i live in australia and it is very hot here i have only just started to wear hijab, and find im sweating alot is there a certain material i can wear that would be a little cooler
@mrssinnersefian Personally, cotton is the best. But I live in Maine, which doesn't get anywhere NEAR as hot as it does in Australia, so I don't know if it will give you too much relief. Hope that answer helps, though :)
I am really not trying to offend anyone, I am truly curious. If you are supposed to only be fully covered (only face, hands and feet showing) in the presence of men, what about women who are gay? What if you are unknowingly in the presence of a woman who is attracted to you and you are not fully covered?
Oh, and I love the sleeves! I burn in the sun so they are very ideal. But Pearl Daisy doesn't have them in black or white right now! Bummer.
@KellyTawni If you are muslim then you must know that women covering is BEFORE all because Allah said so in the quran. then you start thinking about the benefits of it... being gay is not allowed in islam. and if a sincere woman has to cover in the presence of a guy woman then she will do it without any problem. there's good a lot of knowledgeable imams out there to ask about this situation. and they will base from the true sources of islam. cause islam has an answer for all questions.
@Amenakin I went on pearl daisy today to order my new hijabs and most importantly, sleeves. No Black Sleeves! :( I'm very sad. do you know when You'l have black sleeves? I'd rather get them from you than another supplier. XX
loll ma mum went to syriyaa and bought me every single colour of those sleeves...i findd them reallyy useful wen it comes to summer time and they seem to match all ma outfitt's!! xx
Covering up yourself from head to toe is very unhealthy. You get no vitamin D. Supliments are not a substitute for lack of sunlight. Lack of vitamin D can lead to lack of energy, predisposition to catching every virus and germ you come into contact with, autism, type 1 dieabetes, heart disease, bone disease, bowl and lung cancer, premature aging and an early death. We live in the day time, we need sunlight on our bare skin upto 2 hours per day if you are dark skined, less if your'e fair skinned.
@Valthepixie lol I don't cover myself when it isn't necessary. I get plenty of sunlight on my skin in my garden and during any other times I'm outside and men aren't present :o) We don't need to keep the hijaab on 24/7 - only when men are around
@Amenakin Glad to hear you can get some sun in. :). But there are millions not so lucky to have a private garden like you do.
It's not just muslim ladies that have this problem, we've all been fed a bit fat lie about sunblockers as well. They reckon at least 100 million americans are vitamin D defficent. Not so good.
@Amenakin That and Vitamin D comes mostly from our own food then we ever need in the sun. :/ I rather cover up least I catch skin cancer or sun burn. XD
@Valthepixie Muslim women) and that we wear Hijab. Besides protecting us from bad looks and immodest people, Hijab also protects our skin from the damages of ultraviolet rays. Overexposure to sunlight causes more than 90 percent of all premature aging (sagging, bagging, wrinkling, scaly skin) and 90 percent of all skin cancers.
a) allows for perfect vitamin D intake without risk of what you state above as heat travels through loose clothing
b) the lose fitting allows air in keeping you fresh,
Tight fitted clothing is unhygienic and lack of clothing leaves high risk of skin cancer via UV rays entering due to no protection from clothing. Clothing is the natural anti-UV creams you are advised to use.
@flowerpeace100 heat may travel through loose clothing, but vitamin D is formed by being exposed to UV rays. Not by heat. UV radiation is needed- in moderate amounts.
and why exactly is tight-fitting clothing unhygienic? I wear tight, either short sleeved or long sleeved with short sleeves over it almost daily, and as long as I take the clothing that touches my skin and toss it in the washing mashine daily, it absorbs the junk I sweat out instead of leaving it on my skin.
@flowerpeace100@flowerpeace100 UV rays are what stimulates the production of vitamin D, not heat. That's why balance is important- enough sun exposure for vitamin D, but not too much that it irritates the skin. For many, sunlight isn't enough anyway, and supplements are necessary.
I'm not Muslim but I've got nothing against hijab or covering up skin. But I don't want misinformation to be spread, because vit. D deficiency is a pretty important issue. I hope you understand. :)
@Valthepixie well i guess there would be no muslims alive save it hunny no one cares we can sit in the sun in our backyards and get that vitmin d and cancer comes from ur alcohol and smokes and drugs not lack of sun.
@Valthepixie you do know that a lot of material does let sunlight through! Even if it's in small amounts, it still comes through. Not only that you can also get vitamin D from many foods including salmon, ,mackerel, tuna, eggs, and mushrooms. Although sunlight is good for helping the body produce vitamin D, too much sun can cause premature ageing, sun spots and skin cancer... I don't want to offend anyone with what I am saying I just want you to understand the other side of things too.
