You know what, I never liked Chris Rock before but I think I just changed my opinion. Erin Pizzey is also just an incredible speaker, and I think it's very telling that she was the founder of the very first women's shelter, and yet now sees the same issues with society and misandry that intelligent, informed men and women do.

I have to say, whilst I agree with your points...I think this one is kind of the weaker one.
I think there are a lot of variables here that you expose yourself to when you use raw numbers the way that you have. Also, make sure when you're making a comparison, that your metrics line up: for instance, when your soundbyte says 10 women are sexually assaulted each week, for a fair comparison, your screenshot should indicate how many men were SEXUALLY ASSAULTED for the month.

@TrustowrthyRapist Really? I've watched all of the Soprano's (twice actually) and I don't actually recall him slapping around his women. It was generally the other way round, as I remember, because he was a character drawn to the dysfunctional type of woman. Can you remember which women he slapped around?

He grabbed carmella and pushed her against a wall, threatened to hit her in the face, then hit the wall instead. And lol Christopher beat the shit out of Adriana on a daily basis. Janice got beat up too, not by her husband though. Oh and that blonde guy, the capo, that tony kills, beats a stripper/prostitute to death.

@TrustowrthyRapist I see. I thought you meant Tony was abusive to the women in his life but the examples you give here were in the context of arguments where both sides were abusive. As for the other characters, Adriana was not beaten by Christopher except once, I believe. Janice got beat up by a Russian for stealing some other girl's false leg (!). Anyway, this is all incidental. Are you saying that the Sporano's presents violence against men and women equally?

I mean, as you can see with all these examples presented, that the sopranos presents violence against men and women equally. If a woman makes the same mistake a man makes, she gets equal punishment, as you can see in adrianas execution. I think the Sopranos is a brutal honest series and they portray violence in a very equal way concerning the gender issue. Give some credit.

@TrustowrthyRapist I agree that the Soprano's is a very even-handed series compared with almost any other I can think of ("Rescue Me" series 1 is up there is well). However, equal treatment it is not. The IDEA of equal treatment is in full effect within the storylines, the PRESENTATION of said treatment is not even close to being equal. That is clearly shown here. Regardless, I agree with your initial comment that the Soprano's is not unusually misandric, but clearly I disagree as to why.

Chris Rock is awesome. Another great comedian who trashes feminists and talks about how badly men are treated is Bill Burr. Youtube him. Great material, I instantly became a fan. He doesn't take shit from women like most apologetic mangina comedians and tells the truth.

Correlation or causation on that suicide in the media research?
I doubt female prostitutes are the same as hustlers - they can make a lot more money, without a pimp, though of course streetwalkers are the same except the mans need to do gay sex - men have less options when poor, prostitution really isnt open to them.
Even if media has some casual role, its probably reflecting society more.
Wonder if the methods of preventing crime to women have increased crime to men absolutely or relitively?

its true, men have to learn the hard way, that if you walk at night, in the wrong place at the wrong time, you just might get jumped or robbed or both. And of course a man seeks to protect himself from these things by arming himself. it should be no surprise then that feminists, are almost universally for gun control. They know that women have big brother to protect them from violence and men simply do not.

@boxant I don't expect anyone to look out for me when I go about my business, I am more than capable of (and indeed have been) when faced with a situation that poses/ed as a threat to me. I am a woman who dealt with a man who tried to cause me harm. I behaved as a woman protecting herself, not even thinking about whether or not anyone else was around! Of course 'people' will complain about social violence, do you think they will praise it?? Are you happy to think that violence is happening?

@SianJosette What a silly question. The issue is not that a few women take steps to protect themselves (this is a good thing, violence must be resisted). The issue is that by in large most people do not take many (if any) steps to be protected *before* violence occurs. Be it in precautions, being armed, home security, ect ect. Now this is a problem for all people, but women (in general) are not gifted with physical strength, so are already starting from a weak point.

The murder rates in England in 2009 were about 600. In California, the same year, they were over 20,000. I doubt "learning to protect yourself" limits violence against men as much as gun control; just because Feminists support a policy doesn't mean its not the best thing for men. I doubt Men's higher rate of crime death is anything new.

@unassumption Ummm, there are about 15,000 murders in the entire United States each year. You're pulling stats out of your ass in a very feminist-like way. Brazil and Russia have strict gun laws and high murder rates. New Zealand and Switzerland have loose laws and low murder rates. Britain's murder rate went up when it banned guns (and now has more property crime per capita). Major cities in the United States' have had murders go up after gun bans. Your argument is nonsense.

have you taken into account, that california is one of the most strict gun control states in america? and that the only ones that are forced to follow these gun control laws are the law abiding citizens? compare cali with states like texas, im willing to bet that gun crime in texas is drastically lower.
