I'm completely sympathetic to battered women. I think there are very few things that are lower than a man who beats women. At the same time I think Robin Givens is lying about this. She said on multiple occasions in the past that Tyson was verbally abusive not physically and that he was a manic depressive. I'm not defending verbal abuse either but I just believe she is either lying or greatly imbellishing the truth. Tyson's second wife Dr.Monica Turner never complained of him beating her.

But I do believe Robin and her sick headed mother were after nothing but Mike's fortune, and they got a huge chunk of it. They were barely together a year. How much of this so called hell did she actually endure? Much of the time Mike would be away at training camps and appearances. She's full of shit.

The difference is the motivation. Men do it out of a societal expectation to be the strong controller in the relationship, the one who 'wears the pants in the relationship.' Historically, transnationally there has always been 'precedents' for men to see themselves as the authority in male-female interactions. To the point of physical enforcement, sexual enforcement, etc. Religion, politics, even peer pressure and a bad upbringing can all potentially have a hand in this.
