I was lucky enough to have him prematurely land his "Solo Challenger" flight about a half mile from my house in Jan/06 I had heard he was in the area and "in trouble", so was keeping an eye out for his balloon.I went outside to take another look and there he was about 1000' up and decending. His silverey ballon was in tatters but he landed safely. I videoed the landing and sold the video to ABC News for $1000 and they aired it on World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and also Nightline. RIP
not sure what that means, but am interviewing the current world land speed record holder--Andy Green, 763 mph--today...i'm gonna ask him what he thought of Steve's attempt
murve says - if there is a man alive right now that has half the strength of character and depth of adventure as Steve Fossett.... Please show yourself.
What a dimple dick, you are worth 10 billion, you have a wife and family, and you throw it all in the shitter Up Up And away in my beautiful ballonn..what o freakin fuckstain! He should have taken O.J.Simpson,Robert Blake and Phil Spector and all the other wife beaters in that balloon with him.
I heard he went into a portal and probably went into another dimension where there is complete peace. No money or war. He will be coming back to this dimension to tell the whole world.
Of course, if Fossett had a catastrophic or tragic event (such as a heart attack or stroke), I don't think the plane's beacon would have survived the type of impact an out of control airplane experiences. I truly hope he is alive, and somehow comes out of this!
Steve should have had better beacon systems and some Ham Radios on board. A small HF Ham Radio transceiver would enable him to be heard by many others on the air. Hindsight is 20/20....
Take that leadership of his and convince every homeowner in America to put a 4kw solar cwll on their roofs, and kick the legs out from under the opec barons.
Hopefully, he's alive, walking around his plane and wondering where his ride home is.. and thinking about how goddamned lucky his life has been.
I agree, rest in peace (if indeed that is the case and we don't know that as of this posting).
But "great soul"? Sorry, "fun guy", or "big success" maybe.
A great soul would've taken zillion dollar "fun money" account and instead of spending it on collecting personal records, would have tried to directly improve the world. Homeless shelters. Restoring homes in New Orleans.
A cool guy for a grandfather may he rests in peace
