Hahahaa... the thing is, that's not really true. When he was preparing for his role as Travis Bickle, DeNiro actually got his NYC taxi license and worked the night shift in Manhattan for a couple of months to get the feel of it and get into the role.

If you google 'DeNiro taxi license' a picture of it will come up on image search.

@IrishPuglover3565 No offense to you, sir, though, I frankly am glad you do not write the synopsis for any films. Taxi Driver wasn't as simple as "crazy killer". It touched on nihilism, the impact of the Vietnam war conflict (and surrounding conflict in Laos/Cambodia) on soldiers, post-traumatic stress disorder, hedonism, amongst many other things. Crazy is such a largely misused word and is very subjective; while it's obvious he has some form of psychosis, I just don't feel like crazy "works".
