it did not deplete the tire at all. the tire was expanding from the centrifugal forces being put on the the tire. and it was flat at the bottom cause the forces being applied. such as the wheight of the car and the centrifugal forces.dont forget this car probably was moving around 300mph
@Lakshico It isn't the heat. They run low pressure and the tires are designed to be that soft. With those drag tires you want the tire to flatten out on the bottom when he takes off and is accelerating. That way there's more rubber on the ground. The heat from the burnout is to soften the tread of the tire even more and get some fresh rubber laid down to help with grip.
blowouts aren't anymore common at the dragstrip than anywhere else. Those tires are supposed to deform like that, it's how they are made. watch a top fuel dragster and you don't even need a close up shot to see the tires deform.
you both are wrong they run one motor i worked the drags for 16 years some of he big guys like force have more then one on hand but most of them rebuild right there on the spot if they have an extra then they got a shit load of cash on hand and some of the engins are made for them but most the fime they make them thete selfs
@savageguy25 that is not completely true there is a small amount of tread on a drag slick but unless you are talking about a "cheater" slick then there is not enough for them to be street legal but wither way there is a very small amount of tread on a slick
Ya'll They dont exactly put a new motor in after every race... They overhaul it with a new cam, pistons, and crank shaft... If you've ever seen the crank shaft out of a funny car you would know why... They are spider webbed with factures...
thats to much i think my dad use to drag race and he said he only but about 7 psi in his tires NASCAR uses a minimal of 16 psi when tires start going left and right and these tires are close to three times that size.
A number of you are wrong. There are dynos that can handle the power these motors produce at the necessary shaft speeds. The reason they are not dyno'ed is because they would overheat. Those cars do not have cooling systems. And yes 8000hp is the estimated output.
no if you just putt it back together it will still be to hot there for they rebuild the motor with all new parts and they got parts for at least 3 whole motors in there trailers
They dont buy new engines, they already have them made, those engines are so powerful they only last for one run. Whats smackers said. They have some motors built already.
dude those cars cost over a hundred thousand, same with the engines, there really expensive to race, and they do have the money to afford all that stuff, they started from little riced civics to these super expensive cars, and yes i have seen a funny car irl.
Right, they probably didnt tell you about the other engines, the engines get so hot they cat race them the next race, man whatever, maybe its just your place thats just too cheap to have 3 motors.
they don't need a new suspension. they have wobbling tires :D

@Zickcermacity they tune the engine more, then they burn out it only lets you push the gas so mutch. then they make it so you can full throttle

Place your mouse cursor at the edge of the white tire mark at 1:22 and leave it there. The tire expands and the treads deplete like crazy.
GoodEvenings 2 years ago 16
I don't think we needed to place our mouse anywhere to see that. O.o

They've dropped the estimate output to 7500hp do to a dropped back rev limit.

Yeah, they only race them once, then they have to overhaul? / put a whole new engine in it.
GReddySTi05 2 years ago
its awsome to watch them rebuild a whole new engine basicaly under a few sec's
smackers99 2 years ago
I know, my teacher said theres a video on here about them overhauling an engine in 4 mins but i cant find it.

yeahh ehh

Lol, uhm no.
They take apart the engines after each run and inspect it.
Hell no they aint buying new engines for each run ...

GReddySTi05 2 years ago
Lol bullshit.
How the heck do you think they can afford it?
The sponsors can't pay for new engine every run.
They carry 3 engines to every race (approximatly) and after each run they take apart the engines and checks and replaces bearings etc.
May I ask, have you ever seen a funny car IRL?
Doesnt seem like it.
PinBot1986 2 years ago
dude those cars cost over a hundred thousand, same with the engines, there really expensive to race, and they do have the money to afford all that stuff, they started from little riced civics to these super expensive cars, and yes i have seen a funny car irl.

Nope - you were right the first time - tire deforms due to hard/sudden accel and low relative tirepressure.
