@MichaelMaleszyk That is, because the Sherman brothers didn't use this tune in Mary poppins. And for the jungle book they had to do one more song (for the snake) and so they took the idea of this song!

This is, in fact, the same song as "Trust In Me" from The Jungle Book, just with different lyrics. But I guess that's pretty obvious.

Imagine Mary Poppins singing this lol It would be so wrong now after it landed in Jungle Book. Although she does sing the children to sleep at one point. It may have worked well there. Glad they saved it for the big python though lol Only a melody like this could get Mowgli hypnotized...

I heard this song on my "Jungle Book" soundtrack, with The Sherman Brothers interview, I couldn't get it out of my head!!!! I honestly like this version better than "Trust in Me."
