Another poor decision by Labor in Qld. A bloke I know bought a 100 acre block in the Mary Valley 4 years ago for $320,000. Our astute Qld Government bought it off him 2 years later for around $1.2 million and are currently leasing it back to him for $10,000 per year. This bloke kicked a massive goal and it was the taxpayers of this state who paid for this and every other poor decision Labor has made. Unfortunately the opposition is so weak here in Qld it probably won't matter in the long run.
Why does the QLD Government persist with building a drought dependent dam when instead for about the same cost they could build a drought immune desalination plant that would always meet the daily water needs of Brisbane, or recycle water from all areas. Portray Anna Bligh as not caring about SEQ's water needs: in Sep 2006 and Apr 2007, she rejected engineer's recommendations to build a massive desal plant on Bribie Island that would easily supply Brisbane in this water supply emergency.
You should join Tasmanian greens. They hate dams so much it's thier dream to demolish them. Some poor platypus professor pointed out that would kill thousands of his little friends and the greens turned on him like rottwielers. Poor guy, I never heard what happened to him in the end, so I guess the green vigalantees did end up running him out of town.
