Fanatics, religious or not, like to look for s.o.as target for all the frustration they have.A lot of people seem to live that kind of pestilent stupidness no matter what kind of education they have. It’s not obligatory a lack of intelligence. They are frustrated, angst-ridden, full of prejudices, lacking in self-esteem,
superstitious. So they are looking for a scapegoat. Those people are really dangerous especially if they team up.I bow to the deceased, to his courage,to the guide he performed.
First It was the blacks, then the jews, then latinos, then the muslims and now the gays. Asians, you better watch out cause, you probably are next... Now at the risk of sounding racist (what i'm not) white people have never been persecuted like all the others, have they?
when it comes to stoping the spread of homosexuality Uganda has GOT IT RIGHT. We need similar laws here in the United States. If you want to see what the homosexual is up to with children then watch a youtube video called " Homosexuals A danger ? " " it will give you real insight as to what these sick people are doing.
@pray4theGay Your user name is pray for gays, but you think Uganda has it right with a law that could result in gay people being murdered by the government, and that could result in people who do not report people suspected of being gay to the authorities serving jail sentences. Sounds like you really want to murder gays, not pray for them. I noticed you seem to have a fascination with gay people. Perhaps, you have issues to deal with.
@pray4theGay you got right.this is the true way of dealing with queers.they want you to think they're good nice law abiding citizens.but inside their minds are putrid and rotten with all the nasty acts they commit.and they do have an agenda,to turn as many people as posible gay.so stop supporting this inferior beings that want to destroy the fabric of society with their perverted ways.if we dont stop them now it will be too late later.they must be sacrified for the good of humanity.amen
Gary and davidls11 this proposed law was done by an independent MP. Reality on the ground is Ugandans hate homos - its not one thing they see everyday and believe its alien to their culture - ditto southern USA. Witholding Aid money is not a choice as for you but for CIA for your lovely western countries will do business tomorrow with Sammy Laden in his cave if it served their interests. I can see this happening - Mullah Omar and Pastor Picketing GI funerals in a furious coalition against homos
There are two distinct issues. 1- a murderous law, which, in my opinion, is supported by a deeply closeted gay Ugandan. 2 - U.S. & developed world bullying of Asian & African countries. To the average Ugandan, they are mixed together. I understand why. I am not an American and do not appreciate US companies bullying countries. While Uganda is a sovereign nation, there is a question if it has the right to murder its own citizens in this way - violation of universal rights.
Even in the conservative states of the US, I doubt the majority of the people would support the execution of gay people.
Countries in the developed world have the right, as sovereign countries, to freeze aid for countries that have a bad human rights record. That has been done to many countries, and to take a position that there will be no trade with countries that support such murderous government policies.
I believe you did not understand me. You as a voter have no right to tell western foreign interests - many of which are mostly covert and illegal by most constitutions - who to deal with monetarily. The US would give Billions of Aid to an "axis of evil" nation even if they burn gays at the stake. Case in point SAUDI ARABIA. Do you know what they do to homos in Saudi Arabia? Where does Saudi Arabia get most of its arms? Do you agree with this? Why should Uganda be any different?
I absolutely have a right as a voter to tell my Member of Parliament to cut all aid to Uganda if the bill passes. And you can bet I will do that. I am not an American. I do not agree with a lot of what the US Government does.
Secondly, some "developed countries" use capital punishment extensively. The last man executed in Uganda was in early 2000s. It may serve you well to note Uganda is a banana republic with - like any other nation - politicians who are bananas. You may see prejudice but I doubt homos will be killed in Uganda. That said, if passed, it will be lawful just as the death penalty in USA! It can't be hard to stay in the closet and keep your gayness to yourself to avoid breaking the law now can it?
Hiding one's homosexuality is not easy. In fact, there are many suicides associated with that. The reality is being gay is as much a part of a person's identity as being White or being Black. That is just like asking a Black person to be White.
Reality check here - killing gay people is just as bad as if the US passed a law to kill all Black people.
If US passed such a law then it will be very immoral, sad for human rights and wrong on so many levels. Thankfully Americans don't think race should qualify you for such treatment. However, If I got a referendum on Gays in Uganda majority would think it illegal. Mind you not many would wish to kill Gays but it would and actually is illegal to be Gay. It is constitutionally frowned upon and its the law. Is that clear to you? Many other countries agree with this law as well
@Selsei - There are many people living around the world who would be fine with discriminating against Black people and killing Black people. That does not make it right, even if it is the majority opinion in an area. The law is heavy-handed, and targets only one group for persecution. That is the problem.
This is not an anti-Uganda position. I think from what I've posted, that should be clear. I've spoken out, in different ways, against abuses in developed countries too - including the US.
