Packing looks exactly like my Ranger TR696FD1; I don't know but definitely an over-rated radio. Look at the stock mic, it's what comes with Galaxy "DX" radios. Bracker's definitely a Ranger or Galaxy.
@dieseldriver2003 RANGER USA made the Cobra 148F-GLT-DX radio, so the packaging will look similar to your TR696FD1. The 148F is an excellent radio, not over rated in any way. Infact Ranger are still making the 148F under the guise of the SuperStar 3900EFT. Connex made a version of the 148F called the Connex 4800DXL-E, both are excellent radios based on the "6900" chassis. You cannot judge the performance of ANY radio based on the supplied Mic, eg. look at Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom supplied Mics. 73.
I skored a new in box one a few years ago from a pawn shop. I paid $60 for it lol. Since then it's been modified to do all sorts of channels depending on which button you push.
The only problem is the frequency board contacts get dirty and need to be wiggled ocasionally.
Is this an old model or can you buy it new???.....looks a lot like the new Superstar 3900 with the built in counter to me ,is it the same???..........DAVE North Lincolnshire.
WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THESE???

The cobra 148 gtl has always been a nice radio. I must say that 148 f gtl is a great radio better then the cobra 2000 and cobra 200.

Hi Dave,
The Cobra 148F GTL-DX+ was made by RANGER in 1997. Only a fairly small number of units were made. Mint NEW ones like this are rare to find.
The 148F GTL-DX+ was the forerunner to the likes of the CONNEX 4800 DXL-E, RANGER 6900F, SUPERSTAR 158 EDX and 3900 EFT.
All based on the EPT-6900 Chassis.
