You must decide itself what format is the best for You. DVD format is also Mpeg format, but it has better audio features and then file size is bigger. I use mostly free VirtualDub nowadays and I capture with it by using uncompressed Avi - the file size is huge, but the quality is the best possible. If I need it smaller, so I open that file into Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 and save it to WMV. Then 10Gb can go to 150Mb.

I recommend to use free VirtualDub - I like to use it more than Ulead Video Studio. If You want to share video to Youtube, so I recommend to capture it with VirtualDub in uncompressed Avi file and open then captured video to Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 and save it to WMV file. WMV makes it smaller file size, but it is still a good quality if You first capture it with uncomperessed Avi.

What is the name of the audio driver which You have taken in use as a source in the capturing software?

If You have Vista or Win7, so have You taken in use Ulead XP compatibility as I have adviced? You must run Ulead in WinXP mode if You want to get that Preview Audio feature to work in Vista or Win7.

If Your video is laggy, so it due to mostly lack of power - Check that from Task Manager's (press ctrl+alt+del) Performance tab - CPU Usage must be under 50% during capturing and if it is more so try first to stop all other programs and if it doesn't help so buy more RAM and/or better processor.

USB 2861 Device is the name of the video driver and it should be found also in Ulead Editor here: Capture/Capture Video/Source - if You can't find it there in the menu, so it can due to that some file in Ulead is corrupted and reinstalling may help. Test also with free AmCAP and that driver should be found from Devices tab.

I bet You have there 60Hz Xbox game as like Halo3 or MW2 and You should use either PAL60 or NTSC-433 formats. Note1: These formats are hided in the special menu in Ulead Video Studio 10 which You must take in use separately. Note2: You must have the best Easycap model DC60+, because DC60 doesn't support 60Hz videos. Note3: There has been many cases that only NTSC-433 works with 60Hz videos even if You live in PAL-area.

Unplug Hdmi cable if You have one in PS3 and reset display settings by holding down power button of PS3 until You hear beep sound.

Then reinstall Ulead and drivers and try again. Try also with some other software as like free AmCAP or VirtualDub.

So You don't have EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B... The most common reason for distorted audio that You have adjust too high volume level of Your microphone settings in Your Windows - so You should lower it or turn it off.

I bet there is something wrong with video and audio codecs and I recommend to install the latest FFDShow codecs into Your Windows. Try also capturing with several formats (Avi, Mpeg, WMV, Mov etc) and if You have Vista or Win7, so install Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 into Your Windows - I think it is much better than older versions of Movie Maker.

You have probably bought a fake product and inside that main unit is totally different components that there should be. Manufacturer can use a different chipset and then it uses different drivers than a genuine EasyCap.... I bet there is a SMI chipset which doesn't have USB audio at all.

I advice You to take contact to the seller.

What do I need to do because the serial I got for this matches a ULead CD I am almost certain. It contains 2 dashes (-) and 18 total characters.

The most common reason for distorted audio is that Your microphone volume level is too high - so decrease that level.

There can be also some other reasons, so if that first advice doesn't help send me a message via email and tell more details about Your computer and about Your capture card version.

Use free VirtualDub - You can capture with it straight into HD size by using filters or You can render it bigger afterwards. With Ulead You can make it bigger afterwards if You use Share tab:

1. Click on Edit tab

2. Drag and drop thumbnail image to the timeline

3. Click on Share tab

4. Click on Create Video File

5. Choose WMV HD

6. Write the name of the file and Save

Check if Your processor works too hard - CPU Usage should be under 50% and if it more so buy more RAM.

If still problems, so send me more details of Your system:

- is Your Win7 32bit or 64bit?

- what is Your sending video device - is it game console, VHS player or what?

- what kind of cable You are using - tell me the colors of the RCA heads?

- are You using some adapters other than splitters between devices and cables?

Tell me what is the name of the video driver at this moment? If You are using Ulead VideoStudio, so You find it here: Capture/Capture Video/Source. That is important, because it tells me what EasyCap model You are using and if it is a genuine model or not. Besides that there has been many cases that Windows has updated automatically from the internet the wrong video driver which prevent USB audio to work.

There is inside Dazzle DVC-100 the same Empia chipset as like it is inside EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B so the quality should be as good..

They are equal with EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B as like in this vid - as You know Dazzle DVC-100 has inside the same Empia chipset which is also inside EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B though they have different drivers. EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B uses an original Empia drivers, but Pinnacle has modified chipset so that they can use own drivers.

Make an Avi test with some other software as like VirtualDub to find it ot if it due to defective Avi codecs or corrupted file in the capturing software.

I try to avoid to be a video editing teacher, because it would take too much time to do that.. so I recommend You to search help from Youtube videos and Help parts of the capture softwares.

Pinnacle Studio is a commercial software... I recommend to test free AmCAP, VirtualDub, CaptureFlux, Deput 1.48 and Golden Videos.

This is for capturing video. I would like to ask you what format and settings are the best for exporting excellent quality videos, that were edited after being captured by camtasia?

Whatever format I use with Ulead, the end result is always not very satisfying. Any tricks?

For better video quality:

1. Install FFDShow codecs to Your Windows

2. Use gold plated cables and adapters

3. Check that all contacts between devices, cables and adapters are tight enough

4. Do not use any extra USB cable - put EasyCap/EzCAP straight to the USB port

5. Switch off all other programs during capturing

6. Capture with 720x576px PAL, 720x480px NTSC

Test also with free AmCAP, VirtualDub, CaptureFlux, Deput 1.48 and Golden Videos.

@EasycapExpertti Thanks man... I think I do have FFDShow codecs.. I was referring to screen captured videos through camtasia, not imported videos from usbs or camcorders though. Don't think there are cable issues there.

I get the best quality with VirtualDub when I capture video with uncompressed Avi and after that I remove black borders and resize video to HD-size 1280x720px with VirtualDub filters. At this point the file size is huge (2min can be 10GB) and then I open that file into Windows Live Movie Maker and save it to WMV file which makes file size about 150Mb (2min video).

Then something is wrong in Your computer. Try next to install DirextX 9.0c in Your computer - it should be in Your installation CD.

You can find FFDShow codecs with Google - write there: free codecs com FFDShow download

Choose either 32bit or 64bit package. Unzip it and install it. It works then automatically in Your Windows.

Windows need always video and audio codecs for several formats (as like Avi, Mpeg, Wmv etc) and FFDShow codecs are known the best codecs with all EasyCaps.

Hello, I have an XP computer I installed the Easycap driver from CD.

but when I go to device maneger it doesnt stay under sound,video and games.

its on a USB or something like that and there is a yellow explanation under it...

There can be a conflict against some other USB device as like webcam - if so You must unplug that another device.

Reinstall drivers and restart computer after that.

If still problems, so tell me exactly what is the name of the video driver in the Device Manager - then I know what is Your EasyCap model and then I can perhaps send You a download link for another driver package.

USB 2.0 Video Capture Controller is Microsoft's default USB video driver and it means that EasyCap drivers has not installed at all. Try once again this way:

1. Delete that wrong driver manually

2. Unplug EasyCap

3. Restart computer

4. Install drivers from installation CD

5. Restart computer

6. Hook EasyCap again into the USB port

7. Check from the Device Manager if Windows has found now the right Usb video driver (f.ex. STK1160 or USB 2861 Device)

You must have USB port ver. 2.0.

when i install driver i had an error windows logo-test.. I choose go on anyway..

but maybe is that the problem.

and is USB2.0 in the front of back of the PC.

Windows Logo-test can be passed. 

Look at from Your computer's manual if You can find out USB port version - it must be 2.0.