In order for you to get the amount of vitamin D that you need just from sunlight you would have to be out in the sun ALL day. we get vitamin D from foods like dairy as well.
@Valthepixie hey who eevr u are, do u think Allah All mighty doesntknow about all these vitamins and stuff. he created us and the entire world. so he definitly knows all that and he will never suffercate any one. so pls stop discouraging the wearing of Hijab
@Valthepixie Oh also, Reading Quran is a medicine against all the diseases mentioned. Since Allah ordered us to veil. Go take a look at most other religions (nuns, Jews, ) etc... they all veil. But the coming generations are unveiling as fashion.. every women should veil. allah yahde el jamee3
@Valthepixie well that's not true...we only need 10-15 minutes a day of sunlight to produce as much vitamin D as we need, and it can be on any part of the skin... you don't have to be half naked and burn on the sun all day to get enough vitamin D :)
@Valthepixie I'm a non-religious person who lived in northern Canada for 18 years where for six months of the year you must wear a shirt, sweater, huge winter coat, pants, boots, mittens, a hat under the hood of the coat, and snow pants over your normal pants if you're spending time in the snow or you will get frostbite. We cover more than this woman. I feel I have some authority on this issue, and let me say, with the level of coverage this lady is describing she can get enough vitamin D.
@Valthepixie o PULLLLLEAAAASSSEEEE, in the UK the UV rays are not sufficient enough at winter times for Vit D formation! it takes half hr of hand and face exposure to get your sunlight! not bare nakedness!! your vit D deficiency examples are so unlikely especially as many goods are fortified! There are more deaths skin cancer for being bare than there are for vit D deficiency!
You know what, even when you are wearing more clothing than I would care to wear, unless it were freezing cold...it all looks great on you and fashionable. You have a great sense of fashion. I really liked the grey outfit. ;)
Hi there, gorgeous amena, just dropping by to view ur videos after a fren of mine shared the pearl-daisy promo vid. Subhanallah u r so beautiful, loves ur pic espc d one in this vid d one u r wearing that white saree. May Allah bless u n ur work spreading the words of encouraging people to wear hijab and stay stylish. i'm actually from Malaysia where we muslimah started to wear our hijab very early since we were still a child as small as3,4 years old depends on how d parents nurture it
i live in Pakistan, and its pretty hot here in the summers which problems me when i wear my hijab so i just the veil loosely instead but it doesnt work with the abbayas so kindly plz can u come up with a style of scarf that wouldn't problem me as much in summers and still be covering my neck as well.
These headscarfs are soooooo pretty. I'm not Muslim but I cover my hair a lot to protect my hair. On a side note, I found it very ironic that Muslim women tend to be targeted for covering their hair when Christians and Jews have a history of head covering. Great tutorials by the way!!
sorry but i read some of the comments about the concept of hijab and as i understood you also need to cover up you body... but i remember kids in our school who cover their hair but they wear our uniform as is without having to cover more... we wore pants in college but the blouse sleeves falls above the elbows, same in high school and we wore skirts then about 3-4 inches below the knees... how does that work?
Excuse my ignorance on the subject, but wearing the hijab includes covering one's full arms/legs?? I thought it was about covering your hair and just being modest in general. Your videos are very interesting to me, even as a Non-Muslim.
@delagurl925 Yup. Wearing hijab means not only covering your hair, but also arms and legs as well. Thats why you dont see women wearing hijab on their head and wearing, say... short sleeve shirts, capris, shorts etc. Questions are welcome... dont apologize for that. :)
Lots of people believe Hijab to mean headscarf but hijab is an Islamic concept of modesty. Men are required to adhere to "hijab" as well... Your questions are ALWAYS welcome.. We always like people to ask us questions rather than assuming or listening to the media or something (which is generally not correct)..
@delagurl925 it depends on who your asking. usually we cover our whole arms and legs when we start to wear a hijab, but i know that arab women wear skirts that come before the ankle. im indian muslim and dont wear hijab, and is okay w short sleeves but dont show my ankles.
You can also make these from "leggings." I've cut them to the length I liked...long! I live in a very hot climate, and it was a real life saver for me.
These sleeves are the best thing when wearing hijab! I think someone at school has white ones, but since my city is all new muslim immigrants hijab styles are harder to find at stores.
