Weird first time i saw Arachnaphobia aged 10 i felt no fear or nothing, second time watched it about 2 years later when i was 12, seriously i couldn't eat or sleep for days on end, if you seriously hate Spiders, this is defintly one to avoid, especially the final half an hour.

im so scared of spider and my mom has the same problem. my mom forced me to watch this with her and my step dad and brother. i seriously couldn't sleep for almost 6 days because i was afraid that spiders would kill me. but when i was alone i the house 7 days after the movie i found a spider that looked like the spiders in the movie. i was screaming and crying that loud when my mother came at home she found me sitting on the floor with a lighter and a Lucifer. she ask me why i sad i saw a spider.

@filmsfandisney It was that bad plus it was made about 5-10 years before Eight Legged Freaks. Eight Legged Freaks was just a joke of a movie but with this one, it could show you what may possibly actually happen if a foreign spider like that one ends up coming into the states and mating with a regular spider. All and all this one is obviously more realistic.

@DeadSpace2007 Eight Legged Freaks was an intentional B-movie and a good one at that. This is more of a cult classic but it is primarilly the whole reason why most people think spiders 'drink blood' and can kill people and all this other crap. Spiders don't have a hive function so obviously this movie doesn't do a good job of potraying them accurately.

I must've watched the film about 50 times over the years, I'm very familiar with it; and while it may have some humour entwined within, it's misleading to label it a 'horror/comedy". It is first and foremost a horror/suspense thriller. You can't rely on IMDB for accurate info, they also categorise it as 'SciFi', which is also misleading

@Talisman09 I've noticed that it all depends on the viewer's thoughts on spiders.  I don't mind them at all, so to me it's sorta a half and half movie. Not scary/creepy enough to be a horror or thriller, and certainly not a 100% comedy. If you read the video notes you'll see I called it exactly what it was called back in 1990, a "thrillomedy". Seems appropriate! =]

Fear of spiders is NEVER irrational. I scream like a bitch when one is too close to me. I don't have a HUGE arachnophobia, I can look at them but I freeze when I see them in person and stare at them to watch where they are going. If I don't know where they are I can't concentrate and look around to make sure it isn't near me.
