  • I come from the year 2122, using a time machine. sadly we can only travel back in time, so i can not say when diablo 3 actually will be released. but we tried to qalter the past, by supporting saddam hussein and making him win the first gulf war.. still no diablo 3. we are now thinking about helping to make the spartans with their stand at the thermopoyles (or how thats spelled), for we are running out of options...

  • GameStop have the best used games.

  • Used games? Only if I buy them in GameStop

  • all the times used game is better n with the return policy u don't have to worry when u retunrnig it

  • netherrealm, i got the new MK as soon as i could, i better get those fucking fatalities

  • didnt know best buy had used games

  • I'll buy used sometimes, but for the $5 difference in price, I'd rather buy new and know I'm supporting the game developers and not the store.

  • I wait for the games to cost around 40 bucks, instead of 60, that way, I can buy 3 for the price of 2. (120 bucks)

And, I may play good games 2 month after their release, but I know I'll play them anyway, there is no rush.

  • Resident Evil operation Rocket Raccoon !

  • i hate lickers dont you?

  • "Resident Evil: Operation: Raccoon City" wtf, why can't more companies make simple titles like 'minecraft', 'portal' and 'Diablo'

  • I HATE LICKERS!!!

  • Oh man used games ftw, used to buy them for my GBA :D

  • I love used games! Bought Warhawk for 5 dollars at an EB games (Canada's Gamestop) and used my PS Plus membership to get the expansion for free ... I love buying used games so much I named my little occational activity 'Bargain binning'.. I basically look for the lowest priced used games at stores and compare them to what I find on online selling sites (like Craigslist). If I find a game I like enough for a low price, I go and buy it.

This all ties into an achivement hunting hobby I have :)

  • sone chabis

  • I buy all my games digitally (PSN and Steam) so can't really buy them used xD

  • I only ever buy used games if they are out of production or super cheap, $8 ninety nine nights? Im down for that

  • i havent bought a new game in a while.... wait i did get skyrim new...

    1.Pokemon Pearl

    2. Assassins Creed Brotherhood

    3. (none other than the amazing) SKYRIM!!!1!!(i just got because i am a huge fan of the elder scrolls and i was waiting for the game forever)

  • I had a sweater like that once, then my mom got a job.

  • can i buy pal games from best buy?

  • You should get more cardigans like the one you got now. :)

  • i meen good

  • i buy used games loads!

i say why pay more for a slightly nicer box and some plastic packaging . as long as i get a working game, im goog.

  • @NerdySpoink What about actually supporting the people who actually made the game, isn't that a priority to?

  • @marat271 you know what?

That is so true and I should probably buy more new games

  • @NerdySpoink It's your choice.

  • How many of the people who bought a used copy of a game would have actually paid full price for it if they cudn't buy used??

How many people who paid full price for it would have still paid that amount of money for a game they may complete in 2 weeks and not they cant sell??

  • @ratty860997 If the concept of reselling game had never been invented people probably wouldn't even have the slightest need to sell their games. People are just greedy and try to get the best value for their money even if it ends up hurting the industry and themselves in the end.

  • i only play on pc so i have to buy games or cough cough so im normally never leave my house due to me having 15Mb (megabit not byte) connection and the lack of pc games in just about every physical game store.

  • Quick trow your gun at the zombie/infected/thingie and stab it with a knife ..... wait wut ?

  • I buy used games all the time. My ass is broke.

  • I dont like the scratchy and smelly used copies. most of the time the stores who sells used games sell them at a price where I instead can find them NEW and cheaper in a different store, so no, ill pass.

  • I work at gamestop, so I get a 15% discount. On top of my powerup card I get to save a bunch of money on used games.

  • too bad steam don't sell used games xD

  • Omg I need that xcom game to be good, Iv been waiting for a modern updated version for so long

  • I almost always buy used games. But if there is a game that I really want to get ill buy it at launch.

  • Diablo isn't an MMO. What is Davis even doing here? XD

  • When I get games for Xbox I'll try and get used, it's a good way to save money and I'll only really buy new if it's a pre-order

  • I get most of my games through download.

  • @EdiciusMai Steam?

  • @marat271 Obviously :P

I was expecting to hear something about "oh, you shouldn't pirate games!" since that's what download means on all occassions for most people.

  • @EdiciusMai What do you want me to , "you're the scum of the gaming scene, you should die in a fire..."

And technically downloading is just transferring data from a another data server. So per definition you also download games from Steam.

