I'm getting crucified for my previous comment about the game not being available on the PC... Learn to read, folks: it was from a year ago, when the developers stated they had no intention of making a PC port. I'm happy that they did, as it means more people can enjoy the game. :)
So the hero is the living, breathing, Chinese-burn dealing personification of war according to the Christian religion. Does that make him the toughest character in video game history? I suppose that will depend on how well-received the actual game is, and whether you think Greek gods are tougher than Christian gods, but it's not a bad starting point. Vigil has come across a great premise for a franchise here. I hope they do it justice, because the trailers are pretty epic.
I beat this game the other day, think legend of zelda, meets god of war, meets the apocalypse and the bible, and you actually get an epic bloody romp through heaven and hell's greatest characters. also war is voice by yuri lowenthal one of my favorite voice actors, and then mark hammil plays a couple characters, it's pretty sweet...not to spoil it, but the ending leaves it open for the possibility of a sequel, and a possibility of four player I hope

What I hate about darksiders is that when you beat the game, you lose everything. You can't go back and play your old game, and when you start a new game, you have nothing that it took hours and hours of playing to obtain.
I would like to play a full game without finding that crap again and just enjoy the game. I think that the cluttering of these fighting games with hidden stuff is getting out of hand and taking away from the fun of the hack and slash genre.

I have been closely watching this one, and its cool that your character is not good or evil. As such you well most likely not only be kicking all kinds of butt, but you could be working with members of both heaven and hell at times.
It is indeed sandbox style. It's open world exploration: once you get through an area, you can still go back and the game actually encourages you to go back. The more you explore, the more hidden armor/weapons/items/etc you are bound to find. The game rewards those that actually take the time to root out its secrets.
