since todays gpu got support for DX11 we'll get nicer and more smooth graphics (for eample shadows, tessllation and other cool futures).

but thats just the thing- the GPU is just as much part of a gaming PC as the CPU- my comment was aimed at the entire PS3. The Cell is incredible at Paralell processing, but then again- so is the GPU. The PC's CPU's wasn't built with that type of architecture. Thats not to say the new i7's are slow- but the Cell is just bomb at Floating Point when programmed for it. Then again- so isn't the GPU. Get what im trying to say. The SPU's and ALU's on the GPU and Cell are quite similiar.

thats where the difference of PC and Console is most dramatic. PC Games are all designed specifically thru either the incredibly advanced DX10/DX10.1/DX11 API's which take full advantage of SPU's which modern day GPU's are now sporting well over a thousand SPU's. The 4870X2 has 1600 stream processors. Imagine that translated into real time desktop application performance. It destroys anything on consoles even when you combine their raw data through put bandwidth.

the lighting through the ears thing is done with SUBSURFACE SCATTERING, possible with all shader model 3 cards, from Nvidia's 6000 series (2004) and ATI's X1K series (2005), not miraculously with the use of cell processors.

Consoles are based on PC technology. A console no matter what it is cannot come close to matching the preformance of a PC. If believe crysis is not visually spectacular please go and take a look at some gameplay screenshots.
