  • Awesome man! i can tell you really enjoy worshiping god! this is my favorite song to play at my church!! :) God bless!

  • like ur snare work, the occasional rimshot was nice. Too bad u could/didn't mix down the drums a bit. You have a good core sound to ur kit, but a little compression, eq & the slightest verb would sweeten them up & make them sound huge.

  • so nice!! God bless you!!

  • I Loved and enjoyed this! I dont know wat else to say this is awesome!! I want to be able to play like that...I think umm ill be watching you more and more...(sounds creepy huh lol) this is an awesome video!!! if i lived near u i would like watch u play like all da time and it wouldnt have the pausing lol i was going crazy on the pauses lol..heard some nice beats but couldnt see how u did it..sigh Awesome job again God bless you!!!

  • i like it!!!!

  • You did a wonderful job playing the song. And the next part of this ministry is to pray it while you plat it. Good ups bro and watch your dynamics, don't let it get to crazy.

  • Very nice!!!

Look my video playing mighty to save in portuguese: watch?v=UobItMIhTNk

  • simple and solid stuff

  • This video is one of the best examples of timing and subdivision on youtube.

  • Hey brother great job... Such a fun song to play. The kit sounds hot! Keep rocking for jesus bro. I hope to have a tape on soon.

GOD BLESS YOU MAN! KEEP WORSHIPING GOD!

P.S; whats ur kit on this video? loved this one! xd

  • want to drum in a church with a full amplified accustic drumkit as well =(

instead of that in my region there are just e drum kits, cajon or bad muted accustic sets at the churches or youth church services....hmm

  • cool men

  • u good

  • Great drumming, I wish our churches kit sounded that nice. I also play drums for my church. It's great to see another drummer play for a church. :)

  • Well, Alan (I believe that's your name), I enjoyed this video.

I like your style of drumming; I thought it was simple yet solid.

I also like the way you are able to sing along while you're drumming.

I'm going to continue worshiping God with the gift He has given me and aim to play drums like you do.

In simple words: Watching this video inspired me.

    =]

    God bless!

  • @TheFoxHounder

My name is Alan and it's good to meet you in a virtual sense. Thanks for leaving the comment and checking out the videos... it means alot. This song is a fun one to play... glad the video inspired you. Keep developing your gift for God! Have a great day!

  • @thedrummer5 Hi, Alan, I work for a medium sized First United Methodist church as a drummer, and we play this song alot, it's become one of my favorites. I just want to say that you are very solid and it is obvious that you're a pro. Keep up the good work!

  • @BibcottUnitas Hi there I just wanted to thank you for the kind words. Yeah it's a fun song to play. You should post some videos so I can check you out. I wanted to see some videos of you playing but I realized that you didn't have any videos uploaded. Thanks for watching my videos! Have a great day!

    -Alan

  • Great job, bro! I have to play this song tomorrow for an audition for my new Church's praise team. . . This video helped :D

  • @mattillakk

How did your audition go for your church praise team? Hopefully you hit those skins and they liked what they heard!

  • @thedrummer5

It went really well, man! This Tuesday was an amazing practice and it's only the third time all of us new folks have played together :D Very soon, from what I hear, we will be playing on Thursday nights for the Student Ministry. . . Who knows where we'll go from there :D

  • What kinds of cymbals did you use in this video?..( I'm sorry about my horrible english :)

  • @maria091293

Sorry for the delay in response. In this video I think I was using all Zildjian. 14" Mastersound hats, 16" A Custom Crash, 18" A Custom Crash, and I think a 21" Sweet Ride. Thanks for checking out the videos. Have a good one!

  • @thedrummer5

Not so flashy but very nice feel! Keep up the good job!

  • That kit looks and sounds beautiful.

  • are you improvising or are you trying to be as close to hillsong as possible?? i only listen to the songs to get the basic beat then when my praise team plays it i improvise

  • @IcemanEntertainment Hey thanks for checking out my videos. I try mimic the song as best as I can. I try to get the signature fills down exactly as written... especially if it's a cue that helps the band into a new section. A lot of the time I will get down the groove and signature fills that make the song what it is. Other than that, I may add in my own touch to the song. But even if you play all of the parts like the original drummer, it will still sound different. Especially because

  • @IcemanEntertainment a lot of churches don't have or use the same instrumentation as what is being played on the album. The guitarist may have a different sound or the song form may be different depending on your worship leader. I hope that this was useful. Please let me know if you have anymore questions or didn't understand something. Thanks!

