how do u now when te dial pointer is in the right place when replacing the cord? cause u have make sure the dial point is pointing at the right place. (like pointing 97.5 while listening to 84,5) my english is not the best but i hope you'll understand what i'm meaning to ask.

The european markings tio capacitors are easy to understand, For example: 10k = ,01mf , 50k = .05, 4k7 = .0047 (.005) and so on. The small ones like 100pf = 100E. I notice that you could not find the right string setup. So, if you want I have the complete service manual with all necessarty info. Meyer

This is actually a Tenma from MCM Electronics, it's probably a 1980's model.

Neat radio, European radios are always interesting looking. You usually see something done differently too. The radio sound great, very nice.

Thanks! Yes everything looks different from American components, even the tubes except the 6BQ5 are a different base type than the usual US 9-pin type.

i have a 1948 philips my great grandpa bought new in aruba. it needs capacitors and the cord that moves the indicator is frayed and needs to be replaced.

Haha, those were the days, when SW radios named just about every town in a particular region on the tuning dial!

Yes I will, I was just testing to make sure the chassis fit back in the cabinet OK. I need to re-install the dial pointer too.

Check around 41-49 meters. Should be some stations there, especially in the evening/night.

@TheTarrMan There are still many shortwave stations, but not as many as there used to be.

I remember back in the 60s when there was Radio Free Europe crossing the "iron curtain", with jamming, Russian/Cuban propaganda, Radio Luxemburg, BBC, Voice of America, etc., SWL was way kewl back then, and I had a Blaupunkt to pull them in too! now it is China, some Europe, and religious stuff.
