  • Hey thanks. I really agree too, he was really a product of his time. And he showed that when he knew more, like in The Blue Lotus, he used it and really was ahead of his time. Also he was probably very young then.

  • (2) That foolishness I took over. It was also because of my own naivity/foolishness. Blacks have more aspects but I only showed that naivity. I didn't want to show blacks who lie and cheat. But Tintin in Africa isn't mean. It shows, because the comic has been published recently in the magazine Zaire in Kinshasa. There hasn't been any critisism of it. The blacks found it very amusing. Because also they have distanced themselves from that time.

  • @mauherkan Oh, thank you very much for taking the time to translate! And I agree with Herge. Reading the Tintin comic books, you can clealy see that he was a bit naive while creating the first books but he certainly grew up a lot later. That's what I like about him.

And your English is perfect! It's not bad at all. Thanks again for the translation!

  • I wish there was English subtitles.

    I love Herge.

The then belgian colony. Those who had been there said that blacks where naive and lazy en stole things. Typical stories of colonialists. ...