  • @marat271 Most people don't realize that, though. I just find it entertaining to hear what bad things people have to say about me downloading my games. :P

  • Buing used games is screwing the game industry. If you buy a used game only GameStop will profit, and not a single cent will go to the original developer. You think piracy is an issue? No, buying used games is the issue because it's LEGAL so there isn't much to do against it This is one of the biggest reasons why digital distribution is being popularized.

So no, I do not buy used games. I wish to be in gaming industry one day so I'm not going to screw my own industry :P

  • @Thejebe

Piracy is illegal, or legal depending on the silly "Only if you profit from it" countires, but it doesn't stop people doing it. They've already sorted that out as much as they can with the online pass keys. Online piracy is way more of a priority because it's easily duplicated, and it doesn't cost anything to make a digital copy of a copy. Not that Gamestop need the money, but it's still giving back in some way compared to literally getting it for free by downloading it.

  • @Lolp821

True in a way. For example, Steam sorts out the used games market; every single payment on Steam gives the original game developer a small share. However, Steam can't fully compell the online piracy, since, like you said, you can basically just make a copy of the game and then upload it.

But, at this moment when games are still sold physically in large quantities and physical piracy isn't a problem, the used game market is still a major issue.

  • @Lolp821 GameStop isn't giving any of the money back. They are taking money from a developer by selling their version of the product (used), where the consumer would've bought it new from the retailer who in turn bought it from the developer. GameStop buys a game from a consumer at a very small price (no more than $15) then turns around sells it for $45-55.

  • @Thejebe

Thats such a crappy reason not to buy used games. coz it hurts the industry. devs and publishers say they are losing money from this? how can they lose money that isnt there's in the first place.

From personal experience as a gamer i have bought used games cheap that i would never buy at full price. Liked them and then look for sequals and other games to buy from the same company at full price.

And what about renting games? surely that would be against the industry too?

  • @ratty860997 Just wait a few months for the games to drop in price instead of buying it used, then at least the developer who DEVELOPED the game will get a profit.

  • @marat271

9 times out of 10 the person who traded in the game will have put the money towards another game anyway. And like i said you cant put a price on the kind of effect someone playing one of your games rather than reading a review or watching a trailer has on a person. they picked up that game cheap, they buy another one later on at full price. I know i do it. I got The Sims off ebay many years ago. 10 years later ive spent about £75 on there later titles.

  • @ratty860997 Not everyone is like that, often people buy a game, play it to completion, trade it in, get another used game and repeat

My problem with used game sales is how much profit Gamestop and other companies get from it, if you look at their sales charts they gain nearly 50% of their revenue from used game sales, none of which the developers profit from. And actually, yes it actually does hurt the developers, if it didn't they'd not invent things like only "1 saved allowed only or such.

  • @marat271 I believe it hurts a game far more than piracy does. GameStop is literally stealing customers and money from the developers, then turning it into the main operating for their business.

  • @evanbanjo I agree to this, sadly in the end it actually hurts us. Because publishers go to more drastic means for us to buy new games. Like only being able to have 1 save file in the Resident Evil: Mercenaries for the 3DS. Which really was annoying for a little too many people. Or the reason for all these pre-order bonuses that should've already been in the game at the beginning.

  • @ratty860997

Look. If there were no used game market, only unused games would be sold, so the publisher and developer would get profit from every game sold. Nowdays one buys the game, then sells it to Gamestop, Gamestop then sells the game again as used, and the developers dont get anything.

Back in the day a good game could be sold for years. Now, a good game is sold well for weeks, and then the games end up being sold as used.

  • @ratty860997

Also, renting games is exactly like renting movies. It works due to facts that are too complicated for you to understand :)

  • @Thejebe

Didnt take long for you to come out from under the bridge did it.

  • @ratty860997

Didn't take long for you to realize you were losing this argument did it.

  • @ratty860997 They are losing money on potential customers who are giving money to GameStop instead for the product that the devs worked so hard on. When GameStop resells a game they pocket about $30 per copy sold, which could have been money for the developer. GameStop is a parasite to this industry.

  • @evanbanjo even though they only make about $5-$10 on new games they sell........

  • @evanbanjo

Ive never once even mentioned gamestop or any other gaming shop. Im talking about the people who directly re-sell there games on ebay or at 2nd hand sales. I live in the UK so i have no idea how Gamestop operates. It seems most people are annoyed at the middle man for making money not coz the devs are "losing" the money. If they could enforce a % of a legit in shop sale of a used game then thats all good but then that will just push up the price of a used game anyway.

