Did Ellington screw his band so badly, or are the Zappa family using the always-convenient-never-outdated 'work for hire' model? Makes you wonder. RIP, JCB.
2:23 "...as he promotes his new album 'Crush All Boxes'"
crush all boxes was never released. it's songs were released on You are what You Is and Tinsel Town Rebellion, but they are alternative takes and mixes.
well he was in when frank wasnt as big as he was later on. and if you look at the early mothers members, where are those guys? you dont hear anything about bunk gardner or ray collins anymore
wasn't knocking him for it we all gotta make ends meet. i guess i sometimes forget my heroes aren't everyone elses . I would of thought he could of made a good living on making appearance's alone.
Ray Collins went back to carpentry and who knows what happened to Bunk Gardner; I think he's into photography now. Buzz Gardner died, as did JCB, Frank, Lowell George, Don Harris, and Beefheart. It's weird, knowing such a large part of that band is gone. :-(
True; but it's just kind of sad when one of your favorite bands has so many dead former members.
Though The Jimi Hendrix Experience is the only contemporary rock band that comes to mind which has NO surviving members. It's a reminder of our mortality.
this guy is a true hero who got screwed out of his royalties, and kept touring promoting the mothers music.where the fuck is gail in his time of need? shrewrepair you blow donkey's dick you and the whole z clan!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine Roy Estrada, original Mother, founded Little Feat with Lowell George, played with Beefheart and is just an average guy somewhere now. The Mothers influenced their era, their rock contemporaries and by association all of history and they didnt end up with the recognition they deserve.
i miss you so fuckin much!!

CAB was released as part of the Beat the Boots series, though from what I can tell, it's a completely different album.