Thank you so much for all of your videos. I have a tip that ladies might like. There is a website called putsomethingon . com They have long sleeve shirts that are short and cover only the chest. So they work well for summer under short sleeve shirts. They provide coverage without being a full length shirt under your main shirt. They also have mini camisoles that just go over the chest so they can be worn with shirts that have a v neck or lower neck.
Mashallah sister, your videos are really insipring and I love your top! Inshallah can you give us a tip on how to wear tops without wearing an Abaya or dress? Or something about trousers that aren't too flattering?
Hi. I am not a muslim, but I don't like immodest clothes. The sleeves are perfect for when it's too hot to wear a long sleeve top under another top. :)
Assalaam O Aleikum, like the way your wearing the hijab just now! Have u got a tutorial for that sister? If u do please let me know, if not would u do a tutorial please?? thank you very much sis! u look stunning! Wa'aleikum assalaam
I'll be going back to college soon and it'll be our first semester in our uni. hospital, I'm thinking of buying some from pearl-daisy (cuz ur's are more beautiful than my mum's =P) and wearing them under my lab coat with a string shirt when its hot.. cuz my arm my get exposed..
thats really neat! im always looking for thin tops, to layer with but they're always pretty thick :(
these look puurrrfect, i tried checking them out at p.daisy, but a message popped up instead saying u guys'll b back shortly, i've tried a couple times during the day, but its not coming up?
i liked your video and you look very nice,, and covered alhumdulilah,,and altho its cool that you are wearing your ear rings,,but are we really allowed to have out ears showing and the ear rings like that,, I know my husband wouldnt let me anyway,,but I dont even know if its allowable for us to do that,, but still alhumdullah you looks very beautiful
I used to wear those sleeve under my sari blouses too until we figured out that if you are getting the blouse done to your measurements, you buy extra fabrics ( matching ) and use that for the body of the blouse and use the sari piece for the sleeves,
layering is such a great idea! And I love the sleeves, they work so well and are so cheap. When I started wearing hijab I freaked cause I thought I'd have to buy all new blouses but a friend put me up on the sleeves and I didn't have to buy anything!! YAY for sleeves!
thanks you sister it nice to learn how to dress like a sister and you help me so muchi have to wear glasses every day and i a fat face what hijab style is good for me plz wasalaam
sis i dont see u help u talktoo much stop talking and do the action cause i realy want u hijab that u wearing right now do that and stop talking im nto hatin gi just want learn something not talking
@nancey6516372 Sister, the title of this video is "Hijab Tip: Sleeves". The title isn't 'Hijab Tutorial'. If you would like to see the tutorial, go to my channel, where you will find the tutorial for this style. If you find the video unhelpful, or my talking is disturbing you, you can choose not watch the video. It's as simple as that!
I just log on to your website and I wanted to buy the long sleeve's in Black and White but they are Out of Stock can you please let me know when are you Restocking them again.
i was just wondering how you had done your scarf in the picture where you were wearing a saree. Would you please be able to make a video tutorial of it. But if not, then thats fine.

the sleeves are really good becuz i get hot easily so i hate layering during the warmer seasons where i live the weather is kinda unpredictable of course if u dont watch the news! lol
these sleeves are really useful, even for under long-sleeved tops or abayas that have wide sleeves (so when you reach up or anything, your arms don't pop out! :D )
thank you for this very informative video. Even if you stay humble on the subject, I find that you do have a good "insight" into fashion. ;)
Do you have by any chance some insightful comments to make about long gloves? If, say, you were going to a formal ball, and therefore were wearing a long dress with short sleeves; I think that wearing long gloves, like (nearly) up to the armpits would be a good way to combine the covering the arms while being elegant at the same time. Do you agree?
@xavierob You're welcome! Um, I'm not sure personally I'd go to a ball - from my understanding, balls are for dancing and so I wouldn't be comfortable going. With the gloves, being "nearly" up to the armpits wouldn't be good enough, as that would mean some of the arm would be exposed & you'd be fiddling about with it so I don't agree with that, no. But everyone has their own decisions to make...
hmm I understand. Why wouldn't you be comfortable while dancing? Is it something personal or does this incomfort come from something related to the Islam? I'm just trying to understand.
thank you for posting this. i am considering the hijab as a style for more long term than just my current 'project' but cant afford to go buy a whole new wardrobe. your look is so well put together. i would love to be able to pull this kind of style off. thank you for your tips.