  • @IcemanEntertainment well aren't you special.

  • @IcemanEntertainment Its always good to improvise, however its best to learn to imitate the original track first. Get the real soul of playing from the original drummer's style and then improvise into your own style...Same as guitars and everything else...Cheers

  • wow!that was awesome, the best so far.^_^

oh btw, the guitar on the verse needs to use delays, actually for the whole song it doesnt need to turned off. i knew he wasnt using one in the verse as i have done it before and it sounded pretty much the same as in this vid

  • nice man keep rockin and playing for god!!!

  • Hey man thanks for posting this video! You're incredible, i love how you did a rendition and didn't stick to the song 100% Great job, God Bless

  • Do you know how much it cost to mic up your kit behind a screen, i mean your churches kit?

    Thanks James

  • god bless.

  • Amazing man you got a gift from god...

  • aaah si es que se thoka eso...!!

  • Nice drumming! More power and God bless! Keep it up bro.

  • hey what church is this

  • your pretty good but it seems like u have back problems or something cuz u move weird...

  • @drummaddict it si called getting into the music..nothing wrong with his back...

besides he kicks ass on the drums...

  • awsome!!!

  • Wow.. you're the man.. You replied every comments.. Great job :)

  • you got a good feel for it. good groove

  • Great job and those drums sound awesome. What kind of kind of snare is that and what size?

  • Hey thank you so much for checking out my videos and for the kind comment. That did sound pretty awesome! As for the snare I'm not sure because it wasn't my kit. I do know that it was a DW kit. Sorry that I can't be of more assistance.

    -Alan

  • nice drumming man remember to be careful with your dynamics. You dont want it to be the same volume the whole time.

  • your form is bad, loosen up, its all in your wrists, other than that...good job!

  • @leddaddy37 Praising God is nothing about form and all about the heart. What does his form have to do with anything? It's not like he posted this to receive feedback about how he plays or what he needs to improve on.

  • Great job, do you have a monitor, if not how can you hear?

  • Yeah all of the musicians have in ear monitors. Thanks for checking out my videos Richard. Thanks and have a great day!

    -Alan

  • @thedrummer5 what does an ear monitor do?

  • In-ear monitors (IEMs) are basically an alternative to floor wedges. They cut down on stage noise by taking your regular wedge monitor mix and putting it in your ears (sound guys really like this idea.) Especially if you play live with loops, backing tracks, or even a click you would need to use an in-ear monitor system.

  • @thedrummer5 so for this show you had a metronome while you were playing? and for singers does it just have the bands instruments going through that ear instead of the floor monitors?

  • Sorry for taking so long to reply back. Yeah I had click, a little bit of my kick drum, worship leader's vocal, and the other instruments. Vocalists are you using floor wedges. They probably have some guitar and keys along with their individual voices. Hope this helps. I think I answered your question.

    -Alan

  • @thedrummer5 I Agree :)

  • This could be as simple as a wired headphone amp and headphones or as elaborate as a wireless pack and ear buds. If you use anything requiring a click like backing tracks or loops, you are kind of forced to use some type of in-ear monitoring system becuase most people don't want to hear the click... it's not all that musical. I hope that helped you understand a little bit better the role of in-ear monitors. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

    -Alan

  • WoW! Thats an impressive drum set for a church :D

  • guitarist could use some work.......especially the beginning riff :)

  • nice cover and facial hair bro

  • your drum set rocks bro...ooh n u too...

i've been lukin for this video n now that i found it...

  • Great, good job...!

  • they are at 152bpm on the clicktrack

  • Man.. playing the verse is hard to play on the drums because the bass and snare is like a triplet or something. <_<

  • nice!

  • what kind of drums are those

  • They look like some DW's

  • awesome dude

  • Nice Cover man! Check my cover out and say what you think!

    Bless

  • great sound!!!!

  • you did a Good Job man!! God Bless you!

  • oh praise GOD for drummers. My husband is the drummer at our church and i love that he is so anionted. I think praise and worship is alot better with drums. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

you did a wonderful job drummer GOD bless you. keep worshipping him through your call as a drummer

  • Might to save is kind of easy to me on the drums!

    I love this song!

