how do you put airbus in reverse, like in a Boeing for example 737 they have reverse levers on the throttles in airbus a320 a330 a340 etc do they just continue to slide the throttles back pass idle
@MrTillster What? I love british pilots too being british myself... Perhaps you misunderstood my comment... Murph1331 said "why is the accent brittish?".... Its called sarcasm...
Seems to get a running gag about "retard". But you know, in a boeing nobody get´s a command to put the throttle to idle. So Airbus is more up to date right ? ;-)
Retard means to retard(=decrease) throttles to idle, which will make the aircraft loose altitude and land softly because of the height (which is about 10 feets). I know the word was chosen by French guys ...
with a name like murphy your calling the pilot british thick shit............................ when your mum lets you out , go back to picking potatoes, the fresh air might do your brain cells some good.presuming you have some !
the autopilot helps the pilots alot to take rest because they lose there consentration gradually along the flight this is one of the best advantages of the modern airplanes.
i really feel with the commertial pilot when he is at the end of 12 hours flight ... all the crew will be exuasted and tierd but the autopilot helps the pilots alot to take rest because they lose there consentration gradually along the flight this is oneof the best advantages of the modern airplanes.
i really feel with the commertial pilot when he is at the end of 12 hours flight ... all the crew will be exuasted and tierd but the autopilot helps the pilots alot to take rest because they lose there consentration gradually along the flight this is one of the best advantages of the modern airplanes.
Well ATC cleared him for a visual approach to 22R, So he was not cleared to autoland, not sure if there is an ILS in LFMN, would prefer to fly a visual instead of letting the plane fly.... who wouldn't ! hehe
I was like "why don't I see the runway at all??? pilots must have really good eyes to notice it...." then I saw it on the left side when the plane kept turning.... XD
retard means reverse thrust it means back to idle and then reversing the thrust at that time the reactors will fuction on a oppsite way , 100 above means 100 fett above before landing or touching the ground on a specific altimetre
the note of the jets change a lot in the last minute, is this done manually? I'm presuming it is, but I don't know much about Auto-throttles so could someone point me in the right direction please?
the autothrust maintains the approach speed during the the landing phase. any fluctuations in airspeed (either due to wind or pitch changes) are compensated by the autothrust. this can be done manually if desired.
For each approach you have a height which is the last point a decision to continue to land must be made based on the weather (legal requirement). This is known as "minimum's" and the auto callout by the computer "hundred above" is one hundred feet above that height. It's a reminder.
That is NOT correct! the "retard" call is simply a reminder for the pilot to close the thust levers and for anything, but a autoland it will come on at 20ft.
Whatever you say flyerboy! By closing thrust levers, do you mean go idle? I know a pilot who did just that. He lost his commercial certification. What if you need to abort?
Well, "RETARD" as information means that "you're late". If that is with reference to thrust and/or relative altitude doesn't matter. However, since virtually all landings are vectorised, overshooting is no longer a problem whereas throttles are still manual. Hence, you're right, it was unfair of me not to mention throttles. And you're also right, you don't know where I got my flight training. I do :-).
After the plane is on the ground its normal for the pilot to go idle. If it is not on idle then you cant use the reverse thrust. Its as simple as that. And anyways, arent u supposed to go idle when you are like 20 feet above the runway so that the plane will come down. Im not a pilot so im not 100% sure, but i think thats what they do.
Well you're wrong about that. On the Airbus, throttles go to Idle regardless if you've moved the levers back or not. So that's not really an issue. And yes, you're supposed to go Idle simultaneously with touching down or just before. But not too early, if you may need to reject and goaround. If the throttles are on Idle at that point, you won't have sufficient time to gain thrust for that goaround. Pilots have actually lost their licences for going Idle too early!
Under Autothrust, yes the thrust goes to idle when touching down, but you must close the thrust levers so you can select reverse thrust. Under manual thrust, if you don't move the thrust levers at touchdown (start doing that at the 'retard' call) then the thrust remains proportional to the angle of the thrust levers (TLA) and touching down with thrust on is much more of an issue than selecting idle to early. Think of how much your stopping distance is increased with thrust still on...
I'm impressed how late the pilots line up the runway for landing. I would never leave it that late on FSX or a simluator but then I don't have the visual scope (or experience) that these pilots have.
wow! I've just been there (Nice)... There is 1 plane /minute taking off on one runway and 1 plane/minute landing on some other runway.