  • @Thejebe Finally! Someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

  • buying used games in Australia is just outright stupid for example:

    A new release game = $100

    A new release "used" game = $95

    A normal new game = $65

    A normal used game = $60

    Grey Import (guys like Ozgameshop)

    A new release game = $60

    A normal new game = $20

  • I buy used games but it can be risky because Gamestop can sometimes cheat you pretty bad.

  • Comment removed

  • i will buy used game's but when new release come out, if the game was for example £40 pounds in sterling(uk currency) and there are used versions of the game for like £5 cheaper, i would just buy the the new game rather than the used.

  • @kalphite1 I think people would have understood which currency you were talking about without you having to specify it thrice. Just use the £ and everyone will get it.

  • 10% off at Gamestop. Ps3 games don't scratch. Hell yea I buy used games.

  • I Do. I bought DOOM 3 special edition used for like 20 bucks and it was fantastic!

  • @stanmarsh22291 And you saved money! :)

  • I only buy used ps3 games but not all the time because unlike xbox they don't have scratches

  • Thats my best buy!!!!!!!!

  • No I do not buy used because its giving gamestop pure profit. I would rather buy new and support the developers.

  • Hell yea I suck toes... Umm I mean yea i buy used games

  • buying used is the best way, and the only way.

  • Buying used games is worse than piracy. So no, i don't. Im not gonna explain why it's worse, cause if you don't already know, chances are you don't want to know. In short: Fuck used game sellers.

  • @MrLorgy So if a game gets boring you're supposed to bin it? Sorry for sounding ignorant but you can't just dismiss all arguments against used game selling.

  • eye do i am b00rd lol

  • I buy most of my games on steam. The few I buy in brick and mortar stores are Collectors Edition which I don't ever plan on returning.

  • Well if its true about diablo im gonna be gameing it for my birthday. Can imagin if its true, blizz would be pissed about them leaking it. If blizzard wanted to do something special for the game and bb ruins it.

  • Eye do.

  • i like used

  • The reason I think that best buy is pulling a fast one here is because they spelled februrary wrong on the poster board, leading me to believe it was photo shopped.

  • @BehindSpaceLS I dont know dude, that doesn't look photo shopped to me.

  • No, I play on PC.

  • Best buy: Y U NO IN EU )=(

  • I don't buy used games because I'm a PC gamer! ;)

  • I like supporting the fkn developers and not going through twice as much pain in the security

  • It depends on the price, the content, the game, but it the short term, yes I do buy pre-owned games

  • @TheMajinTrunks Sorry to tell you but I ain't a "fanboy" I'm not even that much of a gamer, but unlike you i enjoy Layne's show. And I didn't say you were mad i said your acting all "I'm a fucking mad cunt" as in you think your all cool

  • @thisisjag89 I didn't say anything to promote my "coolness". Seriously leave the 16 year old reasoning at home. I said what i said because it's true. TGS delivers 15 minutes per week of gaming news, which is pathetic for the "ESPN" of gaming - their words not mine. Not to mention irresponsible journalism like the Diablo 3 launch thing. If they would have just said "hey this thing is out there" fine. But to imply that it might be real...

Criticsm... it's what you do as a responsible consumer

  • @TheMajinTrunks Ok man, you do what you thinks right, but your criticism (if you could spell it right), doesn't have to involve smartarse comments, such as "Please promote more idiotic stuff", sorry but that's is called being a dick, not CRITICISM!

  • @thisisjag89 And i suppose "look at the shiny cardbord clock, diablo 3 is coming" isn't being a dick. And i'm sorry for not spelling criticism right for you. If only English was the universal language and taught in all schools equally and i wouldn't have picked it up on my own. Oh wait...

It's not called being a dick when it's true. Cos they DO promote idiotic stuff.

  • @TheMajinTrunks What you´re saying might have a shred of truth in it, but you´re still being a dick about it. Thisisjag89 hasn´t been doing a very good job of not being a dick himself, either, so really you´re equal.

What I´m saying tho, is that since you´ve got nothing good to say, don´t say anything. If you do not like the content TGS produce, then unsubscribe, and go watch other content. I like TGS and obviously Thisisjag89 does to, but you don´t. Okay, sure, whatever, then just leave. Please

  • @LordZakat don't you think you're missing the point just as much as the other guy? Yes i will unsubscribe if the product remains to be shit - as stated right now the Podcast TB promised is keeping me here - but i subscribed being promised one thing and getting something completely different. Is it wrong to call them on it? Is it wrong to actually point out their flaws? Especially considering that they are paid for it AND advertised themselves as something they are, well Not.

