Excellent. The steel guitar and the flute really add rich emotion to their music. Wish there were more bands that played music with such meaning rather than just screaming and banging out noise.
I love Marshall Tucker Band my dad has seen them live in the 70's along with BlackFoot and OzarkMountainDareDevils seen all of them for a ticket price of $25. That is amazing.
See even MTV used to have good Music.Doug Gray is the only remaining memeber today and is still trying to hold the band together even though he had surgery on his voice box!
I've always heard that Jerry taught himself to play the flute in about 2 hours one day after Toy asked him if he could play the flute. He said sure I can, then went and learned it.
as much as I love him and this band, this mad dog vochalist reminds me of the Cowardly lion. Toy Caldwell was the man though, what did he do, like 4 tours in the nam?
all the marshall tucker songs are me and my dads huntin songs...we listen to em on the way to our stands and evertime we kill HUGE bucks NO LIE! my biggest buck after listenin to this song was a 12-point and then in the same day i shot an 11-point
we always go see marshall tucker in concert whenever they have one
A bit of trivea: There was no band member named "Marshall Tucker".
When MTB first got together in their native Spartanburg back in 1972 they were rehearsing in an old warehouse. They had yet to decide on a name and were discussing what they should call themselves one evening. Someone looked at the tag on the key and it said "Marshall Tucker" and it was suggested they call themselves the Marshall Tucker Band, not knowing it was a real person's name.
Because it was time to go to dinner and everyone was hungry they said "sounds great" and the rest is history. A few years later they found out that Marshall Tucker was the name of the person who rented the building before them. His name was still on the key tag because the warehouse owner hadn't changed it yet. Mr. Tucker was a blind piano tuner, who, along with his partner, used the building for their piano business.
There will always be "Fire on the mountain!" RIP George! Tell Toy we MISS HIM! I bet you, Toy, and Tommy have plugged in and have those amps humming by now!
Heck yea, the other great southern rock band beside Skynyrd! Its the first time ive seen the guy play the flute, its flute that make thier songs sound so differant.

Jerry Eubanks earned his position in the band by beating out Xparody for the flute position. I love Jerry's saxophone solos in the MTB songs as well.