  • cool!!! i wish i can play the drums...SOMEDAY!!! PRaise the LORD!!

  • do the drums normally go all cymbal about 1:15??

  • Yeah.....but normally you should just keep it light on the hi-hat! Sounds better that way!

But this guy did an awesome job!

  • Really awesome worshipful drumming.

  • wow

    you copied the beat perfectly

    glory to GOD

  • It's close,but the intro!

    It's 16th notes on the hi-hat!

    Good job though bro!

  • thanks for posting this... it helps me to understand the rhythm of the song.. irs perfect

  • Comment removed

  • um you fail! if u "think" u can read someones heart during their time of worship then u need to check your own buddy!

  • Awesome playing ! I especially like the very end where you are turning your music sheet to the next song, while continuing to play! Fantastic!

  • I play drums at my church, good job, but I want to hear more of the band, so I can hear the drums within the context of the music. Well played, because I can guess where the music was. Great job. I love the riding on the crash at the end. Big Chorus calls for Big crash.

  • thedrummer5,

I love what you are doing here. God has truly blessed you with your incredible talent at drumming. There aren't many drummers who give the glory to Him like you. I would like to thank you so much for being among the few, but proud Christian drummers.

    God Bless,

    IlovemySavior182

  • Hey thanks Josiah for the comment and taking the time to watch my videos! The camera was as far back and out of the way as I could possibly get it... trust me I understand what you are saying. Thanks again for checking out my stuff Josiah!

  • u do need to loosin up a little but ur really good though :)

  • can anyone make a drum cover of glory by hillsong.lift up your head open the door something like that.. thanks and God Bless!!

  • By far, one of the best covers of this song that I have ever heard!

I love the defining "crack" of your snare drum!

  • nice work

  • good job man hey dont let these people put u down god has a purpose for u and looks like thats it , good job brother :)

  • lol

  • okay.

  • @drumster01 your a shame drumster01

  • dude i love the sound of your set..your really gud

  • Dude! Love your snare bro.!

  • loosen up a little..but your really gud dude;)

  • but dude u can play though man id have a worse performance if it was me

  • Nice... thanks for the nice video ^^

  • this is for Rolf Wam-how long do you play on drums???

  • After 4 years of playing the drums, I can tell you that we ought to give God our best, he might look at our hearts, but what are we doing with the taletns he has given us? are we being mediocre and saying "yeah thats cool God only looks at my heart", or are we given him our best offering? you definitely need to practice, and practice, and after that if you have any time left, practice some more, thats what I think about your drumming, God deserves our best, not our left overs...

  • thats cold blooded but its right u do need a lil practicing hillsong drums do complicated stuff and u do look really tense

  • I don't care how great Hillsong drums are. God does deserve our best. How can you judge if this is his best or not. If his heart was right, when he went onstage, then he is giving God his best. You people need to quit trying to judge talent, hey at least, he IS using his talent to glorify the LORD.

  • you're awesome mate use it for God's glory and he will enrich you , amazing you don't play for a band like hillsong etc

  • Hmmmm.... In my own belief, the simplier the better. It takes less errors and more relaxing to be play... God doesn't look an how you play. He's looking at the heart of every worshipers. So I'm proud he's doing it for the Glory of God and not for his own Glory... Godbless!!!

  • do you work at andertons guildford

  • Hey thanks for checking out my videos. I do not work at Andertons Guilford. I live in Cleveland, OH.

  • nice job..,.keep on rockin' for the Lord

  • ROCK ON!!!!!

  • I don't think he's tense. He's just playing super chill. all drummer's play different and this is definatley my favorite style.

  • I don't know if he's tense, maybe it's just the way he plays drums...

Whatever it was it doesn't matter because you played it great =)

    God Bless! <3

  • yeah he looks really tense

  • im wondering about he`s arm :(

  • i saw you in anderstons

  • hillsong the best

  • i love the sound of the snare drum

  • Great job dude, great to see God has blessed you with the talent to play drums... I hope your remembering that its all for Him bro..

    God Bless

  • he looks like tim mctague of underoath. but nice cover

  • good cover but drop your shoulders and feel more relaxed.

  • it does'nt really matter man if he feels comf. like that he plays like that, and he up there will bless you man keep it up God bless u!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Great Cover...

You truly are using your Talent...

    Suggestion, at 5:01.

    The snare alone sounds empty.

