  • I think the purpose is to give the gluing stage more surface area to ensure the book stays together. Again, this is the way I make books I don't know what would happen if you didn't follow the instructions.

  • is there any need of the black fabric?? please reply! :)

  • book binding thread is suppsed to be used cause its waxy and less likely to snap while sewing. it is however hard to find. an awesome substitute is dental floss. seriously.

  • For the "tape", you could always be lazy and use black duct tape. That's what I'm doing :D

  • Thank you so much for the video.. It really helps. ^^

  • do you sew through the tape or around it?

  • What is the function of the black fabric? I am wondering if I could do away with it. Thank you.

  • but i have some papers with text on it :( please help me i want to make this kind of book too!

  • What happens if i use regular white thread thats on the thick side?

  • @jstluv92 it would break easily...regular thin threads wont be strong enough hold the pages together....use the thick ones...the ones you use in crocheting? i guess im right? just use the thick ones for better results.

  • What kind of tape is that?

  • @xxcmgxx12 its not really tape 2:27

  • Glue is just your run of the mill white glue/school glue/PVA. This means it might not be acid free but it doesn't bother me. When I make a book which is very precious that I want to keep forever I will do a bit more research and check out what other glue is available.

  • how dow you make the gule you used in the video ? or whear did you get the gule?

  • That's right :D

  • wow you make it so easy thank you

  • what kind of tape do you use?

  • hey, im having trouble in understanding the bit where u add more thread. could u make another video demonstrating it clearly? or could u send me a message explaining. thanks! ps, this is the only bit im stuck with! im making it right now.

  • Mmm, I'm not sure I can explain in any other way, where exactly are you stuck?

  • I would consider the book I make in this vid as a hard cover. The card I used was

  • Use whatever thickness card you like. I would consider the one I made in this video to be a hard cover book

  • I'm assuming that the material or "tape" will allow the glue to soak in and create a stronger bond to the binding of the book.

  • What kind of tape is that you are using?

  • Yes , just use fabric- its to sturdy the signatures. I'm no expert- trying making one without and see what happens.

  • I still don't understand the "tape". Is it just black fabric? And what's the point of it?

  • What are the tapes that you are sewing to the signatures? That is the most perplaxing thing to me. Is it a specific material or do i just use regular strips of material?

  • Regular strips of "paper" instead of material twice. My apologies.

  • This is a great commentary, but why does it keep stalling during play?

  • where would you download video

  • does the tape show up?
