  • This looks shoot style but still worked to some extent.

  • didn't know Shamrock had those types of kicks in him after watching the Lobman fight eventhough it wasn't enough to stop that slapfest at the end

  • @1385progess u blind?shamrock was getin bitch slap

  • whats with the fail armbar at 1:26? ken's better than that....=\

  • so different... everyone dead silent in japan vs the us people screaming like crazy...

  • why did it stop that guy got the shit slapped out of him by ken lol

  • Ken Shamrock, pioneer and legend of MMA. RESPECT!!!

  • Holy shit Ken has long hair!

  • countdown?

ROFl... kind of confusing when the fight should continue on the ground in my oppinion :O

  • People forget things about Ken like the fact that he beat Bas Rutten both times back in MMA's heyday. Bas used to say that even though Ken threw palm strikes and neck chops Rutten could feel the sheer power of them when they connected. Ken was a dangerous man - unfortunately he just has a hard time living without that respect and now he's going down the path of embarrassing himself. I have much respect for him, though.

  • @armoredsoldner you are speakin the truth!

  • @armoredsoldner - I coild not have said that better. He is much deserving of respect that he just does not get at times. That has to be hard for any fighter to be in that situation towards the end of their careers

  • were there weight classes in pancrase?

  • now yes

  • This is pancrase right?

  • @Taavioneeger No i believe its the UWFi. Shoot style matches with predetermined outcomes

  • Proper MMA fighters should wear speedos like theses guys. It's a shame the ones nowadays are too scared to wear them

  • i noticed ken throwing open palm punches, were closed fist punches not legal back then?

  • @W4NZ1 As a rule, closed fist punches to the head are not allowed in Shoot-fighting, only open hand strikes.

  • Who won this fight?

  • Ken should grow the hair back!

  • Amazing, the crowd goes so silent in between highlights so that U can hear a pin drop!

  • really cool, is it a work or not? Ken was obviously still learning how to do an armbar but his supplex throw at the beginning is just amazing.

  • that ankle lock must've hurt bad

  • wrrd

  • Sean Penn kickin ass!

  • Oh wait thats not frank in the red my mistake

  • This fight actually in the Fujiwara Gumi back in like '91.

  • oooohmg

  • Ken looks funny with long hair

  • awesome I love combat sports!

  • which one is shamrock?

  • in black

  • Pancrase

  • What organization is dis?

  • Ken did a lovely belly to belly suplex. AWESOME!

  • fuck i want to watch the end of this fight!!!!

  • its rude to cheers in a public place in japan

  • That's true. Like in a Japanese movie theater, you wait to react until the movie has finished.

  • Is this what pro-wrestling would look like if it were real?

  • yep

  • Exactly!

  • not sure what year this occurred but nice body kick by Ken, also liked his crooked head scissors.

  • i believe this happened a couple months before the first ufc, so about 92-93

  • ken looks fuckin scary nice

  • who the fuck is ken fighting!!!???

  • The fight is to smooth to be real.

Just look at Kens fight in the arly UFC they were never not like this, even against guys that didnt know subs.

  • This is an old pancrase fight, the strikes were very limited and it was very different from the UFC. They had some classic fights in pancrase, but all the shots are real. Most of the bouts back in the older pancrase days were really slow and methodical, for the japanese audience.

  • No this was Fujiwara its pro wrestling shoot style.

Funaki will create Pancarse later on to have real competitpn bouts.

  • who is the other fighter???and how win this fight?

  • this wasnt even pancrase it was just a good shoot style match. your right tho about the japanese crowd ...there extremely quite lol

  • Ken Shamrock in his prime was very, very good!

The problem with Ken (imo) is age got to him. Some people are lucky in that sense as they can continue to fight in their 40's like Randy Couture. In his prime he match against Tito would have been completely different, imo. I am not saying would would win (same with Ortiz) just a different type of fight.

Maybe his few years in WWF screwed his body up a bit. Who knows? Ken Shamrock was awesome, just like many early MMA days! They rock!

  • i cant picture tito beating ken in his prime ken was just to good to fast and to strong.

  • who is ken fighting??

  • is this real?

  • and wut year is this in?

  • who is ken fighting?

  • who the fuck is he fighting???

  • is that funaki?and if it is which fight is it out of the 3?and who the fuck won?i know ken won 2 of the 3.

  • Whats the deal with this fight... are neck chokes not allowed? If not why pass so many opportunities for them

  • they were, pancrase had a lot of rules and didnt even allow closed fist strikes, the early days of pancrase is exactly how a REAL pro wrestling match would look like, nowadays pancrase follows traditional MMA rules

  • Both men are primarily shootwrestlers. They prefer leg locks and arm locks to chokes.

  • Who won and how?

  • Shamrock could've been a true legend. He's certainly a MMA hall-of-famer, but he could've been so much more.