You should (on yer 1) Put in

a open hi-hat and snare Flam

    to start the fill...

Well... that is what i do...

    take care God bless.

  • i love your style of drumming....anyone that says the drummer plays too loud doesnt know what their talkin bout....you owned the set in this song! great cover!!

  • dynamics mate!

if your hitting as hard as hard as you can all the way through, which is what it looks like your doing, it will be very diffivult to build upto an effective climax

  • What's that thing beside your hi-hat? Do you read drum notes?

  • It's just basically lyrics so I know where I am if I get lost. I read a little... trying to get alot better at it. Thanks for watching the video. I appreciate it. Have a great day!

  • Okies! Well i just thought i'd acknowledge your drumming skill here, you did a wonderful job! I loved the fast fill-in. I suck at those lol!

  • Dude that was some good drumming, it was simple and had alot of punch, especially in that bridge when you were on the toms,my church is starting to play more rock now, and i love it,Also i would like to add that you see few musicians get in to worship any more, and honestly this video lifted my apirits may God bless you with more anointing

  • typo i meant spirits not apirits lol

  • The bass drum at 3:26ish is awesome! From one drummer to another!!

  • great video! Thanks for making this. I'm the drummer at my church and we just started playing this song. This video is invaluable.

  • Yea dude, this sounds Really good!

    awesome drumming!

  • haha hey CRAZYCORN

    you dumbshit

    i wanna see you drum

stop goin around watchin peoples videos just to write bad comments

    arite crazycorn you crazy corn

  • dude its not touretts

he's just gettin into the music

try drummin like this and see of you dont move like this

    anyway amazing drummin man

    love the intro

  • dude u have touretts...

  • and your an idiot.

  • oh im an idiot. how is that?

  • because you said he has touretts just because he's moving around.

  • i didnt say it cuz hes moving around i said it bc he looks wierd when he plays...i play to and i move around, ive just never seen someone move like he does...by the way that doesnt make me an idiot...

  • hey im sry u have to deal with idiots like the guy below

and to the guy below, ur an idiot

  • man im sorry that all these guys are retarded. and to the guy above...screw u

  • I don't know what's better...the great tight drumming or just watching the drummer sing along and get into the song with his entire body !

Ain't worshiping God fun ? !! ...keep on drumming man :-)

    Mark, NC.

  • our guitarist uses a kapo for the beginning riff. it makes it so much easier. nice job!

  • great job dude, i like how you get into it and are enthusiastic ! please post more drum clips because i learn when i watch others play :)

  • The Lord blessed you with an exceptional drumming skills my brother! Keep it up! God bless!

  • was this at Lift '08 in Springdale, Arkansas, cause this was the drummer there.

  • This was shot at my church several months ago. I have never played at a Lift '08 in Springsdale, Arkansas. Althought I wouldn't mind playing at a Lift Conference. Ironically enough I was just in Arkansas over the Holiday.

  • coincidentally*, not that's not ironic, sorry I'm just a little bit crazy about how many people misuse that word. But nice drumming, like otherse said I think I noticed some hesitation on the down beats which would make it slightly off, even if you kept to the click. I'm just learning this song so I may try out this simplified version if I can't get it in time worship, the 16th note pattern with the bass is a little tricky. Over all good job!

  • Awesome song, Awesome cover and nice set

  • I love this song. You def have the feel for it and the kit is awesome. One small suggestion and please dont kill me but the first quiet chorus when you are hitting the ride you probably just need a few random cymbal swells to add dynamics . Keep on the good way man, worship is an amazing way to lead others into an experience with God. For some people the worship is what helps spark a longing for God and a cry out of praise. He is worthy,

  • Hey thank you for taking the time to tell me what you think of the video and what works and doesn't work. I appreciate it. Just trying to use and further my talent that God has given me. With out him we wouldn't be anything. Thanks and have a great day!

  • hey i just gotta say its awsome ur giving props to God for ur talent and not to urself

God will def help with ur drumming which by the way is pretty good

  • nice job. is that a dw kit ? my church we have a ludwig, pearl, tama drumsets.

  • It is a DW Kit. I don't know much about it because it's not mine and I've only played on it a few times. For my personal kit I have a Tama Rock Star which works out pretty good. Thanks for the comment.

  • great job dude! a little choppy on a couple of the fills, but i like the cymbal/tom riffs. what kind of heads do you use on the toms?
