  • Saw these at Newcastle City Hall supporting Simple Minds.

This is what the 80's is all about - Rebellion with shoulder pads & blow-dried hair. Quality.

  • they hit the big time in 84 backed simple minds at ibrox

  • has anyone got the domino effect by these guys they can post, can't get it anywhere

  • @mikthepainter I thought The Domino Effect was by Zera One, not Silent Running.

  • @upfrontbear74 deffo remember them doing it on some rte show back about 88?, just after they announced a tour supporting ac/dc, could be wrong though, took me 3 hours to work out what age i am last week

  • @mikthepainter The Domino Effect was by Zerra One. Similar band. Except Zerra One tried to be the next U2. These guys apparently were the next Simple Minds.

  • big minds fan but as soon as i heard this band they blew me away - got the shades of liberty tape - put it onto a minidisc but could do with them releasing a cd - go on guys you know it makes sense

  • I too saw them supporting Simple Minds in June of 1984. Bought the album, got it signed by all band members at HMV in Oxford Street - still got it. Been hoping for a CD version - this is the first time I've heard this for over 10 years (no record player) and was still able to sing along to all the words - thanks so much for posting.

  • ho scoperto questo gruppo tanti anni fa a bari facevano da supporters ai talk talk fantastici

  • seen them supporting simple minds at the barrowlands, regular music, they were good live always wondered how they didnt make it big.....?

  • Got this album on the strengh they supported Simple Minds..It blew me away every song on the album, was better than u2 ever done..play guitar in S.M. tribute band based in Cork & apart from The Minds, these lads & Zerra1 played a huge part in me givin it a go..Big Country included..

  • feenoSM..ya still don`t get it ..Silent Running loved Simple Minds so much and yes they supported Simple Minds..BUT...BUT..They always wanted to be Simple Minds..They where crap...And please i hope you don`t think your Charlie from The Minds..Who the f*** are The Minds....

  • No martybimps?? I didnt say i was,or thought i was Charlie from Simple Minds,I said i liked Silent Runnings`album `Shades of Liberty`,if you didnt like them, thats your call, but you wanna start a slagging match bout Simple Minds, then you know where you can go..saw SM more times than you probably went to school...Idiot

  • God knows why these guys didn't 'make it'. The album 'Shades Of Liberty' is one of my all timers. I thought these guys were cool in '84! All my friends at school into Duran Duran, Wham, etc. Me, it was this kinda stuff, the Minds etc.

    Got all three albms somewhere.

  • Thanks pgu2 for posting these 3 tracks from Shades of Liberty, somebody please post the complete video clip Emotional warfare and the best I ever heard in my life : YOUNG HEARTS.

  • awesome song. wish i could download the whole album or buy it on CD. I have the song Young Hearts in perfect quality from the same album. No idea how I got it. Let me know if anyone wants to trade

  • i have the 12 inch of this from a bargain bucket in the 80s for 30p i wonder how big they may have been if there was no u2

  • im with his daughter now.

    :D shes cool

  • Walk On Fire was released on CD back in the 80's. I had it but I never really liked it that much so I sold it. I do wish they would release the first album though.

  • They remind me of the stiffs..

  • i'm so glad that they had a video like this one.I had vinyl lp of Silent Running "Emotional warfare".-OLAN

  • Shades of Liberty side 1 and side 2 now available on Limewire to download. Please excuse the sound of the vinyl. Could only get both complete sides. Could not split the individual tracks. Enjoy

  • this made my day finding this clip i also saw them support the minds pure dead bril

  • yes, i share the same opinion: a re-release of their first two albums is now overdue!! great song, nice memories of the 80's!!

  • What a surprise to find this great clip, I saw them live when they were the support band for Simple Minds back in 84 and they blew me away from the word GO! I just wish EMI and Atlantic would release the first 2 albums on CD. Many thanks pgu2

  • Now that, I'd pay to go and see!!

  • Great band from the 80's, good music and a great vid, cheers for who posted this
