@JayLF. Poster is from Oz...I'm quite the writers will be glad to accept royalties (if the song hasn't passed into public domain). You Tube is a very International site and people who haven't visited Oz wouldn't know too much about Coles Supermarkets!!
This could have something to do with Nick Simper a bass player who was originally with Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, who went on to play with Deep Purple..Got that kinda sound to it.
Nick Simper was in the car that Killed Johnny Kidd and his girlfriend.
Normie Rowe & Coles supermarkets have absolutely murdered this song for their new ad. If you are going to watch it, I suggest you bring a rope to hang yourself....
I really like this prerockstyle. It gives me the vibrations of a bygone era. A lot of band have been inspired by "JK &The Pirates". 1965 was a very interesting year. I have found a lot of unknown band thats incredibly great. Listen for example to THE ZETTLERS and the tunes "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah".
I didn't expect to like this version, but it is Johnny Kidd and I haven't heard it before and I'm delighted that you put it up, though I prefer the original.
Anyone out there came across some Johnny Kidd footage?
Never heard this recording before. I am guessing this new version was done in response to the Chad Allan and the Expressions (Guess Who) version that brought in the keyboard.
you guys should try the live at leeds... i like this version a hell of a lot better than the vince taylor one i listened to, but with ox, moonie, pete, and roger, this song is just perfected
There are even better Who versions than the Leeds one. Do a search for the song title plus "Amsterdam" and then another search for the song title plus "Filmore East". Absolutely incredible.
Right, VT adds a touch of voodoo to the song that elevates it to a higher sphere with the kind of kinkyness that touches the rotten soul of us Cramps fans. Shake Babe, shake!
I love the cover by Mr IGGY.POP !
you even feel the shivers on the backbones!

Don't forget the ORIGINAL riff was invented by Joe Moretti. Worth seeking out his work.

Ah..the riff that inspired millions to pick up a guitar. Mick Green was a legend in the same way as Link Wray. (R.I.P)

I figured that one was pretty well-know, which is why I put the 1965 version up. I may put the '60 version up if no one else has, though.

I somewhat prefer Vince Taylor's version of the song, he made the song somewhat wild and sensual. That first riff is TOTAL CULT though.