  • @TheMajinTrunks I´m not trying to argue with you, I´m just saying that since you obviously don´t like the content they produce, you should unsubscribe. They are producing alot of other content too AND the guys making these videos all have channels of their own. Thisisjag89 was acting like a huge dick about you not liking the videos and being a huge fanboy. You´re saying you want to see TB's podcast but watch only that and stop complaining about the rest since they´re not forcing you to watch it!

  • @LordZakat dude agreed. As i said i would honestly just ignore content I don't like. This news "Show" is something I actually watched regulary. What pissed me off was the absolute retard remark about the BestBuy clock. "It looks official guys"... was the comment about something I could make on a 100 $ budget.

As far as other content such as the fluff pieces: yea i don't watch. But there is no balance between that content and valid gaming content. Since they advertised THAT, i'm just calling BS

  • Nah used games aren't fresh and as cool as new games. And used games doens't give money to the publishers... i rather download than buying a used game. Only reason i buy games is to support small gaming companies.

  • @TheMajinTrunks all I'm saying man is that your being a dick and instead of being all I'm a fucking mad cunt cause i can diss people on the net about it, simply press the unsubscribe button and FUCK OFF

  • @thisisjag89 mad? I'm not mad. And i'm not being a dick. I objectivly accused TGS on being sensationalst journalism. Why is bringing criticsm to something pissing you off so much? Oh that's right cos you can't handle it. I will press unsubscribe when i feel like it. For the moment i just underlined a big Nono in so called "objective journalism". If anyone should fuck off is idiotic fanboys that eat up products without actually processing information. This is suppose to be a news show. It isn't.

  • my pc games cost less then your mortal used console games. mwahahahaha, sonic generations for £6.80!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @TheMajinTrunks WTF is your problem man, you have your own gaming channel so go promote that. Rather than coming to others and being a troll, which is making you just look like a complete dick

  • @thisisjag89 love the part where objective criticism is thrown out the window because of moronic fan boys like you. TGS was suppose to be and i quote "an ESPN" of gaming. Low and behold the only actual gaming news show is 3 minutes long. Rest of the contest is half assed content.

Oh and i love the part where the fact that i do some let's plays means that i should NOT criticise TGS on the absolute lackluster content they have. And here's a thought: learn what trolling means. Cos this, ain't it.

  • So let me get this, the official GameStation possition is that Diablo 3 might come out because of a clock like thing that someone can make in his garage? Yes please give me more reasons to unsubscribe. Please promote more idiotic stuff. The Street Fighter wasn't bad enough... now sensationalist news coverage. WHOHO.

God if TotalBiscuit hadn't promised an actual gaming podcast....

  • I'll play resident evil again when it's a survival horror.

  • I never buy used games because it fucks the game developers over. Simple as that.

  • Comment removed

  • Older games out of publication I will buy used. I try to avoid buying newer used games as that's taking money from the developers and publishers and lining the nasty little pockets of places like PawnStop oops I meant Gamestop.

  • I only buy digital.

  • Yes if its an older game that I didn't get closer to it release, the Dynasty Warriors games spring to mind.

  • Lol@ Resident Evil ill play when its zombies again

  • I buy my PS2 titles used (obviously) and some games which are maybe hard to find or keeps a consistently high price, then it can be a life-saver to find i.e FF13 for about 10 bucks, and the principle is that the publisher has already gotten paid for the products the store has in stock, and it's up to them if they want to offer a returned copy for a lower price to the customer, right?

  • i buy used games, if they dont have them new ;)

  • I only buy games when they are on sale on steam.

Well blizzard games I always buy on the release day because well.. they only come out once every 12 years.

  • First I...

...and then when they're 75% off on steam I buy them if I liked them.

Games like SC2 and D3 I buy on release date.

  • Ugh... Diablo is NOT an MMO.. I really don't understand this misconception people have. 4 player co-op =/= Massively multiplayer.

  • No, i never buy used games.

  • Resident evil looked good, but I don't trust Pre-rendered Trailers...

  • feburary 1st?!

  • Layne, Eye do!