I luv u for this.. U have solved all my problems... Bcuz bfore wearin the Hijaab i used to wear short sleeves.. now all my old asain clothes r goin to waste becuz one I can't wear short sleeves for obv reasons n two also bcuz if u wear a cardi over a suit it can kill it altogher.. Also can u do a tutorial on the hijaab style u hav on in this vid.. N can I purchase that colour on the site.. Thank u xx
I started wearing these arm covers before I became Muslim, when I was working and wearing my scrubs. I used the white ones to keep my arms from getting sunburned while standing outside waiting for buses, and any color in winter as an extra layer to keep my arms warm in winter. I also wore then when I visited a client who was possibly contageous. I have them in nylon, cotton, lycra and different lengths and thicknesses. I was so happy to find thse arm covers!! :-)
i hoping inshallah you will start to sell jilbabs on your wesit.I am just tired of searching and spending alot of money on them, and the quality is not good. I would really appreciate it if youstart to sell them, also sisters have trouble with the sizes, because they tend tocome from abroad. Keep up the good work sis, your website looks great.
@annie14411 wa 'alaikum as-salaam, sister.. i'A make du'a I am able to as I would like to start doing clothing but it's a bit trickier than scarves and I'm not sure if I'll burn myself out trying to cover everything haha. J'A for your feedback!
omgggg sister...assalam, im gona request to you to do a bit more tutorials with scarf that come loose underneath the chin as i've got quite a round face and most of the tutorials you've done are mainly closed ones...which done suit my face...i really like this one as u're also wearing earings...i know it might be hard on you as u've got a baby...but u do it in your own time :D
There are actually neck covers available now alhamdullilah : ) i will send you a link of fb Amena ... i love the blog list, i read alot of them. I have more on my blog linked on my channel if you want to look at those.
AslamAlaikum, this video is so very helpful for me. Thank u so much. Where can I get these detachable sleeves frm?
I wear normal shirt for work, n tht dnt cover my theighs or to keens, have to wear sweater. Any idea plz?

Excuse my ignorance on the subject, but wearing the hijab includes covering one's full arms/legs?? I thought it was about covering your hair and just being modest in general. Your videos are very interesting to me, even as a Non-Muslim.
delagurl925 1 year ago
@delagurl925 Yup. Wearing hijab means not only covering your hair, but also arms and legs as well. Thats why you dont see women wearing hijab on their head and wearing, say... short sleeve shirts, capris, shorts etc. Questions are welcome... dont apologize for that. :)
pashun88 1 year ago
@delagurl925
LeAnDaH 1 year ago
@delagurl925 it depends on who your asking. usually we cover our whole arms and legs when we start to wear a hijab, but i know that arab women wear skirts that come before the ankle. im indian muslim and dont wear hijab, and is okay w short sleeves but dont show my ankles.

You can also make these from "leggings." I've cut them to the length I liked...long! I live in a very hot climate, and it was a real life saver for me.

These sleeves are the best thing when wearing hijab! I think someone at school has white ones, but since my city is all new muslim immigrants hijab styles are harder to find at stores.
MIDNAq1LINK 1 year ago
Thank you so much for all of your videos. I have a tip that ladies might like. There is a website called putsomethingon . com They have long sleeve shirts that are short and cover only the chest. So they work well for summer under short sleeve shirts. They provide coverage without being a full length shirt under your main shirt. They also have mini camisoles that just go over the chest so they can be worn with shirts that have a v neck or lower neck.

Yeah I find arm sleeves are tight around my arms and they hurt :(
mysticalmoon25 1 year ago
I used to wear those sleeve under my sari blouses too until we figured out that if you are getting the blouse done to your measurements, you buy extra fabrics ( matching ) and use that for the body of the blouse and use the sari piece for the sleeves,

thank you for this very informative video.
Do you agree?
xavierob 2 years ago
@xavierob You're welcome! Um, I'm not sure personally I'd go to a ball - from my understanding, balls are for dancing and so I wouldn't be comfortable going. With the gloves, being "nearly" up to the armpits wouldn't be good enough, as that would mean some of the arm would be exposed & you'd be fiddling about with it so I don't agree with that, no. But everyone has their own decisions to make...
Amenakin 2 years ago
hmm I understand. Why wouldn't you be comfortable while dancing? Is it something personal or does this incomfort come from something related to the Islam? I'm just trying to understand.
xavierob 2 years ago
thank you for posting this. i am considering the hijab as a style for more long term than just my current 'project' but cant afford to go buy a whole new wardrobe. your look is so well put together. i would love to be able to pull this kind of style off. thank you for your tips.
