There is a saying that me and my gospel rhythm fanatics in Detroit have. We always say POCKET PAYS THE BILLS! Good stuff my man keep up the good work and always keep God first because all you need is a pocket everything else is secondary. As far as I'm concerned this was more about the pocket. lol, there should be a shed about which drummer can hold the pocket the longest LoL!!!
Technically this is a shed....Shedding isn't all about Chops and loud crazy drums for ever you gotta let the other musicians play every once in a while.....
get you head outta your own !@#$%ss. brooklyn invented it (gerald hayward and them cats. do ya history) besides. there's underground sheds all over the counrty that will never see the light of youtube that will str8 ish on cali sheds. i'm here in the atl and i know you aint seen what cats down here are doin. royster(when he's in town) dana hawkins, los mcswain, KB, crystal meth, alvin baptiste, stacey brown just 2 name a few. you'll hear about them soon enough if you have'nt already.
2 trey keep playing 4 the lord all these other cats talking sh.. will never understand a shed is a place to learn not to show off what you already kno and only what you do for chirst will last and when praise go's up blessing come down thats to the cats thats talking sh.. and remmber your praise have to be a sweet sound to his ear or he wont hear it flat out when a tru drummer plays its not about the liks but its about god so keep yo head up and keep playing for god and not the crowd
if your doing it for the lord it doesn't matter if you are fancy or just keep the pocket tight.i've been playing for thirty years.i switched to the bass guitar and my drummers are just good enough to hold the pocket tight so my choir can sing.
he must be the cat that hold the pocket the whole time...and who sets up they whole kit for a shed...and why the worse drummers always got the best gear...im jus saying...
Thank you for your viewing experience and comments CStokes20006. As you can see at the beginning of the shedd it states Shed at Dway's Church1, which means means the vid is chopped into several parts.
Our shedds have a warm up period where everyone (supposed) locks into the groove. There isn't a set time for when the solos begin.
From the videos I've watched, everyone's concept of the shedd is different. That being the case, I for one work on those things that need polishing for shows.
Thank you for the response CStokes20006. You just proved my point. You missed the whole concept of what I was saying. Don't hide behind the keyboard, post vids of your body of work. I look forward to viewing those vids, Whenever you upload them or NOT!!!!!!!
If you don't have vids, I will be visiting my relatives in the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami area this summer and would be happy to sit down and put in some work or in your words "get eating (eaten) alive in Florida" LOL!!! Be Blessed.
So from shedd to shedd my ideas of what needs to be tweaked may change. So in my mind, a shedd isn't a an opportunity to show all my chops, but to enhance the small things that helps me continue to play for Artists and also receive return calls to lay drums at the studio for various engineers.
What is your goal? One of my goals is to make an imprint on the musical world, as a musician, producer and performer that will last generations, not to be the shedd champion of the world. TBC....
In regards to your comment on the worst drummers having the best gear, I don't know about anyone else, but the money I earn performing is re-invested into my music ministry. Try it and you'll begin to see the fruit of your labor or NOT!!!
I am definitely happy with the studio God has blessed me with, complete with a DAW, MPC2500, Bass rig, KRKs, JBL Monitors, 3 complete drumsets, Mics, Keyboards, etc.
From the Words of Quest Love No Pocket No Money It seems to me Just hearing dissing my brother in the Gospel that you have a lot to learn about the foundation of making music drums is not made to show off but it's created to make music. Sure there is nothing wrong with Chops but you have to set your foundation first when you do that Chop. Aaron Spears always said Go Above the chops. Until they say give the drummer Some when that's when you show all the chops you want.
Now there is nothing wrong with adding a Chop on the break or creating a rudiment arrangement (intro outro or Vamp) like what you hear on Gospel Cd's like Marvin Sapp Fred Hammond etc. as long as you can Go back to the one and the pocket because you don't want to do more than the person that you are playing for from the words of James Brown keep it at the One
Good..mans....i`m mexican.i dont know about the gospel music...i have anythings tracks of gospel music, but if you can help my with names of tracks of gospel music for practice..thanks sorry for the gramatic
Next time you record make sure get a glimsps of everybody playing I'd probally put the camera in the pool pit other than that this shed was on point let me know when yaw have another one 734-218-4483 Harris h2 Johnson
