you perceive as better, doesn't denigrate this one.

  • Love Kirk singing this song. He puts his all into it.

  • Guess what. I know That Man. HE loves me just as much as He loves you. He will be your dearest friend. I am talking about the Man Christ Jesus. His love is forever. Can you imagine that? Someone who will love you forever. Well, my friend Jesus can.

  • having seen kirk talley, live a number of times I can assure you he is just as good live as on a recording. his whole family is gifted musicly

  • For those of you who've made the statement that Kirk couldn't belt the notes like Danny, listen to their live in Atlanta cassette which has been uploaded to youtube. Kirk was in his early 20's in that video and definitely in his prime. He belts out some incredible notes and his voice never sounds like it's getting tired throughout the whole concert. I once asked him why he never sings that way anymore and he said, "Things change when you get older"

  • When I need that "extra push" I listen to this song! It is so true and its gets me thru the hard times. The best song for me. God Bless you.

  • i didnt know that kirk sang with the cathedrals simply fantastic......will never find a better quartet anywhere except for in their videos;......they were simply amazing

  • I think it is ridiculous to compare all these men to one another. Kirk, Danny, Bobby, and Mack all have unique combinations that bring a blessing to us all. This Reunion video has been a source of inspiration to me over the years and will continue to be. I thank God for His infinite wisdom and mercy in allowing us to preserve these performances so we can enjoy them over and over!!!

  • Kirk Talley and The Cathedrals are a gift from God.Gwen Weaver 6-18-2010

  • Praise God!

  • I love the cathedrals and Kirk is good but I would pick Danny over Kirk. Much smoother. Also I would rather listen to Danny as a soloist then Kirk. Kirk does good on the songs he sings but Danny can sing anything.

  • The way I c it is simple,...in this video, the statement "leave the best for last" is so true!

  • Then they messed up, cuz they should have put Somebody Touched Me at the end if that was the case. (: It was the best song of the whole video.

  • Praise the Lord! If you truly know Jesus, you can't possibly listen to this song without tears and many many thanks!!!

  • Kirk is indeed an awesome tenor. Not the belting out style like some, but his tone is great, and he has good pitch, and interpretation. ....this group did the Live in Atlanta record in 83, which is my all time favourite live album.

  • I agree. Great album. My favorite song on that album is "Rivers of Joy". You may not know this, but when they originally released the album, they did not include "Moving Up to Gloryland" I have the album. When they re-released it, they included it and I got it on cassette.

  • this song is just fantastic

  • Just simply doesn't get much better. I agree that no-one does it like Kirk, and he nor The Cathedrals bettered themselves when he left the group. They're all still great, but not like this.

  • Well (IMO) this group was great, but Kirk couldn't ever come close to touching Danny and that era of the Cathedrals.

  • agree with bncsgm...jmho...

  • Well, IMO, I heard Danny when he replaced Kirk sing moving up to glory land, and my friend, the shekinah was not the same. I would choose Kirk anytime.

  • @chowman007 I hope I never have to hear ANYONE sing THAT song again......lol

  • @BnCSGMusic Amon shared with me that Kirk was struggling vocally that night so they put him on when he felt his voice was best. Was not planned this way.

  • @BnCSGMusic I agree my fav line up was Danny, Mark and Gerald, but I would have to say that Kirk and Mark is what turned it around for them.

  • @BnCSGMusic Hmm, interesting observation. Danny was good, but I don't know that he's better than Kirk.

  • @BnCSGMusic

Great thing about various configurations is that u do get ur favorites. I have never heard a better version of this song. Kink, as far as I am concerned was at the top of his form and i still say he sings this song better than anyone ever has

  • @shodobe1 Agreed, Kirk has always been one of my favorites. Roger, Debra and Lauren as well. The whole Talley family is very anointed. The Cathedrals were great with Kirk on tenor.

  • love it

  • Nobody sings this song like Kirk Talley!!!

  • yes bfadams, lee roy wrote "moving up to gloryland"

  • Wonderful, praise the Lord!

  • Awesome

  • What a great tenor. I LOVE this song.

  • BnCSGMusic ... você tem uma preciosidade aqui eim^^ amo essa musica e Kirk Talley ...meu Deus!!! O Brasil também tem bom gosto!!!

  • George said in the Reunion video that this song of theirs saved many souls. I think that is probably right. It was on the top of the SGM charts for nearly a year.

  • I thought it was Step Into The Water that was on top for almost a year.

  • Thanks, I stand corrected; you are right. Both are great Cathedral's classics.

  • Here's two other Cathedrals songs from the REUNION video that Kirk helped make famous, and no doubt about it, but Kirk was standing on stage in this video and the following two with the greatest three men in SGM. The first was the one you mentioned, "Step Into The Water" (written by Kirk Talley) @ watch?v=Eh9l83lCyr0 and the second was "Moving Up To Gloryland" (wrote by George Younce) @ watch?v=WfB4hgFqA8A

  • Which were all posted by us haha

  • Yes indeed. Thanks for sharing? Kudos.

  • Moving up to gloryland was written by LeeRoy Abernathy, who was one of Georges vocal coaches.

  • Thanks for correcting the record. Mr. Abernathy did indeed write both the lyrics and the music of this great old song. Movin' Up To Gloryland was one of the song featured on Gold City's tribute album to Lee Roy Abernathy.

  • Didn't Leroy Abernathy write "Moving Up To Gloryland?"

  • Yes ... lonemapper corrected me. See his note above. I would edit my comment but that's not possible. The correct spelling on his name is LeeRoy not Leroy.

  • God Bless Kirk Talley, he has one of the most beautiful voices ever.

  • Kirk does an awesome job on this song. I haven't heard it in years.

  • oops, click the wrong button! and God is my witness. The truth of the matter is that only a woman like mary magdalene could top Kirk in singing it.

  • @clksvlguy yeah he can sing,a shame he's a Queer

  • @rcayers3yahoo Uncalled for.

  • @3caldwell you are right,being a Queer,IS uncalled for.thank you for agreeing.

  • @rcayers3yahoo Wow, god bless you my friend. I am sorry you feel that way.

  • @3caldwell you know,if you love God you do not want any1 to be queers, read Romans 1:26-28,& many other places,it's not only a sin too God,it's an ABOMINATION too Him,so you be your way,i'll be God's way.

  • This is so great. Very touching song. One of the best in the world. God bless you Kirk Talley