  • I try to go new as much as possible but if the price is a substantial difference (like over £10) then I will buy used. I can use the money I saved form these to pre-order collectors editions of games. (By saving £10 on Dark Souls I was able to pre-order the Final Fantasy XIII-2 Collectors Edition and get 10 extra stuff - pretty awesome). Because even if the money won't go to the original developers it at least is being used to keep people in jobs at the store.

  • Best Buy and Diablo 3 = BS

  • Why buy used games? If you don't need the code to create an online accound then you are just an idiot for not downloading them lol.

  • @hattalah Because some people don't support piracy!?

  • @hattalah Because piracy is illegal? Why don't people just steal a car instead of buying second hand off someone

  • If I buy it used I might as well pirate it. Very small difference.

  • damn it....make a new Mortal Combat for PC

  • 2:20 end of mmomg

  • If I Don't Card About The Game I Go Used, If It's Something Really Cool I Always Go New

  • Always used when I can. 10 bucks less and a better return policy? Yes please!

  • i juust bought a nintendo64 so im kinda forced yo buy used games :)

  • what's kerrigan doing in resident evil?

  • woot resident evil looks sick cant wait for it

  • Used games are cancerous.

  • with times as tough as they are Layne, I buy used, I got a buddy who works at Gamestop, so he gives me the best used copy of any game they got. But I am also a collector, so I enjoy having the cover art to the game. If for some reason they dont have it, I wont buy it, or I will print out the cover online and put it in the sleeve

  • i can usually get new retail copy for cheaper than used copy so obviously i buy new games ^^

  • i'm a pc gamer no used games

  • I get a sense of satisfaction opening a new game

  • i love buying used games but now almost all games requairre a online key and thats why i will say no i dont atleast not anymore...

  • eye do :D

  • Buying used games is same as piracy for the company because they don´t get anything from it.

  • WE WANT MORTAL KOMBAT on pc please

  • PC gamer, I normally have no other choice than to buy new. :D

  • I buy new games mainly cuz im scared that the used version isnt gonna work when i play it.

  • I'll buy used game unless it is one of those that require to buy the game new to get free dlc like Mass Effect 2.

  • i only buy games new if i think the producer and the developer deserves the money otherwise i buy used

  • There was no butt pic at 0:47 :o

  • Well there's debate not to buy new or old because developer lose $ bec of pre-owned purchases. Usually i buy new because it easier..diference btw new and old is $1~$5

  • I mostly buy downloadable games. When I do buy used I try to get it from player (Amazon or Ebay) instead of a store.

Gamestop is just a shell game. Don't get me started on their terrible service.

  • i buy used games quite often, i dont see anything wrong with it

  • if its under $25 I will consider buying used but any higher than that and I dont think its worth it

  • I have only bought used games from friends but never from a store.

  • Dpeneds what kind of game it is. If it's brand new, then ill probably get it new. Butt if its been out a while, then ill get it preowned.

  • I'm mostly a PC gamer which almost makes the entire debate about used vs new games moot for me.

  • If you buy new games and you've downloaded songs for free... Delete all your free music and go out and buy it. Its completely hypocritical when people say "Oh yeah I buy new games..." (Secretly hasn't be said, "I download all my music for free though."). Plus music is fairly cheap $5-30 for an album $15 is average price. :) Thanks for reading my rant though. itunes can go to hell, thats a different rant I won't get into.

  • I only buy games new for the fact that games resellers are doing far more harm to developers than pirates ever could. A pirate takes a copy of the game, no money involved. GameStop buys a game that has already been purchased at a very small price (under $15), then sells it to a consumer who would've bought it new for close to new price ($45-55). This means the developer is not getting money from that sale and GameStop makes a huge profit. Fuck that. Support devs by buying NEW!

  • It all depends for me but I usually wait for deals like buy two get one free deals.

  • depending on the game and when it's release, i usually buy new games. unless a store is having a deal and stuff

  • you gotta, love that $5! plus i've never had any problems doing so

  • I buy games new whenever I can, because I want to support the devs and publishers and not just Gamestop. However since I am a college student I don't have much money so I tend to only buy games that just came out recently new while buying older titles used,

  • when i buy games i buy them new for 1 reason and that is that i want the money to go to the creator of the game so they can realise more games that's give us our fun momment( exept if you are a kid and rage that the game it to hard and cry in the forums to make the game easer for you and destroy the experience for a average player)

  • so will the new mortal kombat make it to australia?

  • The Gamestop near me says March 11th. O_O

  • No

  • Eyedo