  • He should've kept the hair.

  • lol - kind of looks like Alex Grady from the Best of the Best movie.

  • funaki helped train that beast shamrock.

  • i sort of like the open hand striking rules, it opens the fight up to a much more technical style. you wouldnt have seen shamrock go for half those submissions in a UFC fight

  • true your right but American fans are are stupid all they want is knock outs

  • not really true american mma fans love grapplers

  • that is a sterotype that is not true, i am american and perfer submissions.

  • @MasterChiefsSon im american and i love watching submission fighting

  • nice hairdo Ken!:)

  • What's the deal with this is it a work or real? The suplex at the start is too smooth and they seem to stand up at some wierd points. Also why are they only slapping in the stand up and not striking at all in the guard.

  • cause its pancrase rules

  • you should be more concerned with Shamrock's haircut.... he looks like George of the Jungle.

  • ANYONE KNOWS WHO WON?

  • I know - Masakatsu Funaki. With armlock.

  • is this sum weird rule set with no ground striking or chokes?

  • this is a good fight shamrock is good too bad he got old

  • this is a fixed fight, all of that orgs fights were.

  • Why is it so quiet and shamrocks are the shit!

  • finally no commentators

  • How dose Ken keep his hair back?

  • acme quick dry concrete mix

  • I have been watching MMA since 1993. If you've followed MMA long enough, Shamrock actually was a very good fighter. His career peaked early in the early days of the UFC. This fight is really old; however, Shamrock improved dramatically over the 5 years following this. While he didn't have natural talent, he worked his ass off and still did really well. I have to still respect him. I remember very well his 3 year winning streak. He still had some respectable wins. Give the guy some credit.

  • philosopher2king: Ken participated in two worked fights in Pancrase, one of which he won against Hume, who injured himself in training, but instead of canceling the match they put on a worked shoot for the fans, and the other when he lost the KOP in his rematch against Suzuki. Pancrase didn't want Ken to be their champ in the event he lost to Severn in the UFC, who was known in Japan as a pro-wrestler. They feared it would look bad as they were trying to distance themselves from pro-wrestling

  • unfortunately that was common place in Japan. There was a very thin line between the fiction of pro wrestling and the real pancrase fights and sometimes that line got blurred. Even in the early days of Pride there were worked fights. Takada's wins in pride were worked not to men mention overmatched fighters for trained pros. Mostly the Japanese fighters benefited from this. To my knowledge Sakuraba earned his wins but you never know.

  • im confused is ken shamrock and frank shamrock brothers? plz reply to my comment.

  • Yes they are brothers. Ken is younger.

  • frank is younger

  • yes

  • They are actually adopted brothers, and yes Frank is younger.

  • they are adopted brothers. Not brothers by blood.

  • wow what a sweet slam in the beginning

  • wow, Ken had AWFUL hair in this fight

  • ok that was mean you could of posted the whole fight :S

  • i think ken cud cum bac stronger than ever

  • he is too old

  • dude wut is this it look like mma on the feet but then wen they get to the ground they dont punch wtf ?

  • This is a Pancrase fight. It wuz like mma, but they could only use open palm strikes to the head. The could only punch to the body.

  • It's not Pancrase, it's Fujiwara Gumi...

  • Thank you. I wanted to know who that was.

  • Ken look just like Metzger did earlier.

  • Go Metzger..Err..Shamrock!

  • ken could of choked him like 10 times

  • These fights in Japan back in the day were all set up.

  • Not all of the Japanese fights were fixed. Pancrase formed by Funaki & Suzuki were not rehearsed at all. They were shootfighting/shoot-based wrestling. The rules differed from present day MMA. Yet, the fact remains that it's fighting for real - albeit under a set of rules.

  • Fair enough, let me me re-phrase that; I personally know of at least one match in which Shamrock was made to win because he was a crowd favorite.

  • pancrase had works too...it's been admitted.

  • nice cliffhanger

  • it's too bad about Ken Shamrock. He was about 10 years too early for the UFC. he would really have been more of a success.

  • Tocayo! You might be too young to remember but Shamrock fought in his prime in early UFC. The biggest hyped-up matches (and the most boring ones) were between him and Royce Gracie.

He did well in UFC, but went on to make more money in fake wrestling.

  • Yeah, had Ken not left the UFC in his prime for the WWF the way he did, who knows how much more success he could have had. Had Shamrock stuck around, we probably would've seen a very different Shamrock fight Ortiz.

  • THIS KEN WOULD HAVE BEAT ORTIZ

  • the japanese Funaki teaching to Shamrock

  • FYI: This is the Professional Wrestling Fujiwara-Gumi promotion.

  • I think this is Pancrase. Ken's (or Wayne's) opponent is Masakatsu Funaki.

  • Check out the mullet on Kenny. Not surprised he dumped it when he went to Pancrase.