The law is immoral - all sane Ugandans know that. Just like any nation crazy politicians will use it for their own ends. Do you understand that? That is all this is. Of course there are those who will kill and even murder homos in Uganda just like in any other country. Can we put to bed this idea of you imagining the Ugandan govt will kill homos. It will not happen. Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda already and there are many other rights that are violated continually. Calm down
I don't believe in the death penalty but i don't get my knicers in a twist when US practices it. Obviously there are some issues Ugandans can pick up to understand homos but it wont and should not get you shooting your mouth off about witholding aid as if you aid is only given to saints and Godlike countries
@Selsei - Just because I am White and in one of the "north" countries does not mean you should get insulting. I have a moral obligation to speak out when I feel genocide is being proposed in a country. That is not "shooting" my "mouth off." In fact, it is responsible. If you do not like the fact that aid to Uganda could suffer, you need to lobby with Ugandan political leaders to try to stop or amend the bill.
I can't spell it out for you any more clearly can I. Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda. How many homos have you heard jailed in the country? It is a law that isn't enforced for a variety of reasons. Who says gays will be executed when the last man killed in the country was in 2000s? You are irresponsible if you think refusing Aid to the needy is a solution. Are you really suggesting if there is a Malaria or HIV fund you will withold it because government x hates gays? You are one sick man
Human rights has been a factor used by numerous countries in determining the level of financial assistance they will provide for countries. That has been a factor for years. I am prepared to ask that all aid be withheld from Uganda if a genocidal law is passed. That is not being sick. It is showing respect for all citizens in Uganda. Don't call me sick, because we disagree. Your insulting nature and your getting irrational and angry only serves to reinforce my opinion.
@garysdeskcom You do not seem to be able to discuss this topic rationally. Your public and private comments have degraded into insults. That is unfortunate. I strongly support aid to countries, but not when countries choose to target groups of people for execution. That does not make me sick. Because you do not seem to be able to agree to disagree with respect, I am blocking you.
@garysdeskcom I agree that aid should be withheld because this is a crime against humanity. It's tragic because no one seems to mind collecting a gay tax dollar, or shifting a gay priest, but they will not tolerate the glbt community requesting equal rights and protections under the law. A man should be able to work, and thrive regardless of race, sexuality, and gender.
@Mookiiy The situation is difficult. There are many people in Uganda who need appropriate aid. Withholding aid is not an easy decision, but state sanctioned crimes against humanity are difficult to tolerate, regardless of where they are.
@garysdeskcom I agree...too often are we hasty to make judgement without considering the people who just happen to live here. I'm praying for them, but it really just upsets me to the core that anyone in this century still looks for ways to ostracise people based on factors beyond their control.
@garysdeskcom I understand u. U seems to be a honest and sincere person but as today society looks like n what history has proven you can not really trust a white man. @ First Ive tried to see Hitler as a freak of nature among white people, but after what black-africans have gone through one might think that there must be a little bit of hitler in every white person nomatter how sincere and honest they may be.. HOPE this anti gay-bill go through so that we can be alone for ones from their "AID"
The bill discussed in Uganda's parliament is something one would expect from Nazi Germany, where gays were rounded up and put in concentration camps. Murdering fellow Ugandan's - your own people - is not a decent way to show independence from the west. If independence is what you want, refuse aid, but don't kill your own people to do it. That is cutting off your nose to spite your face - hurts you, not the west.
there was a study not long ago that almost double of what African countries receive in aid is fed back to the West in terms of the reduced prices of raw materials, etc.. This hypocritical behavior must be stopped... Africa has never in history received anything called "AID"... "If homosexuality is the price for reciving malaria drugs and for medicine to treat HIV/AIDS then we would rather die in dignity than betray."
From 2004 through 2008, Uganda received a total of $1.2 billion in PEPFAR money, and this year it is receiving $285 million more. The American taxpayer should not be expected to fund a regime that targets a vulnerable minority for attack.
There are many times when aid ends up being swallowed up in government agencies and procedures, resulting in much less aid getting to those who need it the most.
This You Tuber was blocked, because of the intense disrespect and hatred shown in this post. The post is left here to show how serious the problem of homophobia is.
I used to respect James Dobson. Years ago, within a few years of my first hearing his broadcasts, I started to become very concerned about the content of his broadcasts. He was already moving from supporting families to political action. I did not care for his political action and felt it compromised his ministry. I still feel it does. He allowed himself to become very tainted by political power and his own homophobia.
Here is an example of why I hate everything that is western and everything for what it basically stands for .. Since 1987 there has been a real genocide in northern Uganda where the climax of the massacre which took place between the years 1996 to 2002 were over 1,000 people dieing per week that is far more death than it will ever be in this context when one talks about gays ..
